The Skyrim Dead Is Dead Thread VII

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 5:57 am

Gaaah! I had to do a certain quest in order to advance another questline...ugh...it is logical but I didn't want to do that first one for RP reasons. Anyway...

I swear from now on I'll carry 3 swords with me! I only carry one sword/shield, again for RP, but now I had to fight a damn Draugr Overlord with my fists and shield. Yeah! Drive that snowbag to the ground!
He disarmed me the instant he came to his senses. Now, I had that happen before, BUT...I usually do a bit of running around and I find my weapon. Not now. The sword somehow clipped into the floor and I couldn't find it. At least I still had the shield.

Marcurio helped, I'm not saying he didn't...but at the middle of the fight he fell a bit lower and he was hitting a wall with his spells half the time. I tried to lure the Draugr in his range but he would back away and still end up hitting a wall...I don't know what was wrong with him. I usually take Marcurio because I like his AI the most. I like how he uses his spells. You won't see him hitting a Frost Troll with Lightning (even though that's his favorite spell), he immediately switches to fire.
Sometimes he's like a machine-gun, especially in ancient Nordic ruins when fighting a lot of Draugr. Bam! Turn Undead, Chain Lightning, Fireballs.
That man has all the right to be a bit arrogant. Ahem...
Quote from Marcurio:
Spoiler
"If these ruins frighten you, take comfort in the knowledge that I am here!"

I’m a Marcurio fan. He’s either awesome or somehow broken right when you need him. Certainly never boring.

So far Duralekh the orc has been enormous fun. He hasn’t used any of his found or bought healing potions yet, preferring to let his wounds heal naturally. He did use the starter healing spell once when death was nearly upon him. (Seven bandits plus a Chief. Luckily they fought out in the open, so he had room to move.) He loves to hunt by chasing down the elk and hacking them with his axes. Keeps the herd healthy. Most of them get away, but if one lets him draw blood he will chase it the whole way across the tundra rather than let it live.

He’s spending some time in Whiterun picking up contracts and hopefully some single women. Although his habit seems to be to go on a job, return victorious, get a room at the Bannered Mare, drink all of the ale and mead in his inventory, and then sleep for 24 hours. Not very social. Still, Adrianne and Ulfberth War-Bear are surprisingly fond of him. The last time he stopped in their shop, they simultaneously gifted him with… a hat.

It’s taken me a while to return to DiD after the tragedy of Brynja, but it's good to be back! Oh, and http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/h361/grits29/WhiteRiverWatch.jpg. He is now level 5.

New DID char:
Anglalos (thanks elder scrolls name generator)
Bosmer
Woodsman (Archery, Alchemy, sneak, light armor)

Never content with the hustle and bustle of city life, he preferred the peaceful silence of nature. Living off the land he became very proficient in tracking and hunting, as well as learning which herbs and plants were useful for survival, as well as those that would fetch a good price within the trading posts.

As the demand for good quality furs and pelts began to rise, so did his popularity with the trader's. To the point where people would throw bags of money at him just to go with him on his hunts. But it was not the money that drove him further into the wilds. Always looking for new challenges, to hunt what others had failed to hunt.

But soon he had hunted everything his woods could offer, from rabbits to bears, mountain lions to trolls. And there was no more challenge left to him. Then finally, on a trip back to his favored trading post, made famous by the number of high quality and rare pelts he provided them, he overheard a group of men, storm cloaks they called themselves, looking for a guide to get them through the border with the least amount of civilian travel. Knowing these woods like the back of his hand, he volunteered his service. The journey had gone without incident until one night while they made camp they were ambushed by a group of soldiers. Never one to care for the politics of humans, he tried to blend into the woods behind him. The battle raged in the woods, but alas, Anglalos was knocked unconsious from behind.

He awoke a while later on a cart with a handful of the men he was guiding through the wilderness. When they reached a city, he heard one of the men call it Helgen, they lined them up for the headsmans block. His thoughts raced. So many creatures and animals left to hunt, he thought, was this really the end? For he had never wronged anyone, never stolen or cheated anyone. But then, as his head lay on the block, and the executioner prepared his axe, a beast, both terrible and magnificent intervened and layed siege to the city and its inhabitants.

Escaping, he knew now why he was compelled to guide those men he knew nothing about, for this beast in its splendor would provide the challenge he had been craving his whole life...let the hunt begin...

Redguard
Level 9.

Enraged that he couldn't hit the last target while training with Angi, he killed her.
After feeling a terrible guilt, he threw himself off the mountain.

Duralekh gro-Bulsakh had a little misunderstanding with Ysolda. After he ran an errand for her, she made it clear that he was welcome in her house and in her bed. Nice. Then when he attempted to “borrow” a key after she fell asleep, the silly wench screamed bloody murder.

Big D went outside to clear things up with the authorities and found Uthgerd (who was waiting patiently in the market square) preparing to go to war with the entire Whiterun Guard on his behalf. A hasty sack of gold later all was calm again. The two of them hauled tail out to the volcanic tundra where he accepted the blessing of the Atronach stone. Now they’re questing in the Rift. Level 8.

Uthgerd may be a little hard to look at, but her loyalty can’t be improved upon. Also she can really take a punch. Ysolda may be easy, but… well, that’s really her best feature. And at least she doesn’t remind him of his sisters.

Next Character:
Shirzad Ibn Omar

Roml will be missed. His is with the fallen.

Great stuff and the fonts are fitting. I know what you mean about the settings. I have backed off as well. Good luck with the new Redgard.

I don't get the suicide things. There are a lot of those. I just retire them. But still, I guess that is one way of doing it. Good luck with your next character.

What happened to Swims-With-Gators? Anyway, best of luck with the new Bosmer guy.

Swims was killed when I fired an arrow at a deer, the deer tucked right and the arrow instead hit that witch lady that lives across the river from the standing stones. I didnt even know I hit her till I was on fire.

After escaping Helgen, the human Ralof suggested Anglalos join their war effort. But his interest lied not in the petty squables of the humans, particularly those of the Nords, who, to the elves, were most famous for their racism. But he knew he would need gold in order to prepare for a hunt of this magnitude, and so set off to Whiterun, to return the favor to the people of Riverwood for taking him in. When he arrived at Whiterun he was set on an errand for the court wizard, in return he expected any information they had on the dragon he hunted. Upon returning, he was given much more than information, but a location! He set off with the Jarl's houscarl and a cohort of the city guard. When they arrived, the scene was grim, but there was a survivor who informed us that the dragon hadnt left yet.

And the battle began, the monstrous creature who had destroyed this tower was not the dragon in which he seeked, but he might not get another chance if the creature had its way. After a short battle there were only two survivors, the Jarl's housecarl, and Anglalos. The dragon lie dead, pulled from the sky by a well placed arrow, and finished on the ground. When he came near, to study the corpse, it burned away and filled him with a strange sort of energy. He collected what scales were left, and returned to the castle, where he was pointed in the direction of the grey-beards. On his way out of the city, he was warned there may be wolves on the road. Good, he thought, for this nord air was much colder than he thought, and could use the pelts.

After travelling for several hours, Anglalos became aware that he was being tracked. For two days he played cat and mouse with a very large sabrecat. Once he was sure he had lost it he decided to take a rest at a small mining camp, Darkwater Crossing, before he would continue his journey. Once back on the road he spotted a fox retreating into the woods, knowing that its pelt would catch a fine price he decided to follow. He only got a few meters into the woods before he was ambushed by three bandit chiefs.

Knowing he was out matched, he decided a tactical retreat was in order. And they gave chase, keeping up with him as though their heavy armor weighed nothing at all. He was able to gain some distance in his retreat though, enough to turn and fire a few shots once he reached the bridge he crossed the day before while eluding the sabrecat. Once they caught up to the bridge he turned to retreat, but at the other end of the bridge was an argonian dressed in red and black leather, with his bow drawn and aimed at him. There was no doubt in his mind that this was a shadowscale.

The assassin loosed his first shot, and Anglalos took the arrow to the knee....sensing his adventuring days might soon be over, he dove off the side of the bridge and floated enough to get back onto land. Where he came face to face with his old friend, the Sabre Cat.

While the assassin fought the two bandit chiefs not a hundred yards away, the Sabre cat sized up its dinner, delivered to him at last. Anglalos always hated fredas' it this fredas was the worst yet, not desiring his death to be that of something elses dinner, he did what any self respecting bosmer would do, and made a pact with the large cat, and led him to a veritable smorgasbord of orc, lizard, and nord meat. Certainly more enticing than one wood elf.

As the fight raged on Anglalos fired arrows into the tougher enemies while his new partner tore at the group, and finally the chiefs were deceased, but the assassin finished the cat, at which point he was struck from the side by an arrow, dropping to one knee. Anglalos didnt give a second thought about the irony, as he walked up behind the would-be assassin with a newly recovered orc dagger and slit his throat. Anglalos hates fredas, but at least he got a story out of this one...

Not at all. That's what this thread is for. To share your experience, in as much detail as you like.

However, I would just edit the previous post if no one has posted behind you. That way it doesn't look like you are double posting.

Still, great stuff. I am glad to hear you are excited. We are excited for you.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I finally got back to advancing ValKyn, after tweaking the player house mod to be a very red and Oblivion looking. I also gave it a female Dremora follower. This is MyKyn.
http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/559815567249296294/228266F3B65F151A8879AB1E39809234ED235E86/ She levels with the player and has a Lightnibg spell and a Healing spell.

She is proficient in 2H and Heavy Armor, but her default is Black Robes and a stamina enchanted Orcish dagger. That way she isn't starting with uber gear and she will pretty much wear and wield anything I give her. Although the Ultimate Follower Mod allows you to change that stuff and level them with you anyway. Still. she is mine...uh,um...MyKyn.

I will don her equipment we find and or craft. But first we set out to complete the next leg for Azura's quest. This is the subject matter of the spoilers.
Spoiler
Knowing this was always a painful experience at ANY level, I / ValKyn / we were prepared. The first skeleton we met was carrying a Honed Ancient Nordic Greatsword. MyKyn had her weapon. One ingot and a grinding wheel, and we had the same weapon.

We dispatched the first set of Necros with relative ease. By the time we reached the pre-Boss She had a lt armor cuirass and heavy boots.

She starts firing off lightning bolts and ValKyn summons a Flaming Bikini. This created a distraction and ValKyn crossed the flooded area untouched and dropped the bridge. When he done that, the Grandmaster Funky Necro turned his attention on ValKyn. Being at close to 200 HPs. He could take more than one spike.

ValKyn had popped a frost potion before getting close and so he was able to take two shots...*wipes face* He backs up into the adjacent hallway and the Necro backs up across the bridge. Bad move and sux to be him. The Flaming Bikini got off two solid hits before vanishing and MyKyn started laying into him with that Greatsword.

It was now or never. He needed to be shut down before he could start healing. I hve the enemy health bars turned off, so I am running on sheer gut feelings. ValKyn runs out as thew Necro is backpedaling across the bridge again. Now we have him in a Dremora Sandwich. Two power attacks and it was over.

The chest yielded a pair of heavy boots w/frost enchant and a Steel Helm. The old girl is getting there, slowly. The rest of the place was easy. I find that guy to be harder than the end Boss.

We have what we came for. Now it back to Winterhold, but not before trading loot in Riverwood and going through BFB. MyKyn should be geared up well after that. THEN it's off to Winterhold.

EDIT : Oh, I forgot. He used a High Elf, he captured / killed / looted and a Daedra Heart, that is so rarely sold at the Sleeping Giant, along with a creepy Daedric ritual, to create this follower. So, that way I don't feel as cheap by having her in the game. :whistling:

Hey Tank, glad you like the experience! I personally love to read about others' adventures and their backstory, so it's not too much! Just one teeny tiny thing. Please try to keep quest details in spoiler tags so that no one can say "hey, you spoiled that for me!" and so we can keep this in General. Tell us what the quest you're going on is, then put the journey in tags. Don't worry, if we did that quest we will read your experience. Hope my friendly advice won't upset you.

@Se?or Cinco, you make all your battles awesome by how you describe them! I love how you RP MyKyn into your game! On another note....oh Gods, oh Gods....I am so freaking tempted to start another character, not that I don't love Malik, but the "Live another Life" coupled with some really awesome Spells mods I found really tempt me into starting an Altmer Necromancer/Conjurer...must...resist...the...urge... :turned:

^^ Sure, no problem. You probably know them already. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=5898 and http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=16225
Haven't tested them yet, I'm reading on them to see if there are any conflicts with the mods that I currently have. I also want to see if they are balanced (in my view, of course), because if they are too OP it would be useless playing a DiD character with them.

I have seen a couple of vids on both of those. They look pretty damn awesome.
I am currently running the Monster Mod Conjuration V4.http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=15011 It has some fantastic conjured creatures, but few Daedra. It has a lot of animals for a forest type Conjurer, and a lot of undead for a Necro type. But the Daedra are rather slim pickens.

lorelai, if you get the urge to start a new... no same in that. Just put the ole boy on hold. I have done that several times. The problem, for me...well it's not really a "problem" because I am enjoying myself, is I never go back and pick them up.

Wow, I love coming back and finding such adventures to read!

Duralekh gro-Bulsakh is back in Whiterun. He had a quiet afternoon and a mildly confusing night. Here’s how it went. I put it in spoiler tags to prevent undue scrolling.

Spoiler
Gro-Bulsakh and Uthgerd parted ways as soon as they passed through the gate, as is their habit. The orc had some ore and hides to deal with, and the Nord had to catch up on her sitting and drinking. The Bulsakh learned some more about Uthgerd on this trip. She definitely has an anger management issue. But he is not one to judge. He had considered taking the Companions up on their offer, but if they won’t have Uthgerd then he won’t be a brother to them.

Evening fell with its usual breathtaking splendor. This might have been a good time to go for a walk around the market with Ysolda and perhaps join her for drinks and a meal at the Bannered Mare. Or at least bathe after all of those hours at the forge. Instead he went to Uthgerd’s for some mead and a four hour nap. There is a lot that Big D does not know about human ways.

When he woke up he guessed that Ysolda was probably home from the Bannered Mare, so he headed over to break into her house, in a friendly way of course. She was home, still awake, and happy to see him. He hopped into her bed for an hour, score. Then when he got up she said, and I still can’t believe this, “Goodbye. And if you happen to see Mikael, tell him I was asking about him.” She promptly went to sleep.

Mikael? The bard?! What the… Duralekh was not pleased with that comment. Why was Ysolda thinking about some skinny Nord? Perhaps she didn’t like the flowers he brought for her (nightshade). Or maybe she didn’t like his other present, the large antlers from an elk he slaughtered out on the tundra. After all, he did knock over some of her silly pots while trying to place them on a shelf. Or maybe she was trying to make him jealous, since he was still wearing the silver and emerald necklace given to him by sweet Sylgja of Shor’s Stone. Now there was a woman. Even with a gimp leg, she could really crack the rock.

Anyway he still had some things to do before he went over to the tavern to give Mikael a beating. First he had to cook some soup and move the rest of his junk into Ysolda’s house. Chores completed, he made two more attempts to snag her key. No and no. Fifty more coins to the guards. Third time he got it. Then she woke up pissed and asked him to leave. Crazy wench. So he went back to crash at Uthgerd’s house until nearly noon. This man loves to sleep.

Duralekh has reached level 10. His plans for after he brawls with Mikael include searching through a dangerous barrow to impress a woman and searching through a dangerous Dwarven ruin to impress a woman. His armor rating is 99, so I’m quite worried about what I know waits at the end for him. It’s been ten hours of delight with this guy. I don’t want to lose him.

@Se?or Cinco, some of the creatures from that mod seem really cool. However, I read that it requires the main MonsterMod...I really respect ALL the modders, regardless of the content they make, I know it's a hell of a work, but SkyMoMod is a bit to lore-unfriendly for me...If I could get the spells but not the additions of monsters it would be really cool!

Tank, highlight your text that you want to put in a spoiler tag, then look in the upper left part of the reply window. There are 3 icons, you want to click the third one (when you hover the mouse over it it says "Special BBCode"). From the drop down menu choose "Spoiler" That's it!

Alternatively, you can write like so (without the spaces in the brackets)

Ok, Senor Cinco, gonna throw my hat in. I'm looking for a challenge so D.I.D. should do it. Gonna do a Vampire character on master.

Name: Edward Volkihar
Race: Breton
six: Male

Skills: Conjuration, one-handed, alteration, sneak, (and restoration for the necromage perk)

Story: Volkihar, like his name suggests is originally from Skyrim's Volkihar vampire clan. He lost consciousness for some time for some unknown reason and then found himself regaining consciousness on a pile of dirt with nothing but a pair of ragged pants, his vampiric powers gone, and being kicked around and arrested by some Imperial troops. Normally he could have taken out several platoons of these troops at full strength, but with his vampiric powers gone he is in a desperate quest to get it back before being discovered by his clan.

I'm running the "vampire upgrade" mod, so vampires will be my ally if I am a vampire which helps with the RP story. The mod isn't op, all it does is give you a speed bonus and makes vampiric drain and vampire's servant a little more powerful. I'll be using daggers from my dread knight weapon set mod. Not doing any smithing or enchanting so this should be a good challenge. Edwards clothes are gonna consist of the ragged pants outfit and a pair of boots.

Wish me luck, I'll post screenshots later.
