save Elder Scrolls Online

It's absolutely staggering to me that people can write descriptions of the game that are more in-depth and detailed than the only existing preview of the game.

You guys really ought to put those psychic abilities to use on the stock market, because they're wasted on trivial pursuits like warning the world about how a game you've never played is already a WoW-clone.
10 internetz for you sir.

-Original fan base mad as hell
-300 Million Dollars
-5 years in development for a WoW clone

QFT

What does qft mean?
Im old and dont know your newspeak codes.

In any case the post you quoted is pure bunk.
I dont care what side of the fence you are on, if you really feel the need to make your point not by explaining it using logic and reasoning, but by making the other guy look bad, you have already lost.

it means quoted for truth.

and yeah, it seems the vast majority of naysayers are simply talking through their... hats.

I think it means 'quoted for truth' and I agreed with his assessment that many people are condemning this game for things that they can't possible know yet. The Game Informer article was not that specific about many of the gripes I've heard and we need to wait and actually see the game in action before these 'sky is falling' posts can even begin to make sense.

I really wish more people would talk about their own experiences and thoughts, and not about why someone else is an idiot.
It really is indicative of greater self-awareness when one can recognise the mechanisms that make one instinctively antagonistic against anyone not of the same persuasion and then be evolved enough to refrain from doing it

This couldn't be more accurate. You're a modern Nostradamus; especially with the last comment. The mad will block out the sun.

I agree that personal attacks are not necessary, and I also agree that one's own response should convey logic. However, this is a discussion forum and when you are discussing things with people who are making statements that lack any sort of logic, I see nothing wrong with pointing that out.

This.

There's a difference between ad hominem, and attacking a large group of people for their universal commitment to fabrication.

The devs also said player housing in an MMO can't be done. I'm guessing most of them just graduated.

From high school.
Stupid lazy devs, doesn't Aion have implemented housing in a game engine that is, meh.. 8 years old?

The actual quote says that they didn't think they could do it in the way the fans would want. If you think about Skyrim with actual houses in town you can go into and buy- maybe they meant they didn't think fans would be happy with an instanced zone for houses? Personally I wouldn't mind an instance for houses.

SWG had almost perfect housing like 10 years ago.

After playing Skyrim all day long I can say that I would probably buy the game if it had first person view. That for me is key for immersion

And housing can easily be done. They should just make it instanced.

I'd rather no housing than instanced housing to be honest. Instanced housing is the worst.

Care to explain instances zone housing? I'm something of an MMO-new player, sorry.

But player housing doesn't need to be much. Just a few houses to choose from - lets say each player can only own one house, and there are player houses available in each province. Heck, even guild halls with player-owned beds and storage would be enough!

An instance means it isn't part of the larger world. You'd pass through a gate or something and the server would zone you into a housing area where people's houses are located - this is a trick done to avoid trying to have a city large enough to house thousands of players. Many MMO games do it this way.

Save it you say?
Dont let your race determine your faction.
Dont screw up the lore SO badly! Argonians fighting alongside the Dunmer and Nords to conquer the Imperial City?! What the hell?
Dont make it look like a cartoon.
Make it 1st Person and realtime combat for immersion and fun.

People keep saying this.

I can only conclude they know nothing of TES lore whatsoever, at all.

And, as previously mentioned, SWG never had any players because it was universally acknowledged to be a failure. You can't claim that an MMO has "perfect" anything if it never had any players to put that statement to the test.
