Steam finally letting me Pre-load but I'm getting 900k-1MB/sec. Correct region set etc., I should be getting around 2.7MB/sec. Ohwell, not like I'll be able to play it once it has downloaded.
You can. In steam under the games tab click "Activate a product on steam". Enter the cd key and Skyrim will be added to your games list. Then you can preload the game.
I wish this was possible with a retail pre-order. Like downloading the encrypted files and activating them with the key I get with the box. Would be great, as I don't even have a working DVD drive
Getting it at 600kb/s, which is about par for what I usually get from Steam. Normally I can download at 1-1.5MB/s, but for whatever reason, my connection to Steam is always half/third of that.
@ zswan: Isn't it like 2AM there? That's dedication.
No lectures tomorrow so I thought I spend the night with some Skyrim hype and studying for exams. The preload being available THIS particular night (of all my late nights watching skyrim previews) was a happy and long sought after accident
Does anyone know if it is possible to get some sort of digitally distributed CD key via Amazon so I can.. you know. stuff. It seems like it should be an obvious service to provide when they have their own digital distribution service for games.

if you're gonna just get a key then why not just buy from steam?
