Star Wars Episode VII

Post » Fri Jan 25, 2013 11:41 am

Just read that Michael Arndt, screenwriter of Toy Story 3 and Little Miss Sunshine (for which he won an Oscar) has supposedly written a 40-odd page treatment for the next three films,

That gives me a lot of hope. Both of those films were absolutely brilliant.

I think it sounds like it has huge potential. Disney rarely make bad movies and I think they can at least equal what the other films did. Thereis certainly more hope that the next films will be good than if it just stayed with George Lucas

Tatooine dreams
while Mace Windu screams
as light saber beams
become Vader's dreams
a jedi and a queen
caused quite a scene...

in a galaxy
far far away
We'll go and see
Jar Jar Binks play,
while Ewoks sing
and Gungans fling
plasma grendades our way.

Luke and Leia wont be
ruling jointly
instead, I forsee
that the wookie
has had enough
of her guff
and goes back to Kashyyk

In a galaxy
far far away
a long tme ago
that was no moon,
they bombed Mygeto
On Mustafar
the lava did flow
to the chosen one
Obi wan did show
just what the force
wanted him to know
and now here comes
a musical
with C3P0
and R2 D2
It's making me gag
how about you?
Those aren't the droids
we're looking for
we need a crab
a half-fish-half girl,
a drunken seagull,
and a clueless prince
Disney plus Star Wars
is making me wince.

Funny, but seriously, people, there's a difference between Walt Disney Studios and the Walt Disney Company. Which plenty of people know, I know, but some don't. I keep running across people who're saying that Star Wars VII will be "made" by Disney, which isn't really true. As far as we know, Lucasfilm will be making Star Wars VII, no?

Yea...i'm already envisioning the little Lucas Art guy/stick figure coming out of a Disney Castle for an intro scene before the film plays. ;)

Not sure if I said this but I'll say it again. I think Disney should go back and redo the prequels before thinking about continuing the series.

I think Revenge of the Sith was fine, but for the previous two they really needed to work on making Anakin a hero instead of just foreshadowing his downfall, because as the films are now he basically is Darth Vader already in the second one.

And it turns out Vader was wearing a 2nd helmet and beneath that was the charred face of Goofy. The Emperor was really Mickey Mouse being thrown into the power supply for Disney World here in Florida. :P

There better be no [censored] remake of the orignals no need and other things to try.

The only thing they could think about remaking are the prequals. The third was ok but I want a better actor for Anakin.

Besides their doing 7 and possibly 8 and 9.....also not really into the whole expanded universe or focusing just on Han and Luke, their both awesome but I want to see New characters.

This whole thing is just appalling. An abomination really. I will never consider any of this new crap related to Star Wars.

As someone who has done acting and worked with a couple bad directors, I'd say the consistently wooden and sterile delivery of lines in the prequel films leaves little doubt as to who is to blame. It can only be Lucas's direction, and the flat delivery is a deliberate homage to 40's serials. It might sound good on paper, but in practice, it is ugly to behold (unless intentionally used for comedic effect).

Some directors give their actors very little in the way of direction, and certain actors flourish under those circumstances. Other actors need some direction to be at their best (I am one). But the worst kind of director is the director who gives bad direction to his actors, and this is Lucas in spades. It's better to get no direction than bad direction.

I haven't seen much of Hayden Christensen, but I have no doubt that he, and everyone else in the Star Wars films, is capable of much, much better than those films would lead one to believe.

Jake Lloyd get's a lot of flack for his performance as young Anakin, but look at the performances of the advlt actors. Ewan McGregor, Liam Neeson, Natalie Portman... these actors have shown in other films that they are better than this. If Lucas's direction caused those actors to give lifeless, flat performances, what chance did poor little Jake Lloyd have?

Thus, if this Disney buy-out means that Lucas will not be directing, then the Star Wars films can only get better. I honestly do not see how they could get worse.

Even Samuel L Jackson was pretty crap.

Uh, speaking about Darth Vader... I heard another http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/357610/Darth-Vader-to-be-resurrected he might be resurrected for the new films.

Fellow old favourites Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia – played by Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher – have already been tipped to reprise their respective roles.

Wait... what...? They want the original actors to play the same roles? Over 30 years later?

mark hamill probably won't fit the role of a jedi with his new physique, but other than that, it could be do-able if episode 7 is to take place 30 years later

They can't hope to rely on old faces and nostalgia to get viewers through an entire trilogy. I hope they realise that and make something that can stand on its own as a decent trilogy.

Without having to read through the whole thread, is this actually legit? I thought it was just a rumour them making a new star wars film. If its true i dont know wether to be happy or furious that they might ruin the film and the series.

spoiler alert..

Luke Skywalker is the head of the new Jedi council, Princess Leia is some senate head honcho, married to Han with kids who probably have more than a smattering of those force micro-klondike thingies in 'em..

they get kidnapped by the next-big-baddie and are svcker punched into serving the dark side.. meanwhile, Han is pissed that his kids have been nicked and sets off with a new kadre of jedi, while Luke can't come along initially because he has bom-mega stuff to deal with back at Jedi central.. same goes for Mommy Leia and the senate.. at first. The droids will be there, since they were vetted to be the only constant factor through out the entire nine movies..
Han finds his kids, they've turned evil, kill the other jedi easy-peasy and capture Han so as to torture him for reasons of a superfluous nature..

This is where Bro and sis Skywalker will make there heroic entry, but instead of swinging from safety lines they'll be shuffling along with walkers.. explain to the kids the error of the dark side, Mickey mouse, Kermit the Frog and the whole dysfunctional lot take off their storm trooper masks and break into song while the ghost of Yoda glimmers in the background, while Jim Henson and Walt are turning in there grave.

@ Old Andy
The evil in this film will turn out to be a dark Jedi portrayed by none other than Lindsey Lohan. Unfortunatley, she will have a twin sister who was seperated at birth from her wihen her parents divorce. Said twin is a Sith lord, but with a penchant for good. Justin Bieber wil also make a cameo as a more compact, efficient form of artificial intelligence, and will perform the requisite Disney musical.

Some updates on Episode VII and a second, untitled Star Wars project:

- It seems J.J. Abrams was approached about directing Episode VII movie but turned it down: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/JoshWildingNewsAndReviews/news/?a=71747#mJsqKuk6L3I7gkIv.99

- Episode VII screenwriter Michael Arndt (Oblivion, Little Miss Sunshine, Toy Story 3) discusses his writing process: http://www.movies.com/movie-news/star-wars-episode-7-michael-arndt-lecture/10759

- According to the New York Magazine's "Vulture" blog, Zack Snyder (director of 300, Watchmen and Man of Steel) has been hired to helm another upcoming Star Wars film (not Episode VII), loosely based on Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai: http://www.vulture.com/2013/01/zack-snyder-preps-non-trilogy-star-wars-film.html

EDIT: Hmm...not so sure about that last part. Zack Snyder has issued a statement denying that he is making any kind of Star Wars film: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/zack-snyder-shoots-down-report-412336

However, Vulture is http://www.vulture.com/2013/01/zack-snyder-preps-non-trilogy-star-wars-film.html.
