This, I been sitting back and watching everyone fail so hard over this discussion, also notice that no reviewer ever had this problem nor was it seen at quakecon or e3, its cause there all using slims to play the game, this problem is probably only happening on older models like most other games have, gears was known to load textures slower too and halo reach won't even run coop on some 360's.
I hate to say this...but your theory is seriously flawed.I'm playing on a 360 slim and still the game has texture loading issues even when playing on a slim..so yeah.

Has this only been reported on the 360 or has it happened on the PS3 aswell?

it has to do with the cache the ps3 catch auto cleans when it shuts off the xbox has to be manually cleaned out

My newer Xbox elite (old model, but newer elite if ya get me) doesn't get hot when I play games from the disc. However, I don't remember if it's noisy. Havn't played off the disc in probably over a year. I will play for an hour from the disc then install it to see if I see any difference. Of course, I'm not getting the game for another 23 hours (exactly (if I'm first in line (which I won't be (lol, quad brackets)))), so... Will have to wait and see :)

oh wow I didn't know, I have only had the slim after a 360 exclusive tittle forced me to get my ps3 a friend :slap: But I have always heard they were so loud and just thought it was really devoted fan talk as I have both consoles literally right next to each other *sometimes both on at the same time* and I haven't heard a whisper from either of them and if anything my ps3 *slim* is louder just cause it makes a little beep when I turn it on :poke:
Do you like the Slim? I have heard that it much better than the previous iterations. I have had my Xbox since 2006, so I will need a replacement before the next generation comes out. (2013?)

you guys do realize bethesda might not answer you guys about the issue on purpose right? They might have a patch for that but prefer to keep it for the official launching date.Besides I don't know why people complain,I'd rather play it buggy early instead of waiting for friday as I have to do right now

Unfortunately I do not notice a change with the usb too ...
I hope the team will work on a patch as soon as possible for these low-res textures.

I return to play Skyrim, Thanks all!

Thanks for cutting into your game time just to answer our questions and experiment.

I wonder why Bethesda still hasn't commented on the issue.

I was reading on GameFAQ's forum on Skyrim and saw a user post something about not having the texture issues while the game is installed, he had an older Xbox, Pro 60GB Harddrive and had cleared the Cache before starting. So is this a newer xbox issue, a universal xbox issue or something else, we will know on Friday for sure.

Someone over on NEOGAF seems to have identified how to replicate the problem 100%.

Apparently according to him, it has nothing to do whether the game is installed or running off disk.

The cause is: the in game menu
When you bring up the in game menu, the game world goes blurred, while you have the menu up (for faster menu loading), then when you close the menu and return to game, the items you're wearing go low res.

So to sum it up

Good textures
Bring up the menu & close menu
Bad textures

This dude seems to have replicated it 100% both installed and not installed and clearing HD cache.

So looks like the problem lies with the ingame menu not 'restoring' some textures after it has been closed.

*sigh*

That doesn't count.

Nothing against Pete Hines, but he's from marketing. He knows nothing about coding.

Until an actual dev from Bethesda comments on this, I'll take anything Pete says with a grain of salt.

Again, nothing against him, but he has been wrong before.

Apparently he's been traveling a lot lately. Maybe he wasn't fully comprehending the question.

Wow, that could solve some problems although how to get rid of the low textures is another matter.

This makes alot more sense. So maybe the textures take a longer to load.

If that really is the case, that can be fixed very easily.

Bethesda! Assemble!

Its almost the same thing as what would happen with oblivion for the Xbox

Oblivion for xbox
Xbox 360 Fixes
One problem specific to the Xbox 360 is that the cached game data can become fragmented, leading to a gradual deterioration of game performance, including lagging and screen freezes.

This what is happening in skyrim it the same issue that oblivion had for 360 that when pulls off the hard drive. The cached game data not syncing correctly . The xbox does not auto clear the cache. When playing of the disc the cache is not used to filter the data off the hard drive instead its pulled directly off the disc. So they is no fragmenting of data.

The ps3 does not have this issue becuse
The game's cache file cannot be defragmented manually as can be done with the Xbox 360 version of the game, however, according to Sony, it is done automatically upon switching off the console.

I'm pretty sure the NeoGaf post confirmed caching wasn't the issue at all.

Just replicated it and yeah the blurring of the hands and weapons happens exactly when you bring up the ingame menu, needs to get fixed asap.

So the 360 ended up being the inferior version.

Gotta love the irony.
Even though i am getting 360 version i never wished for it to be superior than PS 3 version, just equal.
And this is how it ends...

So can someone with the PS3 version test this as well? See if it's just an issue on 360 or PS3 also.

So what if you sheathe and then unsheathe weapons? Does it fix it? How about unequipping and then equipping?

No Not really, should be easily fixable by removing the blur from the game when bringing up the ingame menu.
