Still think Destruction is balanced VS. Archery 1-handed Mel

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 3:31 pm

So after watching these videos, I am convinced that this game is utterly broken when it comes to balance.

Melee is way stronger than magic could ever be. It's just the fact that Enchanting, Blacksmithing, and Alchemy are CATERED for Melee types it's not even funny.

Sneak is also horribly broken.

Enjoy the game breakingness.

Who gives a crap? This isn't WoW and you're not competing in PVP on Skyrim.

Cool, doesn't mean my mage will suddenly pick up a sword because it's "better"

But isn't this [censored]? He's not even max level overall character wise.

This is just with max smithing and enchant. His 1 handed is 50. It's unbelievably overpowered.

Obviously a lot of people care, so your question is pointless.

If we're comparing this to destruction, the argument is negated by one word: Impact. Probably the most OP perk in the game, and you don't need max anything to use it.

Two other comments are fair ones...

But, doesn't it serve the person right for maxing out sneak and one-handed? Also, correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't level scaling work differently in Skyrim. Another thing, the game was released on Friday and it looks as though that person is very close to level cap ifnot already there - what a waste of a purchase...

Balance. Single player game.

Does not compute. Does not compute.

You can have fun a million different ways, and none of them affect anyone else's gameplay experience. Working as intended.

People max out certain perks and then complain the game is not balanced? I thought this game was play how you want to play?

I find crafting terribly tedious. What if I don't bother maxxing out those skills?

I actually quite like that sneak has been improved as it makes up for the lack of the chameleon spell. It's nothing you couldn't do with spells in the other games ("Hello, is someone there?" from random NPCs in town when you forgot to take your chamelon gear off) and I prefer that it be a skill rather than magic. It suits the sneaky player better.

It's hard to understand why people are complaining about this. This game doesn't need balance at all, every play style just needs to be viably able to beat the game and I'm finding it is so far. Pretty much all single player games with multiple paths suffer from this and it has never really been a problem considering there is no pressure to play at the very best level of play.

How does this hurt anyone in anyway?

Also, correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't level scaling work differently in Skyrim - the reason I ask [spoiler] That Dragon is close to Whiterun, i.e one of the first places you come to. He hasn't even maxed out 1 handed. This with purely enchanting and blacksmithing and sneak.

Balance. Single player game.

Working as intended to 1 shot dragons right? He didn't even finish absorbing the dragon soul before he killed the other guy.

This video goes to prove that if you Smithing + Enchanting is just way too strong.

Sure, play it how you want, but when it takes you 20 minutes with destruction magic to kill a single dragon on master difficulty, as opposed to .5 seconds in melee, you know that feels terrible.

Okay... Don't use an enchated weapon, or craft your own weapons or sneak? I am sorry, but I didn't realise we were force to do those things! (This is not directed at you, but to the creater of that video).

Finding it too easy? Lower your armour by a grade, or your weapons. Play by house rules, like myself. Finding it too hard? Try another tact. I don't mind people sharing thier problems, not at all, but it aggrovates me when some people insta-come-to-the-forums-and-whine before trying something different - i.e the people who have been playing none-stop since Friday :P

What if you WANT to max enchanting & smithing and becoming ridiculously OP without intending or wanting to?

You honestly make no sense to me.

Why would you GIVE UP your better gear if it becomes too easy? That feels terrible, to give up your good weapons to "make the game feel balanced".

The point of this thread is to give spotlight to the how unbalanced Smithing and Enchanting are. Is it ok for them to be this broken?

Sorry, you are making no-sense. You say you are sheding light on the imbalance, so I assumed you felt it was unbalaced. Ergo, I decided to shed light on how to balance your gameplay untill a patch or mods come out, etc... :)

I truly doubt Bethesda will patch this. They would have to do a large re-work to bring Magic up few notches, and Melee down.

Yar it's like Strong ~~~~~thing ~~~~ thing ~~~~~ thing ~~~~~ thing ~~~~~ weak in damage potential.

I wish I could gather together everyone who tries to be more powerful on a solo rpg, and ignore them from life permanently.
