They are not basing design decisions off of WoW, these are typical MMO designs since years before WoW.

Please learn a thing or two about gaming.



It's not a WoW clone. Give it up.

No, point out where some one said "WoW invented MMO's". So stop saying that if you can't even provide a claim that was never stated.

Basically, what I see here is a good idea gone bad.

TES MMO? There are who knows how many fans who would drool all over this idea. This is one of those ideas that get people to post those "Shut up and take my money" pics en mass.

What we got?

Cookie Cutter mmo with the TES name, and with blatant lore violations at that. An alliance between Nords, Dunmer, and Argonians? At that time period? Are you serious? It's not the only flaw, but it's the most notable for sure.

Look, you could have had something magical here... a brand new type of MMO... but this looks so....


Normal... Boring... I've seen this before, did the stupid "Collect ten bear asses" quests, got really bored after a few hours, and just... moved on. Morrowind and Skyrim kept me playing for Hundreds of Hours, but a game like this... I see myself losing interest in after only a few, given my past few attempts with MMOs.

I'm not mad. I'm just really disappointed. So much wasted potential...

Blade and soul is being made by NCsoft who have years upon years of MMO experiance................ to expect ESOnline to be close to it is................ unrealistic.

But it does real time combat, the devs of TESO said it can't be done :blink:

Man, after the news on why LA canned SWBF3 and now this, I'm seriously considering quiting PC gaming and going back to the good old table top gaming.

So? plenty of shooters have stats that affect your combat abilites like RPGs.

It is totally irellivent.

the way the world of planetside was set up was completly diffrent then that of a Fantasy MMORPG, to assume that becuase something worked for that game, in that engire, in that world would work for a diffrent game, using a diffrent enigne, in a diffrent world is silly.

Nothing anyone says will make it a WoW clone, its too much like GW2/DAOC.

WoW clones aren't called WoW clones because WoW innovated(moving from EQ/DAoC to WoW was an easy transition). They're called WoW clones because WoW is the big success story that every publisher wants to replicate. They aren't called DAoC clones or EQ clones because no one is trying to topple those games.

So you go from "it's an FPS to FPS can play like RPGS, so what."

I'm pointing out that ZO can do it, if they tried. And they give us an excuse of "It's to hard" instead of actually trying (if they had failed, I would give them props for at least trying). And may I remind you Rockstar used the Rockstar Tennis engine for GTA IV, so the engine argument is void.

Not topple, perhaps, but if they didn't want a piece of that pie, they wouldn't be designing what looks to be an MMO of EQ lineage with a TES skin. TES has its own lineage that offers plenty of inspiration to build an enjoyable multiplayer experience that could attract and - more importantly - hold players that aren't looking for more of the same by a different company.

Let's put out an MMO litmus test. Given the(admittedly limited) info we have on TESO, what are the selling points of the game. What does it have to pull people away from whatever MMO they are already playing? Keep in mind that being TES doesn't count, because if Star Wars isn't big enough to make a by the numbers MMO succeed, TES sure isn't.

Maybe it's not, but it will be a side-effect *if* TESO is a success (which it won't be) because TESO is obviously a WoW clone.
