Steam is Preloading on my PC Thread 2

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 3:38 pm

Am I the only one getting unusually slow download speeds? I normally get around 900kb/s, however I'm getting only 128kb/s. :brokencomputer:

Try changing your server in the downloads section of Steam settings. I changed mine to the next nearest city and got far better (closer to normal) speeeds

My friend and I had to delete our .blob files to get the pre-load button to show up. But yeah It's pre-loading now. guess I won't have to wait in line at Gamestop LOL.

Old one hit post limit here:

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1253969-steam-is-preloading-on-my-pc-us/

Steam is now letting users pre-load in time for release!

Discuss away!

Steam link: http://store.steampowered.com/app/72850/

Note: If you can't see the pre-load option try and restart Steam.

Thanks to Yukii for the tease!

I'm near the Houston TX area and was using the Houston steam cluster, saw around 1 to 1.2 MB/s

Decided to try other centers. Dallas was worse. Tried Washington DC area comcast cluster.
Whoa, that was faster than local for me at 2 MB/S and at times higher.

So, if your in a panty rush for some reason it might make sense to try some other centers.

Not that it matters that much, Get it in a hour or two or while you sleep off a drunk, it's all in before the unlock.

thats how i see it, many of my friends live in the capital city and have speeds up to 5-6 mbp/s download, i live about 2.2kilometers from the nearest central on copper broadband wich is why i havent gotten vdsl2 yet, im still running on adsl2 for about 12 years now.

Don't know if anyone noticed but Steam achievements are now viewable. I knew there would be 360 achievements but I wasn't sure if it would have Steam achievements or not. Edit: Well some of them are viewable. Apparently the link to view all of them doesn't work quite right yet.

oh and ya that usually happens with pre-loads same thing happened when I pre-load RO2

Downloading now.

But I think I'm gonna cut someone if I can't play it soon.

I've been waiting for this game for 5 bloody years now. Forcing me to wait another 1 day and 7 hours is criminal.

Can't believe how phone companies think their 4G is fast. I've been hearing about stuff in Korea for ages, and I'm surprised not one internet provider has come here to try and make profit with the fasted speed in the country.

Also: Skyrim.
