Seriously, about the region lock, there is no hope?

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 6:11 am

I saw http://www.gamesas.com/user/365941-gstaff/ user visiting the forum some hours ago... and didn't post anything... Gstaff was looking and laughing at us? this is a serious problem here.

Are we going to be able to download dawnguard ONLY in local language not in english? if this is the case, we are [censored] :(

Are we able to download dawnguard in english if we have the english version of the game on other countries? we REALLY have to wait until the other language versions to get it on english? SERIOUSLY? well, if this is the case at least we would know...

Are we going to get some answers? :(

Unfortunately looking at stuff they've done in the past I doubt they'll say anything.

I don't see why you wouldn't get the version in the language you need.

How is it an insult? You were the one dumb enough to buy DLC from a store whose region isn't linked to your own. Go buy some Street Fighter DLC and see if it works with the American disc.. it doesn't. This is COMMON for all games and dlc packages.

Dude,i live in Brazil and here only sells the english version of skyrim. Why i have to wait for the international realese if i going to play in english?

pointless spam removed

jk, I have no idea. I try not to get involved with region and language locks, because they don't always make sense. Sometimes local laws get in the way of things working out logically too. I dunno, you might have to wait for the language packs.

Because that is how regions work. Would you buy a blu-ray from England and expect it to work in an American blu-ray player? NO. It has nothing to do with languages.

What he's saying is that he can't buy any version right now, even though the English version is out already and that's the one he wants. There doesn't seem to be any reason for that. I sorta agree with him, but again I don't really try to comprehend region locking.

So the english version of Dawnguard will not work on my english version of Skyrim because i have a Brazilian Xbox? Doesn't seem logical to me

It's not language locked, it's region locked. That's their point. It's locked out of your region regardless of which language you want. Why? I have no idea. Maybe Bethesda doesn't like South America.

Who knows man.

I know what he's saying, but it's still dumb to buy it from an American store and expect it to work with a disc from another country. Even Fallout New Vegas was like this. You had to buy the Canadian DLC because the serial numbers do not match with the American discs/dlc. It's common sense.. honestly, the fact that the OP is calling out Bethesda as "insulting" just goes to show that they should probably stay far away from technology in general. Want to complain to someone? Complain to your government. They set the rules. :P

It doesn't matter what LANGUAGE it's in.. the REGION that the DISC is made for is what matters. AMERICAN DLC only works for AMERICAN DISCS. BRAZILIAN DISCS will use BRAZILIAN DLC, regardless of language. Honestly, do you need a how-to tutorial to understand this very simple concept?

Don't blame Bethesda, blame your government. The minister of trade sets these rules and they are pretty much the same everywhere across the globe.

If you have a disc from Chile and you connect to the AMERICAN Marketplace and download AMERICAN DLC, it will not work. It never has and it never will. It has nothing to do with having an English or Spanish version. If your disc is from Region X then DLC from Region Y will not work on it. Derp.

No, not necessarily. If you send a message to a staff member, usually he answers.

How is it an insult? You were the one dumb enough to buy DLC from a store whose region isn't linked to your own. Go buy some Street Fighter DLC and see if it works with the American disc.. it doesn't. This is COMMON for all games and dlc packages.

But I have a PAL version of the game (UK). It's just a problem for the account's region. My account is italian and I can't buy the english version of Dawnguard, even if I have the english version of the game. It's always PAL, but it doesn't works.

AGAIN - LANGUAGE DOES NOT MATTER. Did you download it from the Chile marketplace? Then of course it worked. If you're purposely connecting to the American Marketplace, downloading DLC, and then expecting it to work on your Chile disc, you're a fool. PSN is the same. None of this is new. The fact that you were dumb enough to do it makes me chortle a little, though.
