Well, it would take a considerable investment of materials to make the shell corruption-proof. Currently, it looks like it won't spread through ash, so make that the core of the wall, and a Hallow exterior for good measure. The corruption itself would also need to be just a screen at whatever resolution you normally play at, with an inner wall of what I mentioned before to help ensure no corruptors spawn outside containment.

Also it would have to be underground, because as far as I know monsters don't drop souls on the surface. At least they have never for me.

They drop souls on the surface, at least they've glitched out of it for me if thats the case.

The Wyvern drops souls of flight at the floating islands, and none of the hardmode surface corruption enemies even drop souls.

It would take a lot of digging before killing the WoF, but the containment wall should hold corruption if built underground.

They drop Souls of Night. Well actually any enemy drops them, as long as they're in a corruption zone underground, that's my understanding of it.

It looks looks as long as it's below corruption underground, they'll drop.

So, skybox is out, and Mines Of Moria is in?

Just travelled to the dungeon on my 1.1 character and world to see what color it was and saw http://i.imgur.com/ZZnAn.jpg followed by http://i.imgur.com/K8pWn.jpg. I also had huge lag issues going through the corruption when I never did before.

So does breaking the altars in hardmode create new ore, or does it just change existing ore?

It changes existing blocks into ore. The blocks it changes don't have to be ore blocks though.

I am now inventing demented ways to imprision, and execute zombie/bunny/idiotplayers using Glass Chambers, Lava, switches, and pumps to show my love for Science! and my dedication to murdering the [censored] out of things with fire. :flamed:

Another quick question, probably something nobody knows, but if you smash three shadow orbs, do your chances of a meteor crash increase, or will it carry over into the next two nights, or have you wasted your chance to get a meteor on those second two?

Enemies now have a pretty high chance to drop a mana star on death that restores 100 mana, meaning that magic is now a viable weapon. In the old system, you couldn't really use magic, because your mana depleted so fast leaving you standing there like an idiot. Now, as long as you're doing plenty of damage and killing enemies, you can spam magic in the same way you'd hack with a sword or shoot with a gun, you can truly be a magic character now.

In that case I'm going to put on my robe and wizard hat right away!

That's new? That's always happened for me, I think. Actually maybe it was just stars I ran by and spammed... :|

Well they've had stars before, but they used to only give 20 mana, and before 1.1 they were a lot less likely to drop, at least for me. I just got a vilethorn and flipped out yesterday at the frequency of them. :D

I have now figured out a way to trap Goblins/Zombies in a glass trap involving some active active blocks and glass (hence it being a glass trap), and you can kill them with Lava (in otherwords flood them with the stuff via inlet/outlets and then drain it out the same way), kill them with firearms (via wall mounted weaponry, i.e. Dart Trap), or just leave them to rot in there as your P.O.W.

I just need to recreate my trap now to become a prison, with cells and all that good giddy stuff, haha. You can even make miniture versions of it to trap bunnys! I love screwing around in terraria, this update is just what I needed to enjoy it endlessly. :spotted owl:

Well okay, i'll link it but I warn you I took alot of screenshots of the same thing, I think I took a screenshot of the wiring set up. It's a bit clunky and bulky at the moment however, I plan to minimize it and streamline it so I don't have to change the wiring completely everytime I add something.

Damn thing is still uploading, i'll link it in this post when I can.

EDIT: Okay, it's finished uploadin.

Spoiler
Glass traps wiring. The switch above my character controls the Active Blocks which the zombies/goblins/whatever walk over, and when they are on it you just hit the button and POOF, they fall. I would use pressure plates but they delete themselves when active blocks turn into inactive ones. The switch to my characters immediate left control the Lava Drainage, I used a bunch of dynamite below my house to make a giant pit so it just falls into a bunch of water and turns into Obsidian, the lever in front of me controls The Lava flow to allow it to flood the chamber, the switch below me opens a little block which can halt the lava duplication process, and the switch behind me on the top controls the dart traps.
