It has been http://www.bethblog.com/2012/08/02/dawnguard-ps3-update/ that the PS3 version will be delayed a bit as they are still working to ensure acceptable performance on the platform.

Gstaff, on 30 August 2012 - 06:52 PM, said:

Earlier in the month, we provided an update on Dawnguard's status for PS3.

It's been a few weeks, and we wanted to make sure everyone knows where we're at with Dawnguard. Skyrim is a massive and dynamic game that requires a lot of resources, and things get much more complex when you're talking about sizable content like Dawnguard. We have tried a number of things, but none of them solve the issue enough to make Dawnguard good for everyone. The PS3 is a powerful system, and we're http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1413248-ps3-release-for-dawnguard-thread-23/# to deliver the content you guys want. Dawnguard is obviously not the only DLC we’ve been working on either, so the issues of adding content get even more complicated. This is not a problem we’re positive we can solve, but we are working together with Sony to try to bring you this content.

We wish we had a more definitive answer right now. We understand the frustration when the same content is not available on all platforms. When we have an update, we will certainly let you know. We deeply appreciate all the time and support you have given us, and we’ll keep doing our best to return that.

Additional information from Pete Hines in response to Dawnguard:

"Yes, it’s just doesn’t perform well in all scenarios. Some folks would be fine, some would not.”

One of Bethesda’s top PR execs, Pete Hines, (who holds the position of VP of PR and marketing), tweeted to a question that concerned the release date, saying, “No, we will not release it if we can’t get the performance to an ‘acceptable’ standard. Our stance on this has not changed.”

According to Gstaff http://www.bethblog.com/2012/10/04/hearthfire-available-on-steam/comment-page-1/#comment-278242:

Friday, October 5, 2012 at 10:57 am:

We haven’t given up. We’re still working to see what’s possible.

Sunday, October 7, 2012 at 10:15 pm:

Our team is still working to make PS3 content available on PS and doing everything possible to make it a possibility.

So, who else is very curious to see how they are going to market the next Fallout title? Will they even bother making it for the PS3 after the Skyrim clusterbug?
It's obvious they can't come out with the "new engine, special attention, level of parity" crap. We've heard that before, and it didn't work out too well last time.
Personally, I don't think I would even believe them if every single gameplay video they showed us was from the PS3 console. How many of us have had one cave, redoubt, mine, or other area go off bug free? It's when one gets around level 50 or so and has a few dozen hours of gameplay the real issues start showing up in force. Until then, they are minor relatively speaking.

Yes, I know, this post may not belong here, but I just wanted to show any Bethesda employees that might glance at these threads that what they are doing right now is going to directly affect the sales of future titles. They need to remember that the PS3 console accounts for one third of their paying customers. That is quite a bit of money. If that revenue stream suddenly dried up, I think they might miss it just a bit. Speaking for myself, but I'm assuming many others as well, I will not spend one more penny on anything else with the Bethesda name on it unless they make some kind of reparation to the PS3 fans that got svckered into buying Skyrim based on lies. Even if Bethesda is just a publisher, as in the case of Dishonored, I refuse to buy the game. Bethesda needs to think about the future of their company right now. Could Bethesda function if one third of their income disappeared? Not many companies could.

I'm sure Bethesda is aware of this. What they are likely doing now is trying to guage how much damage has been done and if they really do need to change their marketing strategies accordingly. Those of us attentive to this forum should realize that the negativity of the current situation does not resonate as acutely for the whole populance of Skyrim PS3 gamers. Doesn't surprise me at all that Bethesda still plans on re-marketing PS3 Skyrim like nothing is wrong with it. Good way to test which way the wind is really blowing.

Pete Hines, the mouth of Bethesda, certainly won't acknowledge any issues. We should remember that Bethesda does have an effective marketing department, which has in the past snowed over the negative experiences PS3 gamers have in previous Bethesda games. They probably are hopefull to be at least partially successfull again.

I really hope Bethesda is not doing a silent DISS on all of us, they owe us a working game. We'll learn soon I think.

Snip from #30

Right. I forgot about that link that was posted. Well then, I guess that gives all the more reason to avoid them. It's unfair to companies like Arkane, but maybe companies will learn not to partner with Bethesda in the future if they want to do anything on the PS3 console.

Arkane is doubly screwed imo. Not only are they partnered with Bethesda on Dishonored, i really don't think they had much choice. There are a property of Zenimax just like Bethesda. I've worked at companies that are answerable to a larger parent company, it is not always conducive to running the subsidiary in a way that best works for them.

A personal example, i was ordering parts from a national supplier my company had great relations with. As such we received deep discounts on every order we placed. After we were absorbed into a larger group of companies in our market, we were forced by corporate to start ordering the same parts from a then sister company. Sounds good on paper, but our sister company sold at a price that quickly began eating into our profits.

When confronted with the books, corporate pretty much said that my company would not only have to eat the profit loss, but that we would have to recoup it elsewhere or action(IE firings) would be forthcoming. Long story cut short, my business ended up closing shop 3 years after the buyout. After having been a thriving independent company for decades.

So yeah, it svcks hard for Arkane imo. They will no doubt be negatively impacted by Bethesda's growing bad rep when it comes to the PS3. And that will prolly lead well into the PS4 life cycle as well.

Well, they have snowed over the negative PS3 titles in the past, but like I've said before it's different this time. Fallout: New Vegas did not get a story in Playstation Magazine as far as I know. Gaming websites did not run multiple articles about the failings of past games. They are this time. Bethesda's failure in Skyrim for the PS3 console has a big spotlight on it. Unlike past games, players are well aware of the issues plaguing Skyrim and Bethesda's ineptness when it comes to the PS3. This time, their screw up is extremely public. This time, they can't just ignore the issues and release a new game as the outcome from Skyrim will get more attention than they have ever had.

This. The past was forgivable for the PS3 because at least they gave us the content sooner or later. For Oblivion, we may not have gotten the minor DLC, but we got Knights of the Nine for free. And the game worked pretty well too. For Fallout 3, we got the DLC, and we still had trust in Bethesda since it was the first time they had trouble with the PS3. But for Skyrim, the game was damn near broken, and they're pulling this no PS3 DLC for the second time.

I'll be shocked if they have some sort of exclusivity deal with MIcrosoft the next time around if they plan to keep a huge part of their base around. You can't just cut one of the three main platforms of this generation out of your buyer base, that's just bad business.

I'm honestly shocked to still have NO real word, or release from Bethesda since August. I had to stop playing Skyrim all together now. I just wish they would come out, man up, and say "hey, we needed to port to PS3 the cheapest way possible, that required breaking your games and negating all DLC, sorry"..... In the end, they just need to come out and tell the truth i'll get over it, i'll still play video games.... But just not a Bethesda one

I tripped on my 360 and landed my PS3, then TV fell on my head blowing the circuit breaker in my house and cooking my wife's lap top that was charging. j/k I like this better

I agree but for a slightly different reason. As of right now, Microsoft paid an undisclosed sum of cash to Bethesda for deal to make the first two bits of DLC for Skyrim exclusive to the Xbox 360. Well the two DLC have hit and Microsoft paid their money, but since the PS3 has yet to(and i doubt ever will) receive Dawnguard or Hearthfire, Microsoft has paid for nothing. I very much doubt Microsoft is going to be chomping at the bit to give Bethesda more free money in the future. I have been wondering what MS is gonna do about Bethesda in this regard.

Hello Bethesda and fellow posters.

Here's how the deal works for me and all the fellow PS3 people I know in my area, which is actually over 30 users. Until Bethesda has the consistency and basic common courtesy to update communication responsibly, I will not just have a blackballing of anything connected to Bethesda, I refuse to even purchase Dawnguard or any other add-on content for my PC even though I could get the content now. Now, this isn't about DLC or some trival game content. It's about non communication and about Bethesda's lack of updates not to mention they decided last game to never go back and fix the vampire glitch in Oblivion which likely could have been done over a weekend. Tell us when you are going to clean up your disregard for talking with us Bethesda. Until then your company is doing incredible damage to your company reputation every single day you decide to blackout your users with disrepect.

Have a little faith. If they gave you all SI which is bigger if not as big as DG, they will pull through and give you DG.

Though i'm wondering if there is something else they aren't telling us, cause the PS3 isn't that much stronger than the 360.

That's kinda been one of the main points in all of this. For what they are designed to do, the Xbox 360 and the PS3 aren't that dissimilar when you get right down to the core specs. The issue is Bethesda's either inability or choice to not develop all versions of their games to the same standard.

As to faith, i do have faith that Bethesda will continue to find a new ways of losing face as this fiasco draws on.

Don't forget that Shivering Isles was put on top of 4J Studios' port not Bethesda's.

Well AC3 is out so I guess Ima be busy with that from now on. Working out, boxing like training, and AC3 will keep me away from worrying about DG for you guys xD

Too many good games coming out for Bethesda to just hold stuff off. If they hold it off too long, people won't even bother caring.
