Say no to ghost towns. Part 2.

I think the point is there is too much consequence. If vampires kill off people who give quests and people you sell stuff to how will you play the game? You still can it just won't be too fun.

All non-guard NPC's should just be scripted to flee to their homes, or shops at the onset of an attack instead of charging the vampires with a dagger and getting annihilated.

Yes! Honestly, there are so many easy fixes for this issue. Beth really should've listened to us when we told them it was an issue. Guess they were too busy with other bugs, though.

That's a good idea, however they should also make it that if the vampires kill all the guards in the area, the vampires could then go into the homes or shops and attack the NPC's in there.

That means that there is still some motive to stop a vampire attack from happening, sure you would have more time to do it because the vampires have to deal with the guards before going into the buildings.

I just want some form of consequences for not attacking vampire raiding parties instead of just dead guards.

We have to have a REASON to care about stopping attacks.

No we do not need a reason. You give yourself a reason to do such an action, not Bethesda.

If there is no good reason to stop vampire attacks then what is the point of even having vampire attacks?

Same goes for dragons. If the dragons could only kill guards and not other NPC's, there would really be no reason for me to stop said dragon if it is attacking a town/city because i know that it won't be able to kill a shop keeper or someone who gives out quests.

But one of the reasons why i attack a dragon that is attacking a town is that i don't want to see a shopkeeper dead or NPC's that give out quests, so i fight the dragon.

You kill the dragon to get the soul...and the crafting materials, the saving the townspeople is just a bonus.

They happen WAY to frequently just like dragon attacks. I get tired of fighting a dragon everytime I fast travel to a city or town. Now I have to deal with vampires? [censored] that.

I'm not the only one pissed off about dragons though. I talked to my cousin recently who also plays Skyrim, and he has 47 dragon souls from dragons attacking cities and towns. 47! FORTY [censored] SEVEN! That's just absolutely ridiculous

But saving the townspeople is still an important part. Take that away and it takes alot out of the experience, for defeating a dragon attacking a town just won't be as fun.

If beth made it so dragons did not attack non-guard NPC's, then beth would have taken the easy way out and this game will just become even more easy.

How about you play smart and don't fast travel into a city/town, fast travel to a location close to one. I havn't got that many dragon attacks at towns if i do it that way.

Why make the game harder for yourself?

I never said the vampires couldnt kill NPC's, I said the NPC's shouldn't walk up to them like lambs to the slaughter. The issue is NPC's basically comitting suicide. The purpose of them fleeing is to give them a fighting chance.

If you leave the city, the dragon will also leave and fight you outside. Unless they changed that in a patch.

How 'bout you stop telling people how they should play the game? If you want to go through the steps to work around Bethesda's screw-up, more power to you. Many of us would like a solution to the problem rather than dealing with a huge inconvenience.

Great! So, I have to play differently because Bethesda can't design a game properly. Sweet.

You know....it only takes a few extra minutes to foot it to riverwood from a close location i had discovered. I use the same tactics for possible dragon attacks, after all, i had heard that fast traveling to cities/towns creates more of a chance of a dragon attack, so i play it safe.

Don't be lazy dude. Whats wrong with putting a little effort into not getting a vampire attack? Nothing wrong about it.
You know, time is limited and it's better spent playing than avoiding glitches or constantly reloading, otherwise it get frustrating.

Not to mention that than once you load a cell, creature in that cell will spawn too; if you enter the Whiterun cell and a vampire spawns on the other side of the town, it might attack / kill an NPC without you even noticing.

I agree, and this should be implanted. After all, im sure vampires could still kill fleeing NPC's, it would just be harder.

However i wonder, if all the guards are dead in a villege, and vampires attack, then the non-guard NPC's could NEVER put up a fight because they would all be running away.

Maybe it should be that NPC's who have a stronger weapon then an iron dagger would stand their ground and face the vamps. I just want a way in which NPC's who arn't guards, can defend themselves, sure some should run away, but if you can give certain non-guard NPC's strong weapons, then said NPC's should hold their ground. This can also give the NPC's who are running away (ones with iron daggers) more of a survival chance.

Um....this thing with dragons not attacking you as much if you don't fast travel often as been around way before dawnguard. I never have seen it as a design flaw. Im sure it was put there intentionally. After all, fast traveling itself is a greaty advantage, exspecially when you need to get to some place fast and you don't have alot of time in real life to do it. But i think beth also intentionally put a drawback to fast traveling, that is of course there being more of a chance of dragon attacks.

Dragons will also follow you outside of the city. They're slow to attack and you see them (and feel them if you're using a controller) instantly. If you're mucking about around the Skyforge, how are you to know that some master vampires are slaughtering people in the Plains District?

My thing is that I can avoid spawning dragons at all, and still play and enjoy Skyrim. I CAN'T be a member of Dawnguard without vampires attacking cities and killing NPCs that I want alive.

They could at least make it so that vampires attack us as well as the guards, and leave the other NPCs alone.

*Vampires attack. A Master level one charges right at Nazeem*

Nazeem: Do you get to the Cloud District very often?

That... actually sounds appealing, although overall this doesn't seem like a great system, largely due to NPC AI being so stupid that they'll charge anything in the hopes of defeating it with their bare hands or an Iron Dagger.

Oh, so I'm punished for my choice of playstyle by losing valuable npcs, and constantly getting attacked in towns and cities? That's cool too.

Personally, I think this is Beth's way of satisfying everyone who was upset with fast travel being put in the game like myself. xD

You never cease to amaze with your amusing statements!

If I remember correctly, the whole idea of civilians charging in to attack things was something that Todd Howard showed off...

On another point, on my vampire character I only received one vampire attack before I involved her into the Dawnguard questline as a vampire. My Dawnguard character has received multpile attacks and two of them were devestating and caused a reload. While I'm sure I already know the answer, would joining the vampires stop the attacks? It would make sense (this is where I lose faith in Bethesda) for the attacks to increase if you join the Dawnguard, and decrease if you joined the Vampires.
