Tattoos!

I kind of have an idea of what I want. It may sound stupid, but it looks awesome in my head.

Edit: its hard to explain

Well, I've had the idea for mine for about 6 months now. I'm waiting until the autumn though, so I have enough money to get a really good artist in London to do mine. I think that something that is permanent, needs to be done by the best. Unless it's hilarious when you're drunk. :P

I believe a good (honest) artist will tell you if he/she doesn't think your idea will look good as a tattoo. It happens all the time, so don't be hurt or discouraged if the artist tells you they don't think it's a very good design...of course it's your choice and if you want it, you can still get it regardless.

I saw a lady once (Miami Ink I think) that got a tattoo of a grilled cheese sandwich on her. Gotta wonder why, but it's what she wanted, and if that makes her happy...

I don't have any, but I've wanted to get one (or more) for some time. The only problem is that I'm not entirely sure what I would want to get tattooed on me. It'll most likely be some sort of Celtic pattern, but no idea what kind.
My sister has three tattoos though, and so do a lot of other people that I know.

Please never get a tattoo like that, ever. As a New Zealander, it's cringe worthy, just as bad as those people who get Kanji tattoos without any idea what they mean.

You should get "Angst" on your forehead to save time.

Just kidding.

... i think after that i will get a tattoo of hulk hogan making a kissy face, and smileys on my nipbles so that people can't say my body art is too bitter and depressing :P

(on a serious note: my tattoos aren't really so much about how i feel about the world but more or less a simple choice to stay dead when i die , without going into detail its my coming to peace with life and death philosophy. While still giving people the choice to follow their own philosophy. a handfull of my family members were concerned whethor or not i would be mad if they in fact did have me resuscitated, and i said it was a matter of free will.)

Just saw this on Twitter, seemed appropriate to the thread :

A little tattoo in that area can actually be kind of sixy. A bigger one however, no way.

Even worse if shes got one downstairs. :ermm:
Can't imagine letting any sort of needle even close to that area, let alone letting some stranger poke me with it repeatedly.

Yes two.

First I did was the one on my back, the wolves are Odins two wolves, and the second one is his two ravens, Next I will be doing my shoulders as well, and the plan here is to tie it all together as one big piece of plate Armour.

I would love Tattoos, I have been thinking about getting an Ojibwe Eagle somewhere, I am part Ojibwe and I am proud of that. http://api.ning.com/files/ZYj7zjXAxZa3zt72VYYyQuaLzekHlY*9zrhzOySj8EHuQYY0QHXgTo4hCoBz8YJQTSwmMnNAF35cwohtxHDBDlXUs4U0Lq1E/OjibweSymbol.jpg

Possibly the House Telvanni symbol. Was looking at some awesome Biomech stuff, just think it looks really cool. I am one that believes you should get a tattoo that means something otherwise you are going to regret getting it. Don't go get something because it looks cool.

I don't have one but I've thought about getting a sleeve with a design showing the four elements. I don't think I'll ever have the guts to get one though.

This is probably the best advice you'll ever read when thinking about a tattoo.

I'm 20...when I think back 10 years, I was interested in so many things that I just don't care about anymore. I assume it'll be the same in 10 years time! I'm going to be covered in tattoos, I know this. I only have 3 at the moment, but they're all things I've got whilst with mates. You go out for the day, someone says "Oh, let's get a tattoo", walk in and pick something from the wall, get it done...that's it. No thought, no effort...no meaning.

I wouldn't say I regret the tattoos, because I think they look alright...but I think in 10 years time I'll look back and think "What an idiot". So I'm designing my sleeve myself, and it's looking completely personal, with memories and attachments all incorporated into it. Much better than something you've picked off a wall, right?

A question to all: Black and gray or color?

To those that have black and grey: why not color?

I kinda want one but a few things are putting me off. First the most substatantial thing is my gramps doesn't like tattoos at all and I respect him enough not to get it done..at least for now. The second thing is I have no idea what I want really, it has to be something I'll want when I'm older and well most of the things I think of are too big and unrealistic. The third thing is I don't like pain.

Black and Grey on me, purely because of my skin tone. But colour can look really good on the right person! Yours, for instance, look pretty damn awesome...but on me, they'd just make me look washed out and pale :(

two of mine are black and grey, the others are color. The two in black and grey were always meant to be like that, I felt they looked better that way.

Finally found my memory card. http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/6976/1001060h.jpg

I've heard mixed things about the pain. My brother got one done on his foot when he was pissed and said it wasn't too bad, apart from one 30 second section which was horrible.

But I've been in pain enough that I'm not too worried about it. I couldn't handle getting one on like my ribs, collar bone, neck, hands etc. That would be terrible pain wise!

I think with me it's not so much the pain as being utterly indecisive. Part of me likes the idea, part of me is much less convinced. I figure it could be used to conceal some quite bad scarring I have on one arm which is kind of tempting, but overall I guess being noncommittal about it means it's not such a good idea.
