I'm going to employ a red balloon, cloud in a bottle, water walking potion tactic against the WoF, granted I haven't seen the WoF yet so I don't know what I'm getting myself into. :D

Aim for the eyes.

Yeah, the eyes are the only part of it that take damage.

Do the eyes break on the Wall of Flesh if they take too much damage? I hope they don't as most of the lower part of the underworld is flooded in lava and I have been making a few bridges made of ash to stop me falling in.
Would a water bolt spell be good enough to damage the eyes at range or would I need something better? I also have 24 defense and a Obsidian Horseshoe, Obsidian Shield, Lucky Shackle, Specter Boots and a full set of Shadow Armour. Is that enough equipment or do I need something better? I also found a Sunfury recently so that might help fight it.
I might fight him tomorrow so I'll find out soon enough.

I was able to kill him pretty easily with the Phoenix Blaster (handgun+20 hellstone bars) and Meteor Shot. Bring at least two or three water walking potions to get over the lava during the fight though. Switftness potions don't hurt either. His contact damage hurts bad so you should always try to keep as much distance between you and him as possible. His other attacks are easy to dodge, so mostly it's just run+never stop shooting.

EDIT: Bah, typos. That's what I get for trying to play Skyrim and browse the forums at the same time.

If you can find him, free the Goblin Tinkerer first so you can get a Tinkerer's Workshop and combine the balloon and cloud into one accessory.

Yep, the only thing that stops the corruption is the Hallow biome. You can buy Hallowed seeds from the Dryad to help with that.

The hallow contains some bad things too though, so either way you're going to be facing some tough enemies.

How fast does corruption spread anyway? I understand the problem if you're hosting a server online that keeps the game running 24 hours a day, but does it really spread noticably if you just play a couple of hours at a time?

not completely sure, immediately after i killed the wall of flesh there was a lot of corruption, where i had previously cleansed, but that was possibly spawned in, afterwards it was maybe 5 blocks every 10-20 minutes on the surface, and unlike before killing the wall of flesh, it was corrupting stone blocks

The game does come with a dedicated server or you can get it from the official website. It is just another .exe that you can start with a batch file to load more than one configuration if you want. I think I might write up a small program to run and manage multiple servers and edit them as well. Should be a fun little side project.

Just look in your steamapps\common\terraria folder for the serverconfig.txt and start_server.bat. I knwo mine updated to 1.1 when the game did so I didn't have to wait on anything.

Yes I know, I linked it in the OP. :P

I'm waiting on some Linux software, since the regular dedicated server software is windows only.

I hear it lags tremendously, so I don't know.

You will need Mono to run the server under Linux as it is still .NET based so you could try that route.

That is what the other server software uses, hopefully they finish up soon.

Wow. Redigit was trolling hard when they thought up the Corruptor enemy. I've spent about 2 hours today trying to quarantine off the corruption in my world, and every time I think I've got it mostly squared away, a corruptor comes along and wrecks everything. So much wasted holy water...:brokencomputer:

My town is still pretty good, I run a large world server and the corruption hasn't spread that much yet. The hallow is starting to creep up on the main village though...

I think it's impossible to quarantine it off completely, since corruption goes through sunflowers, stone, sand, etc.

PROTIP: Kill the corruption entirely before starting Hardmode... as far as I can tell it won't regenerate on its own and Corruptors need to have Corruption already around to spawn.

How would you get Souls of Night then?

Aaand a skyfarm works too, I guess.

Well, it would take a considerable investment of materials to make the shell corruption-proof. Currently, it looks like it won't spread through ash, so make that the core of the wall, and a Hallow exterior for good measure. The corruption itself would also need to be just a screen or two at whatever resolution you normally play at, with an inner wall of what I mentioned before to help ensure no corruptors spawn outside containment.
