Texture Loading Issues

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 2:32 pm

I've been playing the game for three or so hours now. Before starting it up the first time I cleared the cache on my console, since I heard that could be the problem. Then I installed the game, booted it up, and downloaded the patch that was available. I didn't really notice textures lacking anywhere, unless I pressed my face up to a wall or ground. I quit out to dashboard, removed the game from the HD, and booted up the game from the disc. Saw zero difference. Quit to dashboard, installed game, repeat everything again.

After doing this a couple of times I honestly can say I can't see any difference at all between running the game from the HD or the disc. Maybe I'm lucky? Maybe people are overreacting? Maybe the patch solved the issue? Who knows. All I know is that I'm overjoyed with my copy, and now I'll just continue to play this beautiful game.

By the sound of this, it could really mean the 'clearing cache' is the answer. I don't think alot of people ever do that anyway, i sometimes do it. Especially when i was busy with Fallout 3, but not for many other games.

Could this possibly be an issue with the TYPE of XBOX 360 that's running it? Maybe the new slimmer XBOX's don't have issues with the HDD while the older versions do, or vise-verse?

Thoughts?

This is a possibility. I know Dragon Age II had certain issues when running on a slim 360.

@Le_petit_Hulk No, what I said was I'm not aware of it nor have we seen it. We'll look into it like we look into any reported problem.

There may be a 'slight' issue, but I have a feeling this is the main crux of the problem. :ahhh:

I will say it for the last time, the game is not officially released yet, when it releases WORLDWIDE, expect a fix, and this is all taking into consideration you have installed to HDD, although i now have two friends online at the moment playing, and i am at my cousins playing myself, and there is NO issues whatsoever, it is playing very smooth, no texture issues, nothing. Either these people complaining have installed to HDD or they have some extinct 360 console that isn't playing the game properly or something... I have no explanation other than that.

Optimistic, why should i be optimistic i am playing the game right now, not a single issue at the moment, especially not texture wise, apart from me chasing a deer with a mace and it clipping into a rock for like a second then rather strangely vanishing for a second, then reappearing outside the rock, nothing else negative has occured...

Im a big fan of elder scrolls and Bethesda but from this article, it would seem they are trying to dodge the issue

I have a feeling that the main crux of the problem is that Skyrim won't look as great as it could.

But it's developed for the consoles, what would you expect...

Well a lot of people are not so lucky. A personal friend of mine got copy early and he having those issues, even worse, they seem to be present even if game runs from DVD.

Tomorrow morning I'll buy copy myself and i am expecting worse.

There's also people saying that it has nothing to do with playing from the disc or HDD, that it's happening because of the menus. This is what is confusing the hell out of me.

One fix, if you are willing to pay for it, is to actually just go out and buy a 4GB USB stick and install it on the USB, since the texture issue supposedly only applies to installing it on the Xbox360 hard drive.

I received the Game Today and played for couple of Hours......

If You install the Game to Your HDD You DEFINATELY have TEXTURE ISSUES.!!!!!!!

If you are not blind you see these Issues almost everywhere.....
On Tables, Wood, Weapons Clothing and so on.

Inside Houses almost every Table or Cupboard looks blurry, it looks like the last layer of the Object is missing. :brokencomputer:
I really hope their gonna fix this soon.

Beside that it′s most definately an absolute Beautiful Game.
Cheers Bethesda. Great Job. :foodndrink:

And the Soundtrack is A++

So to be clear... this is NOT an issue whatsoever if you play off the disc?

No.
If you play from the Disk, it′s fine.

Tested both options.
Only HDD is really worse at the very moment. Sadly

I'll definitely trade disc noise for having the game look the way it's supposed to. Hopefully there will be a patch within the first week.

Thanks for the info.
Is the patch out yet on Xbox live? (did it auto install like they all do?)

Alot of us really want to know if the patch will fix this, though I'm not sure if it is available yet today.

Yeah that does kind of bother me. I'm sure its entirely a marketing thing. They probably think that people new to the series might decide not to buy the game. The thing is, this crap is making me, a long time TES fan consider waiting a little bit to buy future bethesda games.
