The Hopping Dead - Thread #6

Post » Tue Apr 02, 2013 1:44 am

Season 2 did have a few very good episodes. But then the rest o the time there was far too much of this:

Lori: You hate me!
Rick: No I don't. You thought I was dead, I get it.
Lori: I can't raise a child in this world!
Rick: Stop whining.

Shane: I want you!
Lori: I love Rick and not you. But I'm going to keep giving you hope anyway.
Shane: Stop being a tease.

Dale: This is immoral!
Everyone else: Not really. Maybe. We don't know. We can't decide anything.
Dale: But we have to retain our humanity!
Everyone else: Stop whining, old man.

.....for me at least, way way too much of that. And it's not because I have any objection to those being dramatic arcs, it's that they went on far too long/had too much focus - because they had nothing better to do while they were hanging out on the farm picking their noses. Sorta like the "ghost of Lori" thing is being dragged on and on now. I don't hate Season 2 ... it's just that I'd only give it an average of C at best, while the first intro Season was an B+ and Season 3 is also a B+ (if the last episode is awesome, I might give Ssn3 an A).

I get the feeling that what may actually happen in the next episode is that our prisoner groups is...
Spoiler
going to retreat away from the prison, and let the Governor and his men walk into a trap and zombie filled empty prison for absolutely nothing, other than wasting time, energy, men, and ammo. Everyone in the group is ready to die in the fight against the Governor, true, but it's a really stupid plan to try and stick it to him now.

Plus, in the previews, you see everyone packing things into vehicles.

I played the game.
I'll be honest.
Spoiler
I could cry like a baby when Clem had to shoot Lee at the ending of the game. Damn that was emotional.

You know, I thought that would be a good strategy too.

Spoiler
Let the Governor and his men fight their way through a trap-infested zombie dungeon while you make good your escape.

Edit: Question, was the helicopter in Season 2 the one that crashed in 3? Nvm, forgot the seasons are about half a year apart.

It is supposed to be, yes.

That'd make no sense though, one of the guys was alive. and it was like six/seven months after S2. However, they could have just been doing recon through those months and the SHTF when we saw them in Season 3.

To further add
Spoiler
I'm going to say they'll go to Morgan's or somewhere else, while the Governor will go back to Woodbury, and go even more bat[censored] insane. I wanted to say the group leaves the prison empty, while the Governor attacks it, and takes over Woodbury, but with the Governor starting to go nuts, I get the feeling the show would rather capture him going even more nuts than quickly end it.

What does one of the pilots being alive have to do with anything? Our band of survivors have people who were still alive after those months - the people who were using the helicopter could still have people who've been alive that long. I admit it seems a bit unlikely they'd have gas to fly around that long, but then Rick and the Gov still has gas to drive their cars everywhere, so....yeah. Or did you mean something different than one of the pilots initially surviving the 'copter crash?

I thought they connected it to that group of military survivors that the Gov went and smooshed early on. So you have some military survivors ... either as part of a possible bigger group doing recon or on their own, for months. Maybe I have it all wrong, tho. I often wonder if they're ever going to give any more hints re: a more organized, bigger survivor network at some point.

As to the season finale...you know they're going to leave it on some big cliffhanger of some kind. I think the Gov. fate won't be decided until the beginning of Season4. That said...

Spoiler
I think Rick's group is definitely not going to just hang out on the prison walls waiting to be attacked - they don't have the manpower for full frontal defense or offense - but I'm not sure full-on retreat from the Gov. is what they'll have in mind, either. My husband mentioned that when the Gov. tries to hit the prison with all his dudes, that would be a good time to go to Woodbury and conquer or do something dramatic over there, haha. I mean, that could be how they discover/rescue Andrea, if Andrea is going to be rescued at all, or rescued in Season 3.

Edit: The guy with the glasses could rescue her, I suppose. He knows about the torture room, at least.

Well, they did say that the finale for Season 3 won't leave us on a big cliffhanger, that it will set up Season 4 very nice. I'm still confused on how they could possibly do that...but I'm anxious to see! :)

well littlemike, find us another rumor!, please
i have looked and cannot find anything

i do know the actor who plays milton
is on another series

and i know who lives and dies in the comic books, but they really do not follow the comic books

they are other survivors out there
hopefully season 4 will bring them into the mix
i would find that more interesting than the prison
[based on the comic books.. i will not say what it might be. but i do hope they go that way]
trust me with the other groups out there, things would get very interesting, indeed

Well, all we know for sure, atm, is: *Tease, not a spoiler really...
Spoiler
There is one major death for the Prison Family, someone we care about and it will be very heartbreaking, per Kirkman and Laurie Holden. Andrew Lincoln stated; "Something happens that I find incredibly shocking that relates directly to my character and the prison family. It really came out of left field for me and I never expected it. When I read the script, I was really shocked."

I have no idea what's going to happen and AMC isn't releasing early copies of the finale to the press because of the major leak/spoiler that happened for Ep. 15, so I highly doubt I will get a summary for the finale...maybe though, but I doubt it.

Since you mentioned
Spoiler
the prison family, I think it's fair to assume it's not Andrea...besides, it's supposed to be someone we care about, right? Anyway, my money's on Glenn. I've been getting the feeling they're setting him up for a premature exit from the daed.

HAHA, yea it definitely isn't Andrea if it is someone we care about, that's for sure! I really hope it isn't Glenn, there's so much left to do with him. I would love for him to go out after he get's outta this..revenge-state of mind he's in, it doesn't become him. The whole proposal does kinda make us think something might happen...to him or Maggie.

Well, if you think about it, you can't get much bigger than Glenn...short of killing off Daryl, and I don't think they'll do that until towards the very end of the series, if at all. Kinda svcks too, I do like Glenn, and we can't forget that not only did he save Rick's hide while he was trapped in that tank in Atalanta, but he's also been the go to guy for getting in and out of places quickly and quietly since the beginning. With revenge on his mind since the incident at Woodbury, the talk of marriage, and the fact that his character has been moved into the background the last few episodes leads me to believe he won't be around much longer. Almost like he's outlived his usefulness

Assuming the show tries to remain somewhat parallel to the comics, no, as it would alter the plot to much.

i agree, but thats the rumor thats out in cyber space
i think it would hurt rick too much.. too many personal losses
but the show is really not following the comics
or carol would not be alive nor would herschel
the show does its own thing, more or less

they even have added people not in the comic strip
