The Legendary Deathclaw

I don't want to brag but I killed him with a bb gun with 10 shots and my bare fists on a lockpick build. This was VH/HC by the way and I had no companions. My SPECIAL: 1 7 1 10 10 5 5

In F3 deathcaws bothered me very early in the game. After I reached level 12 or 15, they were easy unless one somehow snuck up on you.

The ONLY way I could see them being a problem in Vegas, is if one spawns right on top of you....and I've seen enemies spawn right on top of me several times.

I can see deathclaws far enough away that I've yet to have one get close enough to hit me. I drop them from several hundred yards, usually one or two shots of .308.

Some of you braver folks need to post some vids with commentary on how to take this bad boy down.

I just wish you could keep it's head as a trophy.

If this is true, you rock. Been playing on very hard/hardcoe and have yet to devise a way to take that bad boy down. Hell sometimes I don't even make it to him, the other death claws are a challenge themselves in packs. Have not brought a follower in to help considering it will just KO it. Has anyone (Besides the BB master) brought this thing down on very hard? If so I would love to hear how.

Went through the entire cave 1 headshoting deathclaws non vats with a silenced sniper rifle and 2 shotted the legendary non vats. I was playing on normal with 100 guns at lvl 22.

That thing was the easiest part of that cave I killed it in one shot with the Anti-Material Rifle, although I was LV 24 at the time with a 100 gun skill.

If you have trouble aim for the head and make sure you get that Sneak Critical on it. You could shoot the legs but that would be a waste of time as Deathclaws have such a large range when they swing their claws.

The unique BB gun does have crazy critical damage. With the critical hit chance maxed out at 28-33 percent it's possible with head shots.

Agreed the 70 damage crit is added to your standard dam which is only 4, but makes your bb gun the equivalent of a brush gun when you get a critical.

Me? i took them all on with my ranger sequoia SWCs and some turbo.

You can run with a full crit build with 10 luck and I still highly doubt you will string up enough criticals in a row to take down the legendary deathclaw without it taking your head off first.

Need the dice rolls in your favor and a 100 sneak character, but that gun can have up to a 64.5% chance to critical in VATS. First shot being a guaranteed sneak attack striping off around 400 points of health it's in the realm of possible.

Cleared out the whole cavern using Pushy and a [censored]load of sneaking, a lot of Benny Hill style chases trying to get back into hidden mode again as well.
And a lot of saves addmittedly.

Mine was on Normal with my Guns, Explosives, Energy Weapons skills in the 50-65 range. That's why it took the firepower of 2 C4, missiles, grenades and Boone with .308 AP ammo to get it done. It took many hits before his health bar went down. He was tough. We celebrated after we survived. :)

My God, the hardest creature to kill yet. I still can't kill him as I'm around level 22, and he still manages to one-hit KO me even with my armor on. I managed a sneak critical headshot and a couple headshots with my Gobi silenced before he ran up and swiped me into a wall.

Anyone else having trouble with this specific creature, without the use of the Anti-Material Rifle?

ok just wanna tell u that u have body parts for a reason, if u cant kill it by Headshot then try to cripple hes legs by shoting and mines works well for me but still i die when i meet the alpha male and i am lvl 16 xD + use the enviroment to climb in so they cant reach you :)

I killed him at level 9 with a sneak crit to the head and my TV wasn't even turned on.

Seriously though, what's the point in coming in here and saying "oh he was easy" with no contribution to the discussion?

Grats, your e-peen has grown one internet longer.

As for me: I didn't know this deathclaw existed until now. I'm going to go hunt him down when I get off work. Thanks for the Tips to those of you who did help out!

Veronica with Pushy; ED-E as a lol distraction; me with Riot shotgun and beanbags. Settings on Hard, no hardcoe he took a lot of shots to the face to finally put him down. My luck is 8 and my sneak skill is only 50 so I got to go face to face which I enjoy anyway. Guess I wouldn't enjoy it if I hit him in the head with a BB and knocked 400 points off his heath. Obviously my style of play isn't condusive to hardcoe either.

I did it in normal. But I think the strategy I used could be used on very hard mode as well. Lots of sneaking, lots of stealth boys and silenced weapons. Lots of saves.

All problems with killing Deathclaws come from lack of understanding of DT system and how weapon damage works in Fallout.

Want to win? Brush Gun or Ranger Sequoia + Cowboy. Ballistic Fist + Piercing Strike. Multiplas. Dinner Bell. Gauss. Bottlecap Mine. Many more.

Yup when your deathclaw hunting your better off wearing light armor so you move faster because when a deathclaw smacks you doesn't matter if your wearing Remnant Power armor or the naughty nightwear its gonna do the same damage :cryvaultboy:
