Exactly

The Last Remnant may be the best example of better performance after an install.

Actually, Fable 2 is.

As tricky mentions I haven't run across a game that loading to the HDD has made a big load-time impact. Some have claimed Oblivion but I haven't tried that.
Oblivion on PS3 had waaay less loadings than 360 and i guess that is cause install was mandatory on PS3 and 360 still didnt have install option then.
I am assuming it is same in Skyrim.

every test thats been done shows there is very little bennefits to load times, so i dont know what you mean by " much worse ". i myself have never noticed any diffirence

Oblivion had a pretty nice effect for me when I installed to the HDD. Reduced some loading times by a few seconds...

So are we concluding that it's not wise to install to the HDD right off and wait on that? The game still looks okay right?

I'm testing Oblivion right now and recording it.

Haven't tried this so i'm interested.

Here is what i did to finally fix my texture loading, i took 1 of my external usb HDD (7200 rpm) that i use for my mediaplayer and made a 6gb FAT32 partition ,then i connected this drive to my 360 and chose to use that 6gb as xbox 360 storage installed the game onto it,played game and voila texture loading fixed.

Why hasn't this been patched yet? It seems odd that a glitch this significant is actually real when a game has been in development for so long....

So basically, I'm skeptic.

... I didn't even know you could do that. I have a bunch of HDDs...

1. There is a significant load time difference on having the game installed...?

Do you mean the load times are longer with the game installed or on disk?

Not my post but saw this on gamefaqs. It's harsh but i hope bethesda is reading this

"I'm not losing any sleep, but I sure as hell have lost pretty much all my excitement towards the game.

And it's not just the hands, it's ALL in game textures, that's plain to see.
So yea considering I expect the game to look like what we've been shown when installed to the HDD(and that is a completely realistic expectation), I've got right to be upset about it.

I shouldn't have to do handstand workarounds, some of which require spending money on flashdrives, or subject my console to wear and tear.

They have no excuse for missing such an obvious bug. We are not beta testers, I am not getting paid to see all these bugs that they'd have had to have been blind to miss.

This is just another example of lazy or non-existent QA, in an industry where this sort of crap is becoming pandemic. Excuse me for having standards, and expecting a quality product.

We've all been waiting for a long time, we shouldn't be in this position, where we have to wait longer, or ruin our experiences by suffering through horrible textures/subject our consoles to mechanical wear and tear/listen to the leafblower fan noise.

They patch other issues day 1, but not this? Something that everyone is going to see? And they even went so far as to officially deny it exists, this is unacceptable. Are you really ok with them considering you stupid?"

I'm getting sick to my stomach...if they do deny the existence, then that means we'll never get a patch....and I'll probably call and ask for a refund....and my heart will be as broken as the textures.

Since I'm not familiar with using a flash drives for this sort of thing, anyone savvy with this know if a PNY 4GB mini attache would work?

No. Formatting it to your 360(mandatory for this method)puts its storage space down to 3.6 gigs. JUST under the amount needed.

Where do patches save to on 360?

Also, where can we see what the patches actually contain/fix?

Not a problem, I totally blanked and forgot about the external HDD that I have. Just remembered it. Looks like I'll be using that to play Skyrim.

All we know is that the patch fixes "Quest progression issues" and "Stability Issues" whatever the hell that means. Problem is, some people claim to have a launch patch, Idk if that's the same thing or not.

Seriously questioning those who say saving to HDD "significantly reduces load times..."

As i've mentioned before I've tried it on 3 different games and noticed near zero difference.

Someone mentioned it makes a huge difference in Oblivion...

Just tried:

Not installed:
Load Save- 28.2 seconds
Load City- 14.1 seconds

Installed:
Load Save- 27.05 seconds
Load City- 14.0 seconds

And I have it recorded...

The patch fixes?
Here: http://www.gamezone.com/news/skyrim-day-one-patch-to-address-quest-progression-issues

People who have a patch downloaded? Various posters who have the game on Gamefaqs and on this very forum. I have no idea if there's a difference between a "launch patch" and the '1.1" patch.

Also, Tom Servo, Oblivion was not designed on Xbox with installation in mind at all. It was never optimized for it. Fallout 3 or NV would make for a much better experiment.

Sorry for the double post.

Its annoying how they would release skyrim with a bug like this

Not really, they said clearly the day 1 patch is supposed to be friday,so not sure why people are complaining and begging bethesda for patch.Until Friday they shouldn't expect support or answers, since it's the official released date yet.

Ok, so I know bastardo said that using an external HDD to save Skyrim solved the problem. Can anyone else confirm this?

I'm really just curious, I plan on using mine to install Skyrim anyways, but some more confirmation that doing so solves the problem would be awesome.

Yes yes this this! Please let this work as I have heard so often reported.

I have a 16GB formated memory stick in my USB right now waiting to accept Skyrim.

If this works, no muddy textures, no tears, just Skyrim fun!
