I have registered to vent my frustration. Never done that before. There are a few people here calling us childish...well their opinion in the matter is so pointless, I don't even know what to say. As for me, I have never had such a terrible experience. I have gone to college for PC repair, and my current computer is my third build. i7 2600, 8 gigs RAM, SLI 580's, 1200 Watt Corsair PSU. I just reinstalled Windows 7, as I wanted a faster HD. This install is only 3 days old. ALL OF MY DRIVERS ARE UP TO DATE. In fact, I always check the version of my drivers before playing a big release (I get insulted when somebody suggests this). The game runs at 50 - 60 FPS for me (although there is a strange stutter that's hard to explain, even after disabling SLI, which I shouldn't have to do). I have not had any crashes, but have only played for an hour, because: Insane texture pop in (Granted it only takes a second to load in, but is still severly distracting, no matter how much I want to ignore it), and the most low res textures I have seen in a LONG time. Honestly, I thought something was wrong with my install, cause no textures could look THAT BAD in 2011. If it wasn't for some extremely friendly, disappointed, NON CHILDISH gamers determined to help other gamers, I would be having these problems too: bizarre seams all over the place and unacceptable tearing. And I am not even an ATI user! (sorry ATI users, it's a [censored] shame the state this game is in for you guys...some of you LITERALLY cannot play this)
I can live with the disappointing storyline, the non open open world, the weird physics (try and find the lowest speed you can, driving into a barrier on your ATV with your guy still shooting up into the air...it's pretty funny), and the small non-game destroying bugs. But I WILL NOT live with this pathetic texture pop in and the extremely low res textures (we are literally talking quality somewhere between N64 and PS2). The economy blows, and I just spent 60 dollars on this mess! And no John, your honest reflection on this game a year from now in an interview fixes NOTHING. How about saying something now? Or are the crafty Bethesda PR reps advising against it? Ya, you wouldn't want to sympathize with us or reassure us, that would be terrible, right? Well, I am not going to look for a refund, as I want this huge mistake left in my library to remind me never to preorder anything, especially from you, Bethesda/ID.
Sincerely
Ex Fan in Utter Disbelief
