[Xbox360] Skyrim Bug Instalation Textures

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 1:14 am

Really?
it will wear out the disc? how long does that take? couple days?
I have a 250gb Slim 360 and there are some games I install and some I cant be bothered installing and I have never noticed this "my xbox turned into jet engine and was on fire and shaking the house down with noise" problem. Is it only with the older model consoles?

I have an older model 360, the poster you quoted exaggerated the noise level and I've never heard of a disk being ruined from over use(nor have I had it happen to me and I play games a lot), only from the 360 falling over while on.

I own the older model of Xbox 360 "elite version" with 120gb. The console heat up pretty fast and that degrades performance and it wears on the console.

I've never had this problem either, and I have the same 360 I've played on for a good 4 years now. Methinks it's exaggeration, but who knows? Maybe we're just lucky.

There are SOME improvements to the Kinect Xbox 360s (S models) such as quieter fans, but they're still prone to overheating, gpu failing and disc drive breaking.

Remember a year or so ago when there wasn't an option to install games to the HDD? Just act like it's that time again.

Could be the enviroment too. If it's a decent temperature then you probably won't have a problem depending on length of time that the game is being played.

This seems to be the case currently, and yea I hope so too. I install all my games to avoid any unneeded wear and tear on my 360.

Yes, it sounds like a jet taking off in the room. I have one of the original issue (13 gig HDD, no HDMI) - It died under warranty, and MS fixed it, but that was several years ago. I can usually install 1 game, so it looks like Tiger Woods golf 2011 will go !

Does anyone know how the loading times are? since everyone on the 360 is going to be forced to run of the disc until it gets fixed

this
i rarely install games on my 360 (only have an old 20 gig so i need every bit of space i can get) and ive only had 1 game disk 'die'
and that was because my 360 tipped over and the disc reader went bat [censored] crazy and etched a crop circle into the disk
that's the exact same for me! Unfortunately it was Oblivion in the drive. Now it stays horizontal.

oh wow I didn't know, I have only had the slim after a 360 exclusive tittle forced me to get my ps3 a friend :slap: But I have always heard they were so loud and just thought it was really devoted fan talk as I have both consoles literally right next to each other *sometimes both on at the same time* and I haven't heard a whisper from either of them and if anything my ps3 *slim* is louder just cause it makes a little beep when I turn it on :poke:

I personally as an xbox360 owner has never had that problem with any game and I have an elite that is 2 years old so I think that is only happening to people that have the arcade or pro 360's

This, I been sitting back and watching everyone fail so hard over this discussion, also notice that no reviewer ever had this problem nor was it seen at quakecon or e3, its cause there all using slims to play the game, this problem is probably only happening on older models like most other games have, gears was known to load textures slower too and halo reach won't even run coop on some 360's.

There are 45 min of uncut gameplay of the 360 version on youtube right now. From what I can see there are no texture issues to speak of and load times are totally reasonable

Note: don't watch if you want to avoid early game spoilers.

Thanks a lot. Now this thread will get locked.

I have a thought. Maybe this 'bug' is a deliberate thing, there as way of punishing people who play before release? It's unlikely (or presumably it would be affecting all three platforms), but worth a thought maybe?

Edit: Okay, 'punishing' is too strong a word. Perhaps referring to it as a 'disincentive' would be more appropriate.

I've got an old 360 a few years old & never noticed any excessive noise coming off it while playing games from the disc drive...may as well carry on then
