PS3 Release for Dawnguard - Thread #31

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 3:03 pm

In the Skyrim General Forum there is a post about the new DLC Dragonborn and at the bottom of said post a bit about new code that seems to indicate the PS3 will be getting the DLC soon. I've read a few of these threads but hadn't seen anything on it here. Am I just late to the party or should I start updating my credit card info in the PS Store?

In all honesty, even if this was the case and the PS3 is getting DLC, save your money. Do not--I repeat, DO NOT--give this "company" one red penny of your hard-earned cash. After all, they have lied to you, denied you, baited you, mocked you, refused you, and committed fraud against you. There is no way that any of us should ever, under any circumstances, give our money to this den of thieves.

Instead, save your money and do something better with it. Giving it to Bethesda, after everything they have done thus far, is akin to simply burning it and pissing on its ashes.

You just did that now?!?

What have you been doing for the past year, picking flowers and chasing butterflies?!?

Ha, it is a bunch of fun but at the same time a bit limiting. Can't loot, can't open doors, can't activate quest markers...I love to use it in dungeons to clear them out quickly, but sometimes it's a hassle because you need to rest an hour or two for your lust to wear off.

dude i haven't even played that game much. *ps3 freezes and all ya know* .. i've only visted whiterun .. and explored a bit around also i got it on 11/11/11 .. and i've yet to complete the main quest. I haven't even started anything at all. lol

No. Even if dlc arrived tomorrow, I would still urge all ps3 owners to wait for reviews and player opinions. Don't let them New Vegas you're azz.....If they haven't already.

yeah i'm going to wait first. see some reviews some scores and maybe even try it if my one of my friends buys it. just to test it out.

They're stalling. Waiting for people to forget, sell their copies, and move on. By the time they drop the ball that there's not going to be any further DLC for a FUBAR game, there won't be enough people left paying attention to take action that they would be entitled to take.

The best I think we can hope for is if Bethesda/Zenimax sells the rights to TES to someone that has a clue about how to treat paying customers, but I doubt that'll ever happen. As much as I love the series, I'm not buying it from Bethesda.

All I can say is they are releassing the Mass Effect Trilogy with a TON of DLC for the PS3. Why? Because they actually care about PS3 players/business. That is not a small game by any means. Good luck to those of you who are still not sick of Skyrim and are waiting for this DLC!

Yeah, can wait to play ME1
"We worked around the clock to ensure the game performed at, or better-than, the performance metrics that we had from the Xbox 360. And they did it," BioWare said of the team. "Mass Effect on the PS3 runs pretty damn well."
Now if this was something Pete Hines said, would you believe him?

Now this is what an update looks like. I've got an idea for Gstaff, get a camera, take a photo of the one blind guy working on the PS3 version of Skyrim and get his imput and display it in Bethblog. Its posts like the one Bioware made that makes Bethesda look like highly incompetent people

I just want to give you Ps3 peeps my symphaties.. I used to own the game on the Ps3, but switched it for a Xbox copy (I'm week, I know). Hope Bethesda manages to sort this Sh** out, and gives out regular, humbly written updates and hopefully solves the issue.

You're not weak, you have the other options and that's good for you :)

Most of us don't though. :ermm:

You probably have one of the worst setups then.

I've encountered quite a few freezes lately on my new character, though I am having a lot of fun with my Cryptwalker class in it's early stages even though it's been a really challenging.

And I haven't completed the main quest either. By the time I get to about level 50, the character becomes unplayable.

So, found this today. Hopefully, if it is a direction Bethesda wants to go in, they actually read, study, learn, and program properly this time. Again, Bethesda, PORTS DON'T WORK!!

http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/11/01/report-ps4-dev-kits-surface-details-inside

Bethesda, Sony will be sending you a package. It is not a George Forman grill, it is not a planter, it is not just a shiny piece of plastic or a paperweight. The paper that comes in the package? Well, those are instructions my precious little children. You read those and learn what this new system can do and how to make a game on it that works! Amazing, I know! I just want to let you know, since you seemed to have ignored the last one Sony sent, and look at all the messes that made. No, precious little Beth, the things the other manufacturer sent you will not work with this one. That's right! That is why all the games you have made for the PS3 don't work, you tried to use what the 360 guys sent you. What did we learn? Yup, that's right Bethesda! When a system manufacturer sends you something, read, study, and learn. Here, have a cookie.

And do you believe that they will do that in the future?
I am not even sure if bethesda was actually present at the meeting and IF they were I bet they were sleeping through the whole thing.
The way I see it they will continue to step on us if nothing is done before the ps4 is a reality... After all they have done that up to this point, so the odds are that they will continue unaffected.

Skyrim will be when something is finally done. They will either start actually doing some real work on Sony consoles, or they will end their support and title release completely. The media exposure is too great to overcome with this one. After I made my previous post, a thought occurred to me:

What if Sony didn't even bother giving Bethesda the specs to their new system? If I were Sony, it would take massive convincing from Bethesda to make me consider letting them do anything on my new console taking past history into account and the massive black eye from Skyrim. Every time someone demanded a refund from DLC that broke their Fallout titles, Bethesda didn't bat an eyelash because Sony was the company that had to issue the refunds. People are calling in to Sony angry because their Bethesda titles aren't working. Bethesda has released broken games on the PS3, and left them completely defective, seeming not to care. If I were Sony, I would call Bethesda into a board room, look at them, and say "if you want anything to do with our new console, you have to first beg, then we will write some contracts regarding the state of the games and the support they are given as well as the treatment of our customers."

I may be in Sony's best interest to not even bother with sending Bethesda anything. Judging by past history, Sony would just be wasting money on the postage.

I respectfully disagree with you on all accounts. Vanilla Skyrim works excellent on my PS3. I have had a freeze or two, a floating odject here or there but the game has been amazing. The only problem I have had was the water freeze and that fix was pretty easy.

I think you are neglecting to realize the amount of content that Bethesda has given you for a measly $60. You are not entitled to DLC. Neither am I. If that was the case, it would have come with the original game.

Waiting for the DLC has been tough, I admit, but nobody has defrauded you, lied to you, or done anything in which your post suggests. Skyrim is fantastic on my PS3. It has been since day I bought it on 11/11/11.

Skyrim works for you, great. But for me, and a LOT of other PS3 players the game is pretty much unplayable still. I experience constant freezing, and lag when playing. I can't make it more than an hour without having to manually shut down my PS3. Kill-cams activate on misses, and mounted combat only serves to freeze my game. Not to mention shop-keepers disappearing.

The user agrrements and warranty in the manual guarantees us a working game without defects. It's been a year since release and Skyrim is still broken for a lot of people. It is completely unacceptable.

Perhaps the problem isn't Skyrim, and instead its your PS3? I don't think you can blame Bethesda for defective hardware.

The PS3 is not defective and Bethesda is partly to blame for the issues Skyrim is having. Sony is at fault for the system memory on the PS3 but Bethesda is at fault for not coding the game to work with the lesser system memory. Skyrim's game engine can't dump information on the PS3 system memory in the same fashion it does with the 360..

Is my PS3 just different? did I just get lucky and got the 1 machine that doesn't cause Skyrim to crash every hour, to drop its framerate so that its unusable, that basicly gave me the proper Skyrim experience that no other PS3 owner was able to get?

No your PS3 is the same its the way you have done things in the game, your not bogging down your system memory. This does not mean that it could not happen though your still open to the same problems everyone else has had.

If it was defective hardware, other games not made by Bethesda with similar demands to Skyrim wouldn't work on the PS3 consistently either. However, they do work consistently.

It's not my PS3. Every other game I've played runs fine, Oblivion ran WAY better than Skyrim does. I stopped playing that after my main character's file corrupted. The only problems I've really had are with Bethesda games, but besides New Vegas they've never been as bad as my Skyrim experience.
