Basically. When you hit him. 8 dots shine on him briefly. You have to use the paint brush to mark each of those dots, in order, almost exactly where they showed up on him.

Most people use a recorder and playback the scene so they can tell. And even then it's easy to be off one of the marks by just a little and screw it up.(His pattern changes if you fail)
That bastard! I used a marker pen on my CRT screen to defeat him.

Anyone remember KotOR II's tutorial level?
That one was bad, at least int he first game the tutorial level was over pretty quickly so it is tolerable.

I have to say fo rme though quick time events in games, especially if they are out of place or the whole game is based around them. At least if you have them build in a way to keep playing if you can't time the button press right so you don't get stuck on those that are too fast.

Did you really badmouth the 2nd greatest Playstation 2 game (and like 3rd best overall for Playstation across all 3 consoles) ever made ? Okami could be frustrating at first but once you get used to the controls enough to draw the signs relatively quickly and without fail you forget why you were frustrated in the first place. Blockhead Grande was challenging but I managed him after a few tries and seeing him crack was just all the more satisfying since you actually had to focus on him unlike the previous Blockheads.

Okami <3 (and yes, any game no matter how good it is can have faults, and I realize the same goes for Okami, my love for the game blinds me to that most of the time though)

Anyway a section that truly ruins a good game for me doesn't exist as I will play through any annoying section to beat a game I like, but sections that have annoyed me (but not enough to make me quit) have for example been one section in FFX where I had to deal a lot of damage in a short amount of time or I lost the fight no matter how tough my party was, and I was focusing on going paths with my characters that made them tougher since I love high durability far more than high damage output, so I had to grind a lot of levels in a save before that boss so that I could deal the kind of damage the game wanted me to deal in that amount of time, since my defense was pretty much useless. Any game that pretends to give you choice shouldn't lock you out of having a choice like that. You should be able to choose what aspect of your characters you wish to focus on and then beat the game using those aspects properly.

Ornstein & Smough for me. Totally ruined the whole thing. I haven't touched the game since.

You not being fair against those two by rage-quitting! And oh my the.. nice "chest" you'll be seeing once you defeat those two! Just summon knight solair and any white phantom in addition and you can't die. :D

any white phantom

Not back when I still played you couldn't. Three whole days of trying that fight with nary a single soul sign in sight sealed the deal for me.

It gets much worse on NG+. I did co op with a guy (helping me) he had hgh vit and havels armour, he got 1 hit killed by smaughs hammer rush.

On your first playthrough just use soliare nd maybe summon someone if there is sign. My advise, kill smough first, ornstein is easier imo. It also annoyed me in dark souls after finding out enemies attack through walls. Not jsut ghosts, but thinks like titanite demons. I dont think I will play it again tbh, NG+ makes it just too annoying for me, in black knight armour +5 channeler stabbed me and insta killed me. Yet they take 3 hits from my black knight halbard +5.

I would rather an option to lock difficulty, but it started off as fun, with nnoying things. But NG+ took away more of the fun, and made it more annoying.

You don't actually gain anything (directly) from entering ng+ like you did in demon's souls. Most everyone who plays dark souls every day for months and months will do builds which either finish on first new game or take advantage of a new ng+'s, like my dexterity CMW user. (I was able to obtain 2 of the same buff effect thanks to ng+). Then, once the build is done, you either invade, help others or wait to be invaded in kiln. In ng+, you are able to leave a few more places open and still have all the good gear from completing the full game, so you have home advantage nearly everywhere if you want it.

Boss rushes. Really, guys? Do we have to fight every single boss in the game again? Are you really that lazy to just come up with something new? Okay, I guess this doesn't ruin all good games for me, as I still enjoyed Okami, Viewtiful Joe, and Devil May Cry 3, but it's still annoying, and a good reason I won't be caught dead ever playing a non-Legends Megaman game ever again.

Kick yourself in the head.

I love the boss rushes in Megaman. Probably one of the more enjoyable points in the game. Really gives you a feel for how much more powerful you've become, that you can just nail all 8 bosses in a minute or two.

Nearly any escort mission. And nearly any timed mission. I really wish games developers would get the hang of the idea that most gamers hate them (or at least seem to, based on the feedback I've seen).
This - and underwater levels. Ugh.

Oh, and those Crash Bandicoot levels where you had to run "backwards" with a large boulder or whatever chasing you. :swear:

Those who are truly committed to the art of idleness don't object to expending more effort than they would have done on the thing that they're avoiding. It's a deep and ancient philosophy comparable to... oh, I can't be bothered.

Is it comparable to [insert really short single word].

On topic the rat quick time event in bf3 was laughable, but I thought it was meant to be a joke.

The only reason why this ruins the game is because I was too afraid of actually playing those parts myself, so I let others do them for me

Never understood the hate for underwater levels. I havent played many I can remember, but is it the need to find oxygen that nnoys you? I have seem a few people who have hated water levels. I have never really cared about them.

Maybe thats why I didnt enjoy SR3 too much. That or the damn brutes.

Havent played KoToR2, how was it bad ?

lso in dark souls, gravelord nito. He has this attack, a scream warns you, then a spike thats insanely hard to dodge, hits you, sends you flying and causes toxin build up.
Just the tutorial was bad simply because it was really long and got tedious. The game itself was pretty good, if not unfortunately rushed.

Any section of a game where your powers are stripped away due to some plot-point. Prototype was guilty of this, but I'm sure I've played other games that did this as well.

I think the usual lack of (or limited) oxygen effectively makes them timed quests, which in common with other timed quests isn't a lot of fun.

I dislike most underwater levels, and there are several things I don't like about them.

Many games reduces your view while underwater, aswell as making you move slower and generally having a harder time moving around. That along with the lack of oxygen (giving you a time limit) makes the whole thing a claustrophobic/frustrating experience for me.

It's not just the lack of oxygen though. I don't know if you've played Ocarina of Time, but the Water Temple is soo annoying because huge parts is played underwater, making Link slower and less efficient than usual, adding to the frustration factor after a couple of hours. We've also got those flooded tunnels in TES/Fallout that is a nightmare navigating around in because it's so narrow and dark.

Surviving waves of enemies with crappy equipment.
The Main boss surrounded by mini bosses.
Bosses who piss off and leave you to deal with waves of mini bosses.

On a positive note, I love sections where stealth is an option, but if you fail, you aren't totally screwed.
Such as the diamond mission in Payday: The Heist.

The "steal the files" side-quest in Stalker was like that: of course you could just wade in there shooting everything in sight, but it was much more rewarding to get away with sneaking in and out unseen. Of course if you got caught, there was always the possibility of resorting to shooting everything in sight!

Egg mission in Monster Hunter. Any mission where you have to carry something that makes you completely helpless across three [censored] maps for this [censored] reward and a "you may continue to the fun missions" pass.

I hate timed levels in games and I absolutely HATE escort and bodyguard missions! That's why I never bought BioShock 2 and also why RDR annoyed me so much. Every other missions was either timed, or required to save something from getting blown up or killed. I also hate races in action games, like RDR and Zelda.
