[Xbox360] Skyrim Bug Instalation Textures Vol. 2

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 12:53 am

All this uncertainty could be solved with a simple answer form Bethesda.....>.<

Exactly. I'm slightly upset by how they are acting like there isn't an issue, when there is.
It seems very cynical, like they don't want to acknowledge a problem in case it affects sales at launch.

Which they know it won't. People are buying Skyrim just because its a sequel to Oblivion that looks awesome. As long as there's good adds and positive blurbs, then the game will sell. And once a game sells, that's it, they have your money forever.

Um they prolly know about it already from the testers who were doing early previews. But they'll still keep for friday I think

Also, Tom Servo, Oblivion was not designed on Xbox with installation in mind at all. It was never optimized for it. Fallout 3 or NV would make for a much better experiment.

Sorry for the double post.

Fair enough...

I will try NV.

But the USB drive solution won't improve load times, the transfer rate of the 2.0 port is a bottleneck significantly slower than the HDD's.

Yes yes this this! Please let this work as I have heard so often reported.

I have a 16GB formated memory stick in my USB right now waiting to accept Skyrim.

If this works, no muddy textures, no tears, just Skyrim fun!

as far as i know this is not possible?
how does one install to an external device?

Anyone that plays 360 is doomed to have God Awful textures if they decide to install(and maybe every time you use the menu even if you DON'T install). This is a confirmed issue. Bethesda is completely ignoring everyone reporting on it, and Pete Hines kind of lied to us about it existing....It's a really big problem.

Tried to install the gamedisc to hdd yesterday and the difference in textures was immediately noticeable. Quit the game after 10min and removed the content (and stupid as I am, in the process deleting my savegames to, so had to begin all over from lvl 12 :(). Bethesda, why can't you just officially say this is a big that'll be fixed? I'm very much considering selling the game and getting the PS3 version because of this.

Idk if anyone said this, but I'll say this anyway. http://www.lazygamer.net/xbox-360/skyrim-on-the-xbox-360-is-low-res-without-an-install/ Read this. What does it say there?

"[Update] Apologies this article is incorrect, the texture loading issue occurs if the game is installed not the other way around. We were all at a MW3 event yesterday so this mistake went unnoticed. Thanks to the abuse in the comments though, always much appreciated"

I hope this was helpful.

I just remembered that Oblivion had an issue in the Xbox that made load times take forever. There was a workaround however; pressing one of the face buttons in the controller while booting the game cleared the cache and the game then worked properly. Has anyone tried this?

Hey, a question I can actually answer!

Attach your hard drive, memory stick, what have you via the USB port. Go to Setting, then memory. The external memory will come up and you will be given the option to format the entire device for 360 use or to just partition it. Bingo, external 360 HD.

When you install the game you'll be given the option to install to the external memory or HDD. Just choose the external device and launch it from there.

That's makes logical sense to me, but not what has been reported by multiple sources.

No one can really complain about bugs found in a game not yet released. I know a patch is out now but there could just as easily be another one tomorrow or at least very soon. This hasn't changed my hype for this game one bit. Just play of the disk for a few days until its fixed!!!!

A troll just sent my nordic ass to sovengarde... so I though I might come on here to see what's happening.
I have yet to run into this problem but my friend who received his copy on Tuesday said it had happened to him.

one glitch/bug I've found is that when I got stuck with an arrow... it no longer disappears.
I thought "oh hey thats cool they stay in a little longer now." 3 hours later(real time) and that same arrow is starting to piss me off when I'm trying to check out my cool new armor i've looted. :brokencomputer:

Hey everyone,

I'm in Belgium and I've had the game since yesterday. I can confirm that the game itself is incredible, but unfortunately also that the texture problem is real. I installed it to my Xbox's HDD and noticed some really bad textures here and there. Nowhere near everything, mind you, just particular textures such as moss, carvings in the wall or certain items in the item menu. The problem seemed to get worse the longer I played.
Then I uninstalled the game and played it straight from the disc. At first the problem persisted but as I kept on playing for a while, textures improved again. Now it's only leather bracers in the item menu that still look blurry and bad. Everything else looks fine to great. I'm almost perfectly happy now.

It's just a bit unfortunate that I have to play the game from the disc, not because the loading times are longer (the difference is nearly indiscernible) but because the white Xbox is a bit loud when playing games off the disc. Luckily I have a good pair of headphones. Wearing those while playing the game makes the scrumptious sound that much more immersive, by the way.

Oh, and as for patches, the game came with a 3MB update, so I don't think that's the real release day patch.

Seriously questioning those who say saving to HDD "significantly reduces load times..."

As i've mentioned before I've tried it on 3 different games and noticed near zero difference.

Someone mentioned it makes a huge difference in Oblivion...

Just tried:

Not installed:
Load Save- 28.2 seconds
Load City- 14.1 seconds

Installed:
Load Save- 27.05 seconds
Load City- 14.0 seconds

And I have it recorded...

:ermm:
well when i first got Oblivion on the 360 when it first came out, the game was terribly slow. so much so i stoped playing it because it took like 30 min to load from a save and like 15 min to just enter a building/ city. after i installed it, it ran much better down to just seconds to load. i just hope this issue is addressed soon

1. Install the game on HDD than the textures are better
2. Skyrim needs 3.6 GB (maybe it intstalls only textures)
3. Game looks amazing but some of the textures (Swords, Clothing, Stones) have poor quality.
4. I downloaded the 1. patch but i don't know if that makes it better
5. Maybe there comes a 2nd patch for high-res textures (like in Risen)
6. I think the textures are sometimes in low quality cause of the creation engine but i don't know

I hope i helped

edit: I tried both ways: playing on disk and from HDD and it seems that from HDD its looking better

6.9 gb is all the xbox will recognize regardless of the size of the memory stick. so i would recomand 8 gb
