Tattoos!

Im ok with people with tattoos but personally id never get one myself. To me its just defiling your body, its mutilating yourself, same with piercings. Actually I am offended my some tattoos that express hate, death, and darkness. Oh well it’s the world we live in people want to express themselves.

yes, but i believe our brain can oversteer this if we try to. we're not purely driven by instincts like most animals, we can think
Indeed. We are capable of conscious thought and in control of many aspects of our life. But we can't override our subconscious. No amount of determination will override millions of years of evolution.

I have one on my right forearm. It's a variation on my army http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/56/36_Eng_Bde_SSI.jpg with a seahorse holding a sword by it's tail, and the text above/below; 36th Combat Grp / XVIII Airborne Corps.

Unfortunately the unit has been reassigned to III Corps. Anyone that has served in the U.S. Army will understand my dismay...

Probably not my last tattoo, but that's it for now.

It's okay to not like them, but I don't think resorting to that sort of description is really helpful; it tends to generate more heat than light. Although in my case I've only gone as far as just three piercings and no tattoos and have already decided it's probably enough, I like them: I don't mind if other people don't, but if someone described them as "defiling" or "mutilating"... well okay, I'd probably just laugh, but it's a bit over the top.

But we're still essentially instinctive beings. There's a reason that good looking people have it easier. It's just human nature. We may be civilised now, but our animal compulsions still largely remain.

I wouldn't say good-looking people have it easier...it depends what you're looking for in life I suppose. If you're the sort of guy who loves going out at the weekend and getting laid then yeah, I suppose good looks will help a lot. But when it comes down to finding a long term girlfriend, someone to spend the rest of your life with, they've got a lot of girls to 'filter'. They'll have tonnes of people only after them for their looks who won't want to settle down...when they finally realise that, they'll have to start from square one.

Whereas for those of us who are lacking in the looks department, who are looking for the long term, we have time to get to know someone well before the attraction is there...so we kinda know that the person isn't just someone shallow who's with us purely for looks...we know there's likely going to be some substance there (that possibly made no sense at all? I know what I mean though dammit!).

Anywho, this is still majorly off-topic

On topic: I've just scrapped the last couple of months of work I've spent designing a sleeve...now I'm starting fresh. It's looking like it's gonna cost me around £500 (no colour, just black and white) so I'd best start saving!

I'd only consider getting a tribal tattoo around my upper arm. Only if my arms were large enough to pull it off, which currently they're not. Not too keen on tattoos on most bodies, you need a certain physique to pull it off.
