Well it's a bit off topic but yeah, I listen to Ensiferum before rugby and Bathory before iaido.

Nice! And pardon me, but what is iaido?

Can't wait until I deposit my paycheck so I can purchase some more Amon Amarth and Immolation albums.

"Iaido is the traditional Japanese martial art of drawing and cutting with the samurai sword. The purpose of Iaido is to develop awareness, centeredness, sincerity, a calm mind, and mental and physical harmony through the practice of traditional sword techniques. It is the Japanese martial art that is most closely associated with the samurai class and Japanese nobility. It is not considered a sport, but rather a unique and ancient traditional art for the development of mind, body, and spirit."

This is from the Canadian Iaido Association and pretty much sums it up. I started it recently but it's great! Still practicing with a friend who has rather extensive knowledge, but I plan to join my local dojo and make it official soon.

Back on topic; Amon Amarth FTW!!!

Sadist, I checked Face of Ruin out. Cool stuff, crappy related videos though for me. :P Anyways do you like Obscura or Beyond Creation as far as tech death goes?

That is awesome!

And yes, FTW indeed! I can't wait to fill up a hefty Amon Amarth discography.

Yes it is considered metal, they are a post black metal band I believe
Cool, it's just I'm really unfamiliar with anything metal.
I have the Roads to Judah LP from Deafheaven, but I can't really see myself picking anything else up from them.
Eh, I'd agree but I know nothing of this genre, and I'm starting to collect vinyls for when I grow old. :P
Edit: I said the same thing twice. :c

Obscura, no. As for Beyond Creation, I bought their album so time ago but I have yet to give it some genuine attention.

Funny, a different message board I used to post on had this exact thread title with essentially the same rules. You can't stop the metal! \m/

Anyway, I've been pretty out of the scene for the last few years (graduated from college, got a job, woman, etc.) but I've been re-discovering early Carcass lately and falling in love all over again. Images of mortuaries, dissections, autopsies, and cannabilism like no one else can bring them. Good, good stuff.

Never given any attention to Carcass myself. Figured, since everyone else have heard them, what's the point? Why not find something new?
Besides, the little I have heard wasn't very appealing.

Haha, not gonna check out the links though since the broadband speed or whatever the hell is incredibly sloooow at the moment. Point is, Carcass is much like Suffocation; a band playing a style that has been done to death by other bands, and in some cases, better than their source. That's not to say they aren't any good, just that they have been overwhelmed.

How would you even know that if you dont click the links? Im sorry but that statement comes off as extremely ignorant. Carcass never released the same album twice and pretty much single handedly invented several different subgenres.

It has nothing to do with Carcass "releasing the same album twice", it has something to do with what they did as a band, and how it has now been done by more and more bands, some which are better in my opinion, than the little of Carcass I have heard. And besides that, I simply have no interest in listening to Carcass. And if I feel like listening to something I haven't heard yet, I'd rather go for some entirely unknown band to me, than something I've touched upon a few occations that didn't have any appeal.

I've said it twice actually.

It's not about others trying to be identical in style, just that many takes huge portions of what Carcass does, and put their own spin on it, and sometimes, depending upon personal disposition, that appeals more than the source; Carcass.

Maybe, but ain't it a [censored] to realize that you've done the same mistake yourself? So don't toss "ignorant" at me.

Ooh, there's a band I need to rediscover too. I should buy Heartwork one of these days. I don't think anything will ever beat Symphonies of Sickness for me though...

On the subject of hipster metal, I'm getting paid this week and I want your advice on what to buy. I'm gonna get Unsilent Death by Nails and maybe stuff by Black Breath or Trap Them or something like that. Basically I want short angry albums I can listen to when I've had enough of Trash Talk or Slayer...

Yeah, Unsilent Death is a great 'album' (at 14 minutes of length). Their first release Obscene Humanity is just as good too (10 minutes long), so see if you can get that too, though you'd probably have to download it. Same with the Flith Rations E.P by Trap Them. Just as good as their albums (plus a sludge song!). Best full length is their newest, Darker Handcraft, at least in my opinion. You may also want to check out their singer's old band, Backstabbers Incorporated. Less metal than Trap Them, but still a great band.

Thing about these 'entombedcore' bands is their all pretty consistent, you can be pretty sure that what you're getting is going to be as good as their other stuff, though I do prefer All Pigs Must Die's EP to their album, probably because just over 30 minutes is too long an album for that kind of music, especially if you don't vary the tempo or add variation to the music like Trap Them do.

I see I see. I want to pick up Beyond Creation's album, but I just have other priorities first. Anyways, what about Gorod or Spawn of Possession? And I am not a crazy fan of the latter. But they are good tech death bands in my opinion.

Not a fan of either really. Though I do own Gorod's Process of a New Decline.
