Skyrim just made me want to play Oblivion

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 10:12 am

Played a run through of both Morrowind and Oblivion just before Skyrim came out but i will definitely go back once i have finished most of the main guilds quests in Skyrim. For some reason i don't have the urge to explore the world of Skyrim as much as i did the previous games. Perhaps i am just getting bored of ES games.

Or you are just getting old... like me :D

Maybe its just me, but whenever theres a another "soon-to-be-heavily-modded" TES I fel the urge to replay Arena. And then Daggerfall.

If skyrim is making you want to play oblivion of all games, then you have serious problems. Morrowind however, I can understand.

To each their own. You don't like Oblivion, that's fine. Myself will continue to play Skyrim and will return to Oblivion, Morrowind and even Daggerfall at some point. I don't get the whole, 'if you feel like playing *whatever game* you have problems attitude. heh.

I kinda wanna play Oblivion again...I miss my Cyrodiil and my fellow Imperials. In Skyrim...I feel...like an outsider. Oh...wait...

Thinking of vanilla Oblivion makes me feel sick.

Prior to the launch Skyrim made me want to play Oblivion again, but i still couldnt play it longer then 15m... infact i had spend houres to instal mods and eventually didnt even used them.
Now replaying Oblivion would simply be impossible.

Vanilla Oblivion, no.

But I have installed some fantastic quest mods for OB that I still haven't finished, I will want to go back to the game even if only to play through the mod plots that I haven't yet seen.

If I can manage to get Daggerfall working on my PC (had trouble getting the combat to work with my mouse when I tried it last!) then when I need a break from Skyrim I might see if I can get that working and have a marathon attempt to play each game in turn - my character in each game would be a descendant of my character in the previous game sort of thing.

I started a new character in Oblivion a few months ago and stopped in the middle of the SI main quest because I got busy with other things. It makes me feel like I left something on the stove and need to take care of it before long. I wouldn't go as far as starting a new character in Oblivion though, and would sooner roll up new ones in Skyrim or Morrowind before that.

I plan on playing Oblivion after I beat Skyrim. Playing Skyrim actually brings me back to the good times I had with oblivion. Call me crazy, I know most people feel differently, but I actually enjoyed closing Oblivion gates.
