These low res hands/weapons are caused by going into and leaving the in-game menu.

To avoid this low res bug for now is don't go into your in-game menu.

I guess you all just have to wait until Bethesda patches it.

To be honest, if this was happening for me, I wouldn't care, I would be too focused on exploring and having fun doing so.
That is definitely the cause of the bug. I'm not worried about it either. Even with the texture issues the game is still going to look good.

^ This.

Playing from disc won't bother me much at all until I get the patch downloaded.

I'm sorry haven't been paying attention to this issue.

Is this problem on officially released copies, or on pirated versions?

I got the game yesterday for Xbox, installed it to my HDD, downloaded the patch and I also have the low res texture problem. It does not ruin the game for me and the lighting effects and the scenery far away are still looking good, so I'll play with low res textures until it gets fixed. The menu does not seem to be causing the problems because if Ii start up the game I immediately have the low res textures, not after I open the menu.

Hey everyone,

I'm in Belgium and I've had the game since yesterday. I can confirm that the game itself is incredible, but unfortunately also that the texture problem is real. I installed it to my Xbox's HDD and noticed some really bad textures here and there. Nowhere near everything, mind you, just particular textures such as moss, carvings in the wall or certain items in the item menu. The problem seemed to get worse the longer I played.
Then I uninstalled the game and played it straight from the disc. At first the problem persisted but as I kept on playing for a while, textures improved again. Now it's only leather bracers in the item menu that still look blurry and bad. Everything else looks fine to great. I'm almost perfectly happy now.

It's just a bit unfortunate that I have to play the game from the disc, not because the loading times are longer (the difference is nearly indiscernible) but because the white Xbox is a bit loud when playing games off the disc. Luckily I have a good pair of headphones. Wearing those while playing the game makes the scrumptious sound that much more immersive, by the way.

Oh, and as for patches, the game came with a 3MB update, so I don't think that's the real release day patch.
Just for reference the PS3 patch is 58MB.

Both, it's a problem with textures not loading properly when the game is installed but I'm also getting conflicting reports that it still occurs if you play it on disk. Hopefully Beth on Friday explains in more detail as to why this is occuring.

Did you clear your system cache, that might get rid of it.

I think it is ironic how the version they were always showing off is the one with the problem. Btw i am an xbox user and I think there silence svcks, I can put up with silly bugs but this is immersion breaking!

There is a 0% chance that Beth hasn't been monitoring this thread. They're obviously aware of this issue, they just know something we don't...

0% chance is pushing it. There's equal chance the don't think its an issue, They don't want to admit there's a problem, They want to see how the larger public reacts, or they just plain don't give a [censored].

Probably the latter, they do know about it but they also have more important bugs to deal with. I would rather have this issue then my game randomly freezing or having a Greybeard fall off the top of Throat thus breaking the main quest.

Actually, I'd prefer that, because that would be something they'd be FORCED to fix. The current issue they can just be lazy about.

Maybe it's a payback for you who are playing the game before 11.11.11? Maybe they will release patch on the 11th. I dunno, just speculation. It's not entirely impossible, it could just be that if they can't stop you from playing it, they can at least make it a little less comfortable. Probably not, though.

Well, if it isn't fixed late on the 11th I'll be returning the game, which I pre-ordered months ago.

Why?
I can't stand differing graphic standards (it feels weird when playing)
I cant play off the Disk because the only times I really get to play is when I'm home from work and my fiance is writing her thesis(sp). She would Definitely not put up with my xbox making excessive noise.

I really want to play and enjoy this game, but if it isn't fixed I guess I wont be able to =(

I hope to get my copy tomorrow.....

Is there a chance that different Xbox360 console versions are the problem?

There is no need to get upset. I'm sure it can be easily fixed and it will be.

All 360 patches are small (8MB max i think) cause Microsoft does not allow for bigger patches.
I saw patches on PS3 weight 500+ MB while they are 4MB on 360 and they still fix same things.

Cause patching doesn't need to be big, there only changing code, or text. When you see big patches like that then it usually means there adding new content like new maps or items.

I've been playing the game for 2 days from the disc, haven't installed it on my HDD. The game works fine for me.

I recommend everybody on Xbox 360 to run the game from the disc until Bethesda clears up this issue.

The load times are manageable and the game runs great this way..

I think main reason is that patches are only that - patches.
Bug fixing does not have to weight 1GB if it does not add any new content.
Sony probably allows for patches with new content, while Microsoft allows only patches for bugs and content is supposed to be downloaded separately.
