Seriously, about the region lock, there is no hope?

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 12:53 pm

But that's the problem, some countries like Brazil don't even have translations, at all.
It's the vanilla English version for everyone. Even the boxing is in English :V
So there's no such thing as "translating takes time and money" because there's never been any translation to begin with,at all.
I don't see why we can't be allowed to download the English version D:
That's the explanation i want to ear from Bethesda people here... but they are ignoring all of this situation :ermm:

Canada got the English DLC, why can't we?
It's not like our entire country doesn't already have the English version of Skyrim as well. Because we do.

Yeah same here.
We shouldn't be forced to wait for other countries' translations because we don't even NEED them.

That's why everyone needs to live in the USA. If you live anywhere else, you get [censored] versions of things that don't work, sound funny, and might not even be delivered to you because nobody at Bethesda, Valve, or any other publisher is smart enough to figure out the region locking laws.

Go figure.

By all rights, the English version should be available everywhere right now. The fact that it isn't is probably just idiocy on the part of someone that isn't a lawyer but should be.
That's not true at all, there are a ton of American game developers who create multiple voiced and dubbed versions of their games for international players. I think Bethesda sort of dropped the ball by forcing language on different regions. Especially when you see how many international players bought the English version of the game only to be forced into "native" language for the DLC. ( I hope i'm understanding correctly) This will definitely be fixed, but it shouldn't have happened to begin with. Good luck international players, hope you get the fix you need :)

To be honest, I feel cheated too. I'm not from South America, but my nation has four official languages, german, italian, french and Romansh (almost nonexistent today) and they still put all Swiss users in the german group. Which is really lame, since I don't intend to bash Germany here, but the guys that do the ratings there are often known for being fond of censoring and being pussies about media in general. it's also not helping that the german Oblivion version is godawful, having swapped gender voices, parts of untranslated dialogue still left over, occasional parts were the NPCs are mute and often just sentences where the words were just left out.
But still, should have seen it coming. I knew that there was some kind of region lock on xBox Live, but I never expected it to be bite me in the ass like that. Just looking up some similar scenarios with people having problems with the region lock could have prevented this.
Anyway, I'm pretty much through with this anyway. I'll see in two weeks if the DLC might have a dual language option, so that's that.
Thanks for everyone's answers, really helped me too comprehend all this, this won't happen to me again *g*

I saw http://www.gamesas.com/user/365941-gstaff/ user visiting the forum some hours ago... and didn't post anything... Gstaff was looking and laughing at us? this is a serious problem here.

Are we going to be able to download dawnguard ONLY in local language not in english? if this is the case, we are [censored] :(

Are we able to download dawnguard in english if we have the english version of the game on other countries? we REALLY have to wait until the other language versions to get it on english? SERIOUSLY? well, if this is the case at least we would know...

Are we going to get some answers? :(

Would be helpful to know what countries everyone is referring to. If you imported an English version from another country, it's not something we'd be able to support. For instance, if you own the UK version of the game but you're in Germany, you would need a UK Xbox LIVE account to get the content.

Wait
Does that mean when I have the international release (PEGI rating only, not imported from UK or US, bought in Switzerland with english box art) and german account (it's filled under DE-CH on xbox.com) I still might just be lucky on release?
btw, thanks a lot for showing up Gstaff, the south american community is heartbroken

Because that is how regions work. Would you buy a blu-ray from England and expect it to work in an American blu-ray player? NO. It has nothing to do with languages.
It wouldnt work? O_O

I bought the italian collector's edition, which is only in english (the collector's edition was only in english). For me it's not a problem to wait the DLC on the italian Marketplace, but I want to be sure it will be also in english and not only in italian. Otherwise, I will have the game in english and the DLC in italian...it's absurd.

Can you assure me that Dawnguard will be in english for the other countries too?

If that's so, then why we can't download it right now? it's like Bethesda is discriminating people for not being english talkers :stare: but you are right, if i at least know the dlc is going to be in english when the other languages versions comes out, then i would be happy anyway :P

So, i live in Austria and bought Skyrim while in the UK (UK version). Are you telling me, that i won't be able to play Dawnguard (even after 10th July)? Because that would be a first. I always buy the english versions of games (better VA, no cuts --> Thanks, Germany!). I never had any problem getting the dlc for the games (Mass Effect 1-3, Castlvainia LoS, Borderlands and so on) But for Skyrim - the game i waited for since Morrowind - i need a german version to enjoy the DLC in Austira? Thats just .... :ahhh:
