Texture Issues

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 3:10 am

It has been released in America only so ppl cant hold back should be americans. I Didnt mention you since u havent posted any kinda BS, right. No harm feelings mate, neither nationalism simply the truth. Im tired of the "CHILDISH" ones among your ppl.

you fail to see my point, let me put it to you this way: if Rage came out in your country first, do you really think that people would not have the same complaints? There not " my people " its a individualistic world, its easy to think that a few common denominators means every one from one country are the same, but that is lazy logic man. the world has a bit more nuance then that. by calling people childish then using an ad hominem do you not see how that may be perceived as hypocritical? i know you were not making a direct personnel remark about me, but by making a sweeping generalization like that you might as well have. im not pointing these things out to attack you, or because i m offended, im pointing them out so that you might see a new point of view.

Now, back to head shots! pew pew.... :mohawk:

Do you really think threads like this help at all? Even the smallest amount of forum research would show you that plenty of people with more than capable rigs are having serious problems after trying all the fixes you've mentioned. If you want to hate on Americans that's fine, but leave it out of the support forums please. It just makes you look incredibly childish and immature.

Someone take this troll's thread down please.

OK make a better engine or get out whining under your moms skirt! IM TIRED OF CHILDISH Americans moaning and screaming like "ive spent zillion$s" on my rig and didnt get a 110% done game! Cmon its release day ffs live with it! Seriously im out of here since noone (except Stewox maybe) could handle this "serious trouble" DAY1 RAGE causes in his pathetic life...lTS GOING TO GET FIXED I KNOW!!!

Name one other place you could pay for something and be delivered and unusable product and find that acceptable?

-Lemon laws were made to prevent that from being done with cars (yeah, its illegal)
-What about a sandwich that was completely rotten and inedible?
-What about a computer that didn't even turn on?

We as consumers were promised a functional game, we were not asked to be QA or beta testers, instead a large portion of the community was delivered a game that either didn't run at all, barely ran, or at best didn't run according to what was promised at the time of purchase.

Therefore, your "CHILDISH" whining is the only thing out of place here, because as a consumer we have every right, expectation, and responsibility to speak up when we have been delivered a faulty bill of goods.

Delivering a half-finished product should not be the norm and the stunt pulled by id/Beth is absolutely no exception. $60 is the price for a fully finished game, if they plan to deliver half-finished, bug-ridden or faulty games, they should make that known ahead of time and charge far less, or at the very least offer a partial refund, much like a restaurant would do if a diner's meal was not served to satisfaction.

don't patronize me and say some that all games have bugs. I've acknowledged that. i paid 60 dollars for a game, and I expect it to be somewhat functional. I'm used to tweaks and patches, I've been playing games for years, this is the first time I've ever been truly upset about something like this. obviously you don't have have an idea for the severity of the type of issues this game is experiencing. and its not a just a few people with [censored] up computers. it is A LOT of people. my [censored] is fine, and so is theirs.

Your pc gamers issues come with that, really every time a game is released there are tons of these threads. If you want to just insert the disk and play you really need to buy a console theres simply no way to ensure a pc game will function given all of the variables especially when something odd like a driver can be the cause of all the issues. The game runs fine on console so its on the user end.

look, I don't usually complain about new games because they usually run fine even though they have some bug. but bugs are not serious. almost 80% when I tweak something or adjust graphic options, everything is just fine. but this game 'Rage' doesn't even have graphic advanced options to fit into your machine. unlikely Unreal Engine, it's really hard to change things in file. I can't even find how. first time when I ran this game after intro video, frame rate was crap (5fps?). it wasn't even closed to photo slideshow. it got worst. texture is unbelievably blur, chubby. thankfully, I found out to change. in AMD catalyst app, I turned off some options, and reduced quality. now I can run it just like normal game. but texture is still piece of crap. I never changed AMD Catalyst app options before because it wasn't necessary. this game is no way that I can run without it. it means that the game is very bad. it's not even closed the word 'optimization'. I don't know what to say. is that all ID software has invested for 7 years (or more)? is that all they can do? pathetic. I can do better than them. no more purchase from ID, or Bethesda. now I can see how Skyrim will mess up with us.

Im almost positive this is the one option that is causing me to not be able to play the game.

It works fine on my desktop but because it has an nvidia card. I however dont use my desktop for gaming as my laptop is much much better.

The GAME is fine, and fun as all hell. the graphical glitches are whats wrong. have some patience and wait for the fix, some thing this big will get taken care of. no need to be overly dramatic, if the issues are not taken care of within the week, thats when you need to get ticked off. other wise, opt for a refund.

No. That's Rage being slow on the uptake. If you're using the Battlefield 3 Beta drivers, roll them back to the last official drivers and try the game again.

It's the game/engine. It's a problem that should have been obvious to QA testers, but I don't think they did any testing on the PC at all. It doesn't seem to be caching textures properly.

Look carefully at the older previews, the texture pop in was happening it that too, but it was on Xbox 360 so we didn't pay attention and didn't notice, and probably didn't think it would be so bad on PC.

Have you got the latest graphics card drivers? I wonder about hard-drive space, and fragmentation. With gigs of data installed, perhaps a fragmented hard drive could cause performance issues...?

I feel for the guys with high-end rigs that are suffering. I'm sure issues will be resolved. I trust id Software.

Regarding texture pop-in, Carmack expected to get dinged for this - it seems to be the way it is despite his best efforts to get around it. However, I thought he said you could increase the texture page size on the PC to improve that. Any way to find out what it is by default? You'd have to bring down the console and figure out the command to change it but it's worth finding out about...

I have gotten the game to run for me by dropping my AA down to 4X but it still has horrid texture pop in and washed looking textures. The texture popin is the biggest distraction, it's every where and at such close distances and happens even if you turn your head slightly. Completely kills immersion and it's literally all I can think about when I'm playing, even when I get into the action it's hard to enjoy it b/c every time I move textures are popping in and out all around me. Really hope they drop a fix for this very soon, they being Nvidia or Bethesda depending on if it's a driver issue or game issue. Honestly I don't understand how this made it to retail, there is no excuse for this. Given how wide spread the problem is and the fact that it's happening on such a wide variety of high end current generation hardware, this had to pop up in testing and they released this steaming pile anyway.

Well, I had the texture flickering and tearing that is rampant among ATI/AMD users. 10.8, 10.9 and the hotfix all failed to address the severe flickering and tearing. But after testing the 11.10 preview driver package, the flickering and tearing are gone. Still have bad pop-in problems, and the frame rate's a little off, but it's playable.

Heh, this is terrible advice from the OP, well not terrible advice but generalized advice and has nothing to do with the problems people are having. I am 100% certain my drives are not fragmented or damaged in any way, I check them regularly and my AV/AS software defrags them automatically. I have a high end build and it's only a few months old at that, I have zero issues with any other games thus far. So yeah, I'm pretty certain it has nothing to do with fragmented HDD's or the state of my PC, thanks.

Yeah 11.10 worked to fix everything but the horrendous texture pop-in for me, too. Doesn't work for all AMD users apparently, though.

Be sure to have a look at the beta drivers we have posted http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1236250-rage-support/. In the meantime, we're investigating issues that are being reported. Stay tuned for updates.

Okay, so I'm sure that ID/Bethesda is aware of this issue now, not that they weren't aware before launch but I'll leave that alone. Has there been a statement out as to when/if these issues will be addressed, even a general time frame would be nice at this point b/c as it stands I don't even want to play this game, the texture issues, mainly the pop-in is just too distracting. It's one thing to have major problems, it's another to not let your customers know what your plans are for fixing them, is this not the place to come to find that? I got the Steam version so there's no refund possible so now all I can do is wait for a fix, so I'd just like to know did they make a statement about that?

Nothing yet. I got the Steam version as well, but if they aren't going to fix the texture pop-in, I'm hoping I can do enough [censored]ing and whining that they'll eventually give me a refund. This is near unplayable.

If I hear any of you [censored]faces complaining about RAGE one more time, I'ma morph myself into Nyan Cat and [censored] you all.

It's the first [censored] day, errors, blurs, texture [censored]s, they all EXIST! :toughninja:

but it's worst than normal situation when new game comes out. admit it.

Hello I have Vista 32 bit the Drivers I see posted are only for Win 7 will these work for me? The FPS in this game is so low it's unplayable for me. I'm hoping better drivers will fix this issue. Thanks
