The Skyrim Dead Is Dead Thread VII

he headed over to break into her house, in a friendly way of course.

“Goodbye. And if you happen to see Mikael, tell him I was asking about him.” She promptly went to sleep.
Perhaps she didn’t like the flowers he brought for her (nightshade).

Sylgja of Shor’s Stone. Now there was a woman. Even with a gimp leg, she could really crack the rock.

Third time he got it. Then she woke up pissed and asked him to leave. Crazy wench.

This man loves to sleep.
Big D'd last name reminds me of "grow a pair" and a reference to...mountain oysters.

I love it all, but these were the parts that done it for me. The "nightshade" put me in tears.

It’s been ten hours of delight with this guy. I don’t want to lose him.
I don't want you to either. Great job Grits.

If I could get the spells but not the additions of monsters it would be really cool!
There is a "more" lorelike friendlier plug-in for the plug-in. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=16411

It requires the original file, so the combination of the three may work. However this set up does alter leveled list, so it may conflict with others that do.

PS. And thank your for the kind comments. I love your adventures. I look forward to the current continuation or the fresh beginnings of an epic new.

May he rest in peace. Lvl 12.
May he RIP. He is with the fallen.

Ok, Senor Cinco, gonna throw my hat in. I'm looking for a challenge so D.I.D. should do it. Gonna do a Vampire character on master.
All right! PD, is here! It feels like the old FONV times.

Good luck with the Vamp char. I love playing those guys / gals. I play them Stage 4 - 24/7. It really makes it interesting. I have been looking at the Vamp mods. I can't wait to see how you fair.

Again, it's great to have you on board and best of luck to you.

PS : Love the screenies. So post them at your will.

New char:
Ghraken Golgag
Orc Warrior (Two handed, heavy armor, block, alchemy)
(P.S. tried very unsuccessfully to make him look like the troll off of DoTA)

Ghraken had grown up in an orc stronghold. He had a twin brother, Gakken, whom he sparred with constantly, honing their combat skills together. One day, he had had enough of his father, the chieftan, for he had grown fat and lazy, and so challenged him for the right of control of the stronghold.

But the chieftan was not weak, and attacked with the prowess of malacath himself. The battle waged for hours, but in the end it was Ghraken who lay broken and defeated. And as he lay there, watching the chief raise his axe for the killing blow, a waraxe thrown from somewhere behind him planted itself firmly in the chieftans skull, and he fell, dead. picking himself of the ground, he staggered over to the commotion behind him. For it was his brother, Gakken, who had thrown the axe that saved his life. It was a grave dishonor to interfere in a challenge for leadership, and so his brother was put to death on the spot, and Ghraken was banished from the stronghold.

Broken and dishonored, but still alive...

Arriving at whiterun, short of coin and provisions, he decided to do what any self respecting orc would do and ply his skills at blacksmithing to earn a few coins for dinner, and some mead of course. So impressed was Eorland Gery-Mane he gave him a hefty bag of gold, as well as a steel battleaxe, forged by the master smith himself. He went to the tavern, for food and drink, and information. He had been pondering it for some time, and decided to inquire where the nearest shrine of Malacath was located, for even an orc sometimes needs to pray for guidance.

After learning the location of the shrine, he set out the next morning. Seeing a destroyed cart, he decided to see if there was anything left worth scavenging. Instead he found himself surrounded outside of a skooma den with seven bandits and a coward sorcerer. Luckily, one of the many things he learned as a child about certain plants, he used a particular mixure to neuter the mages abilities, first, then dispatched the rest of the bandits quite expertly. Then as he searched the den, he found the mage hiding amongst the crates of stolen goods. The argonian pleaded for his life, but Ghraken knew that if he let him live he would continue to plague the innocents and traders, or more interestingly, come after him when he regained his strength. Combined with those thoughts, and the fact he hadnt cleaned his axe off yet, he slew the coward and took his staff. He frowned upon magic users and their trickery, but this staff should be worth something to somebody...

Shortly there after, he noticed a man in black leather armor charging him from across a large open field with weapons drawn. Figuring he had about thirty seconds or so before the weakling reached him, and figuring that sprinting towards him for two to three hundred meter would leave the man in less than peak fighting conditions, he drew his axe and waited. And continued to wait. And when the small bosmer finally reached him he wrapped him up and head butt him to death. Searching the twitching body he discovered a note. Someone had paid this poor fool to kill him, but who? He had only spoken to a handful of people since he arrived in skyrim, so the process of narrowing down who couldve done it would be a short task, but it would have to wait....

An update on Necrarch. Now level 4. Primary spells, Frostbite, fury, animate and blood vision.

Necrach arrived in the Whiterun Hold area in the dead of night. It took a few hours for him to find a suitable place to shelter during the day, but his chosen site was hard to reach and well hidden. An old abandoned silvermine called Beggers Tomb. He then pressed on to his destination, the Ritual Stone.

When he arrived Necrarch happened upon a dark elf novice necromancer. Sensing Necrarch's knowledge and power of the dark arts the foolish mortal suggested an temporary alliance. Necrarch agreed, and the follwoing night they decided to attack Embershard Mine. They killed or drove off the inhabitants and looted the place. After selling most of the goods at the Riverwood Trader, the mortal suggested they loot all the mines in the surrounding area, which would net much coin. Necrarch decided to humour the dark elf and agreed, pointing out however that it would soon be dawn and so he would need to retreat to his resting place. Necrarch had considered the dangers of revealing his secret hide. Beggers Tomb was hidden amongst the waterfalls just north of Honningbrew Meadery, but the dark elf was greedy and the prospect of coin should ensure his loyalty. Plus he would stand guard over the entrance of Necrarch's hide during the daylight hours. Let the mortal think they were equals. When the necromancers usefulness was at an end Necrarch would take care of him and the dark elf would spend the rest of his existance as a animated Thrall.

Thus would be the fate of all the living in Necrarch's dark and twisted mind.........

ValKyn (and MyKyn) made it back to Winterhold. The following contains content on the Azura quest.
Spoiler
Entering the Inn, they confronted the Mage to see what he had in mind for the star. ValKyn was interested in the possibility of taking the star for himself, for now, and presenting Lord Dagon with a unique artifact that was capable of harvesting human souls.

ValKyn entered the star...

He was met by the human soul of Malyn Varen that caused this altered state of the star. Realizing that this wad no ordinary soul that has entered his world. Malyn dashed out of sight and ValKyn was confronted by several Markynaz. These powerful spirit mages were known to ValKyn and he was recognized by them.

VALKYN : I do not wish to take arms against my brethren. This one of Malyn is what I seek.

The Markynaz spoke in unison, as if they were one voice.

MARKYNAZ : You are mortal. You are no longer Kyn. You are of no brothren.

VALKYN : Ptrince and power!... Kyn and Valkyn!...You will join my trophies!

Now it gets nasty in a hurry...These guys have always been a nightmare with those damn fireballs. You get all three on you and it like being inside of an incinerator. I can't imagine anyone playing in 1stP when behind a wall of flames. That is all that is on the screen.

ValKyn backs up as far as he can and positions himself behind a crystal. Trying to draw them in one at a time. Here comes the first Mark...but not before he is hit with a massive shot of lightning, from his left flank, that takes him down to about 60% HPs. It was Mlayn and that damn staff, shooting from below. This was a first.

ValKyn strikes into the first Mark through the wall of flames. Here is where being 75% resistant to fire is really handy. The Mark throws up a ward spell, but ValKyn has no intention of using magic. He quickly rips the flesh of the Mark, through the cloth robes.

He begins to work on the second one, just as he receives another shot from a lightning bolt. Malyn has come back up the pathway. The next few seconds are a blur. ValKyn slams a few H-pots and the only Shock res pot he had. He cornered the second Mark and landed a series of strikes, followed by two power attacks. That was the end of him.

He is being pelted by that damn staff. He heals with another round of potions and slams an S-pot. Malyn has backed himself into a corner. I have no idea where the last Mark is. ValKyn connects with what seemed like 20 strikes. ( By the EIGHT!...How much health does this guy have?) Half way through that series we had to take, what is almost the last of, the H-pots. If Malyn makes it out of this corner, we may not have enough to get this close again.

With 25% Hps left, ValKyn initiates a power attack...he misses. The slippery mage dodges it, just. He cannot let him get by. It will take almost 5sec for him to be able to swing another PA. In that time he lands two more blows through a ward. I like to see the wards from these guys, or ANY mage for that matter, when playing with a melee character.

ValKyn goes into a power attack and the game switches into a cut scene, just as ValKyn screens "To Oblivion with you!" (One of the best things about this mod is the characters use the sound file of the in-game Dremora's. No matter how they look, they are always covered in armor, but the vocals remind you of who you are.) This timing was spot on.

Now that Malyn had been dealt with, the last Mark was still out there. Unless they were summoned and they vanish when Malyn falls. I always must confront them first anyway. But ValKyn is returned to the mortal world before we could find out for sure.

Getting back to the house/ Dremora estate/ headquarters. We pondered our next move. Hmmm. Where to go from here? I know where there are a few more Daedric quests, but ValKyn doesn't know that. I need to give him reason to go there.

He studies the map given to him by the fallen adventurer's husband. Falkreath is a small hold, very close and just to the south of their Dremora Mansion. Maybe there's talk in the Inn can shed some clues on another potential quest.

Along the way we were confronted by various creatutes. It was pitch black, and even with MyKyn carrying the torch, it is pretty spooky in that part of the world. They proved to be no match what so ever. MyKyn is starting to really take favor of that Lightning spell. She pretty much is using that exclusively, the switching to the Supple Nordic Bow and then to her Greatsword, when the ranges dictate it. Great AI indeed.

ValKyn has started to take favor of this God of Death (and life) Arkay. At least he is enjoying the benefits of the tribute to the shrines. They find one.

VALKYN : Go ahead. Approach the mortal God's alter.

MYKYN : I am now Kyn. I will not show honor to this....what ever it is.

VALKYN : You are not Kyn! You are not even Churl! Not fully, anyway.

MYKYN : And neither are you!

VALKYN : My current state is but temporary, while you are nothing more than an abomination. An abomination that I created. I suggest you not forget that...

MYKYN : Very well...my Lord. What exactly do you wish of me.

VALKYN : Approach and...rub it a little.

MYKYN : As my Lord commands.

MyKyn activates the statue and to my surprise, IT WORKED! I checked her current stats in the menu supplied by the Ultimate Followers Mod and she had the extra HPs. Great! I never knew that could happen.

Later we picked up on another quest involving Barbus. I dread this stupid thing. I downloaded a mod that pushes him back, just so I could go through with this.

We are now at Solitude, with the gang in tow. Best yet old Barbus is puling the Caboose of the Dremora Train. We will rest here, dump some gathered loot we accumulated from several Bandit encounters along the long haul to get here and nose around a bit.

We must venture into known Forsworn territory. ValKyn is now level 11, but an increase in 2H and his AR, plus a new perk or two would be nice.

Berava has finally gotten her gear in order at level 43 (and dropped an ungodly amount of money on training sessions), and is partway through the Companions arc, although that's currently on hold as she prepares to invade Bleak Falls Barrow to retrieve Lucan Varelius' heirloom. The fight at the end of Dustman's Cairn proved a bit easier than expected, despite Farkas' stupidity, as the Draugr never took advantage of their superior numbers.

Capped armor is proving vital, since fights are longer than usual and the Absorb Health spell only goes so far. I might need to increase its magnitude, but I'll wait until after I see how it performs with Destruction perks backing it before deciding. I chose to use Fortify Health enchantments, which has turned out to be wise as it gives both more padding and a higher regeneration rate. Capped magic resistance as well, so she should at least have a chance against dragons. Which due to her level will mostly be Ancients, so should put up a good fight.

Will check it out! No worries about leveled list, I'll use Wrye to sort that. I'm more concerned if it alters factions as I have a mod for horses (Convenient Horses) that does that...

New char: Ghraken Golgag Orc Warrior
Good luck with your new character!

VALKYN : Go ahead. Approach the mortal God's alter.
MYKYN : I am now Kyn. I will not show honor to this....what ever it is.
VALKYN : You are not Kyn! You are not even Churl! Not fully, anyway.

Daaww! Poor MyKyn! In any case, the highlighted part really made my day! I'm still giggling!

************

I'm really tempted to start that Conjurer....I'm planning on putting my main character into retirement anyway, as after completing a questline really left me with a sour taste and I just can't play her anymore...That's it, consumed with guilt, she took her sorrow with her and left for the deepest forest to be among the trees she loves (she's a Bosmer) and no one heard from her again.
****
I'll have to think up a story for the Conjurer/Necro though...also a purpose. I can't just plop her into the world.
I'm also thinking about the apparel. I always go with cloth only for mages, but this again? The alteration armors are pathetic. Maybe I'll try some armor this time...but it somehow feels wrong to put armor on a Necro/Conjurer.

*****
Regarding armor/armor caps/smithing - for those that really need it (I know playing on Master kinda requires good smithing/armor caps) I have a hint for you all (if you didn't know already, lol)
Arthmoor made a Smelting mod! Yaaay! It works perfectly! I didn't install any smelting mods until now and when I saw this from Arthmoor I was so happy! It even gives you smithing increase from smelting/tanning (and he's right, you should get an increase from those! I mean - I skin the animal, turn the pelt into leather, and I learn nothing in the process?). You can also craft arrows!

It's a great mod! Check it out http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=16084

Ha! I almost edited that line, but I decided to leave it in. You kind of have to put the Dremora Lord voice behind ValKyn and I gave MyKyn the Dark Elf voice of Jenassa. She is more or less a permanent Dead Thrall type of follower character. The ritual he performs uses some kind of spiritual essence from him as well.

I guess, on one hand it could be like an Adam and Eve thing, yet on another...she could be like a sister. Then again, she could just be a freaky being that is neither human nor Kyn. I am toying with some ides about her part in all of this. There are a ton of directions this could go, that is IF they survive.

She want's very much to be like him, or what he is, in the planes of Oblivion. As long as they remain in this world they will never be true Kyn.

I have got to adjust her scaling in the CK. She is not leveling with the player. It doesn't even work with the mod's menu. Should just be a matter of checking or unchecking a box.

I am excited for you and your new character. I hope to hear all about him/her soon. I have a hard time finding a character fitting attire for my mage/Vamp/Necro type characters. We need some good clothing mods. They are all this skimpy reveling mes. They are created by very talented modders. It's just not the right thing. I will be looking into the bikini mail armors for my next Red Sonja type character, but they just don't fit the others.

EDIT : I will be looking at the smitghing mod, for sure. I use a standalone crafting mod for arrows. It is hard to keep archer followers in arrows after that one patch. When they run out of arrows, they just start using a damn dagger all the time. I can't keep them stocked, unless I make them a 100 at a time.

Oh man! I just have to share this!!

I installed Mighty Dragons at last (I choose the Slightly version because I play on Expert/Master so their attacks are already multiplied, and I don't get them with too much health in order for it to be a pain on those difficulties) .
So, I went inside the Dragon Bridge tavern to sleep for 3 days to get the Dragons to respawn.
When I went outside there was one of the Dragons waiting for me (well, for Malik...he's level 30 by now, whooohoo!). This one that I met has Poison spit shout and Paralyze among other things. (I choose Paralyze over Disarm shouts because those damn Disarm Draugr are already driving me crazy!)

Oh boy, here we go.
Everything turned into a huge epic fight with Malik, Marcurio, all the guards in Dragon Bridge, the Stormcloaks from the nearby camp, a bear and a few patrolling random event Imperials. Aaaand of course, the townsfolk, because they just can't stay away from a good fistfight with a Dragon!
I had to make the usual townsfolk essential through a bat file until I find a "run inside" mod that's bug free. If I don't do this all die from one Dragon breath and Skyrim would be a very empty place...I also don't plan on going on killing sprees (never had that urge) so them being essential doesn't brake my "immersion".

Anyway. The fight was really tough. It helped that Malik has poison resistance though! But man, when that Dragon landed, it sure packed a punch! I had to really time my hits, my blocks. I'm really glad I upped my smithing and alchemy, otherwise I would have been dead really quick!

All in all, it was a truly epic fight, just like I wanted from Dragon encounters! It was amazing and truly satisfying! Can't wait to see the other Dragons!

Ha! I almost edited that line, but I decided to leave it in.

I’m so glad you left it in. I was reading with the dremora voice in my head, so that line was hilarious. Nice to know that MyKyn sounds like Jenassa.

Big D’s surname is indeed a mountain oyster reference. I was giggling like a fiend during character creation. My first orc ever. Maybe the next one will get a serious name.

The Bulsakh had time for a short adventure this morning, but it’s his personal life that continues to exceed my expectations for entertainment.

The last time he had a run-in with the law, they must have taken his key to Ysolda’s house. He discovered this when he smacked his face against her locked door upon returning from Redoran’s Retreat. No problem, he just let himself in the old-fashioned way. She wasn’t home, so he stretched out on the bed for a nap.

Fourteen hours later she still wasn’t home. He met her coming out of the Bannered Mare at seven of the morning watch. She didn’t have much to say about it. That’s when he remembered his unfinished business with Mikael.

Now, beating up a bard may not be pleasing to Malacath, but the Bulsakh expected it to at least be enjoyable. No such luck. Mikael backed down faster than a Nord chasing a mead wagon. Fetching kitten.

There was nothing left to do but round up Uthgerd and head out to Bleak Falls Barrow. After he got all of his stuff from Ysolda’s house and stashed it back at Uthgerd’s, of course. Except he may have left some dog meat in Ysolda’s bedside table. Oh well, she’ll find it eventually.

All in all, it was a truly epic fight, just like I wanted from Dragon encounters! It was amazing and truly satisfying! Can't wait to see the other Dragons!
I love it. Be careful. Those Dragons at that level are nasty, for sure. Then again, if you are really set on starting a new Conjurer character, then at least Malik will go out with honor. My conjurer done one of two hings...Run for cover or just run.

That Dragon mod is the better of the ones I looked at. They are truly epic and it doesn't change the amount. It just makes the ones there more...um, more. There are some great looking ones too. I will go with the lesser versions for my melee only characters but the truly badass ones are the only ones for my Conjurers. I want them to be absolutely terrified when my controller rumbles.

The town folk don't do that much damage, if any, so I agree that making them essential is....well, essential. They are a distraction, but a good "Everybody Inside" mod would be very nice , indeed.

Everyone has that occasional problem with hired thugs right? I may have run into a glitch, this is the third time that a particular individual has sent goons after me. Being as how I'm RP'ing an orc, and orcs don't steal, (it goes against their code of honor)so I find it interesting.

Spoiler
The person in question is Moira, a Hagraven, who you would've met if for
whatever reason you took the long route in getting the Sanguine Rose, she's the
woman you marry in a drunken stupor. Now I havent even came across the drinking
contest guy yet, so I havent even started the quest yet. Anyone else have
similar encounters?

These DID are getting more and more interesting.

I have had a couple of those thugs after my characters before, when they have NEVER stolen a thing. This has not happened in quite some time. I would say that it is a glitch. I just kill them an thank the "Glitch Gods" for the loot. This was usually early game and the steel weapons and armor sets came in handy.

WOW!!!!! Thanks Senor Cinco - I am amazed theres so much support for proper DiD gameplay. I used to play Oblivion this way and on my next run through of Skyrim i'll try to keep my char alive as long as poss. All my mates think i am totally mad for logging up insane player hours only to have to abandon it all and re-start. However, as all DiD advocates know it really adds to the danger, thrill and combat excitement knowing all your invested time and effort hangs in the balance - darn annoying though when you get taken out by a simple trap or unplanned fall, eh!

When I play DiD, along with the not re-loading on death rule, I stick to every outcome that unfolds before me, so if a cherished or needed npc gets killed, even if not my doing, I run with the developing story - afterall you'd have to in real life wouldn't you. Thats really role playing i feel.

Hope this thread continues and when i've finished my non-DiD run through in a month or so, i'm gonna try DiD properly. Cheers, Rick......

Hey Rick! You are very welcome. I too feel that what happens...happens. That to me, is the main part of an RPG. Living with the consequences.

Glad you are joining the ride and we await your character.

EDIT : Why wait? Just put that guy on hold and get after it! I played my first character DID out of the gate. Not knowing what is ahead just adds to the excitement. :shocking:

-------------------------------------------------------------------

There is at least one quest or hint to a quest starter for Daedric artifacts in every hold. I think that is common knowledge. However, the details of these quests and what they are should remain a surprise for those that have not yet found them. The following is for one of those quests in Solitude.

Spoiler
The gang w/ mutt in tow was stumbling through the town. They happened upon a poor beggar.

BEGGAR : Spare a coin for a poor beggar, my Lord?

VALKYN : Begone, feetlekyn!...Wait! I know you...Come closer churl.

BEGGAR : Yes, my Lord. Oh! You are...

VALKYN : Careful of the next words you choose, nithling. My identity is nameless. My presence is desolate.

DERVENIN : I am the servant to the Master Sheo...

VALKYN : I said, I know who you are! Why are you here?

Dervenin told the Dremora about the prolonged, and stale, state of the Prince of Madness. He gave the Dremora the pelvis bone of Pelagius and directed him to the sealed wing of the Blue Palace. The Dremora entered the Palace and started to have a look around.

Locating the wing, he faced a locked door that could only be opened with a key. A key he needs to find. He starts asking the guards and the immediate help, to no avail. He searches the main suite...nothing. He locates an Enchanters table in the mage's quarters and disenchants some gear he had been packing around for way too long. The knowledge is far more valuable and weighs nothing.

He reluctantly approaches the Jarl's steward and asks about entry to the wing. He was abruptly denied. He knows now that he must win favor to obtain the key from this avenue. A task he has no interest in undertaking, unless as a last resort. That and risk going against the entire hold. He needed another option.

This, I had no idea you could do. So it was something new, thus tags in tags...
Spoiler
After questioning other members of the staff. He came across a young maid, sitting in a dark corner. Asking her about the wing, she freely gave forth information about cleaning it on a regular basis, she asked if he was there to help. Well, OF COURSE HE WAS! What did she think? That he was some sort of demon cast out of Oblivion, bidding for entry?...pffftt!...I mean really.

They enter the wing. And before long ValKyn is swept into another world. He stands before The Prince of Madness himself, Sheogorath. ValKyn is stripped of all his weapons and gear. Donning fancy mortal clothes, he approaches the mad one.

SHEO : Well, well....What have we here? A visitor! Have a seat. Have some cheese! Have some beef. Have the cow! Have a...good mind to ask that tailor to take in me shorts....

VALKYN : I am he...

SHEO : No wait! I know you...You're one of those thingy persons from Dagons group. The sandwich guys? Am I right!? OF COURSE I AM!! I'll have the Feldew on Weat...No, I changed my mind! Ha!Ha! I'l just take a hair cut. No! wait...

VALKYN : *exhales*

*Fades to black*
-Three days later-
*Fades in*

SHEO : Just surprise me with something blue...and take my lucky Giant's toe for your troubles...Just don't rub it! You have been warned!

VALKYN : This is not one of your realms.

SHEO : No. It's the mind of Pelagius! Yes, I know. I thought it was the other end at first, as well. With all of THAT lying around, and some folks have it instead of brains. YOU SEE THE CONFUSION!?

VALKYN : What do we...um, I need to do?

ValKyn jumps through the hoops for the mad one and satisfies the unrest that Sheogorath has uncovered in this place. ValKyn is sent back to the mortal world with the Wabbajack.

This was one of the easier ones I found. The rest (well the ones I have done) involved tuff enemies, but this was just a puzzle.

We now set out for the original destination, that brought us here to start with.

As it turns out Mirmulnir wasn't much of a problem, which I was not expecting given Berava's relatively high level. On the other hand, attempting to fight a dragon with no ranged attack of any consequence is proving to be a right pain, and Riverwood is currently under siege (3 attacks in as many visits). Just sold off another lot of stuff, and am preparing to retrieve a certain object for a bunch of shut-ins.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

While this style has proved to be playable on Master, it has the issue of being somewhat dependent on luck in which Shouts you find when, as some of them don't really contribute much. While I'm taking advantage of the cool-down reduction offered by the Amulet of Talos (I made it possible to use it in enchanting), I find myself wishing it increased the damage instead so that the Breath shouts (and a couple of others) would actually be practical.

I love it. Be careful. Those Dragons at that level are nasty, for sure. Then again, if you are really set on starting a new Conjurer character, then at least Malik will go out with honor. My conjurer done one of two hings...Run for cover or just run.
Yes, they are! That's why I'm going for the Slightly Mighty version. Combined with playing on Expert/Master I find that to be a good balance for me. I get tough Dragons and tough other enemies too. If I would get the harder versions I think Exp/Master would be too much for me on a Dragon fight.
Yeah, the townsfolk! Man, sometimes they're not even a distraction - they're a pain! The Dragon goes all aggro on me and I can't even use shouts (with Malik I don't, but anyway) because they're all on top of the dragon and I would hit them too in the process.

Everyone has that occasional problem with hired thugs right? I may have run into a glitch, this is the third time that a particular individual has sent goons after me. Being as how I'm RP'ing an orc, and orcs don't steal, (it goes against their code of honor)so I find it interesting.

Hmmm...I know you said you didn't steal anything...but did you by any chance do some bad stuff around a certain cabin?...near Riverwood
I'm thinking about
Spoiler
Anise's Cabin.
I had the same thing happen on my Vamp DiD after stealing some stuff from there. It turns out it's not a bug/glitch.

The Bulsakh had no trouble in BFB. I’m sure this is old news, but it seems that the Atronach Stone is helping him ward off diseases. He got those bubbly visual effects from wolves and skeevers on this little jaunt, but no illness. Uthgerd picked up a nice enchanted sword from the guy at the end. Big D also gave her a copper and moonstone circlet that he found. She put it on immediately. Not an hour later she swapped it for an Imperial Officer’s Helmet that they looted from a looter. Uthgerd is definitely Big D’s kind of woman. She’s still not interested in him, though. (She won’t give him the Mara Amulet dialog. That’s how we judge these things.)

Back in Riverwood, Lucan was overjoyed to get his dust catcher back. Whatever. Duralekh headed upstairs to see if he could get some thanks from Camilla. She was asleep. The beds at the Lucan house are still marked as owned. That means no action for the Bulsakh. Damn.

So they went home to Whiterun and some business with the Jarl. After a good long rest at Uthgerd’s house, of course. When he woke up, there was news from the Western Watchtower. They geared up and headed out in the rain.

Diseases are actually classed as magic effects, so can be affected by the Atronach ability.

Whenever a critter attacks, for each hit the game rolls against the chance to cause the disease it carries, and on a success it casts the relevant spell on you. The Atronach stone grants you a chance to absorb any spell cast on you that's marked 'Hostile', so whenever a hit from one is detected it then rolls for that as well, and on a success the spell gets canceled.

I've put aside Berava for now, as her build is somewhat self-defeating; it needs Dragon souls to work properly but svcks at fighting them until/unless they land, so isn't working out as well as I'd hoped. A pity, really, as it's quite different from the more usual stuff.

I restarted Thavarei, although with a different take. I dropped the Bound weapons in favor of actual ones, added Sneak, and am using only low-end equipment. Currently she's in thief-style Leather armor and using an Imperial Bow with Steel Arrows, and will switch to a Nord Hero bow upon completion of the Companions' quest line.

I just picked up the latest version of Mighty Dragons. They have added an element to the mod the "everybody gets inside" IF they are level 9 or lower. Which is basically all the townies and yet the NPCs like guards and mercs will help.

I installed the Slightly version. Still playing on Master and installed Instant Dragons, so it would trigger the Dragons, without advancing the MQ to that point. I will detail on that later in this post.

I did not know that. This is good info.

-damn- Player can't get no play. :sadvaultboy:

Again with a clarity on the good info, :goodjob:

Welcome and we are glad you are with us. Looking forward to hearing about your Dunmer Merchant. :read:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Making our way back to the Daedra Pad from Riverwood, our two Dark-N-Lovelies were confronted by a few Bandits just past the Guardian Stones. This led to a small chase in the Helgen direction....The Bandits were in front...

After filling his Black Star...MooHooHooHaHaHaaaaa!!!! um , sorry I slipped into character there...

After filling his Black Star, ValKyn picked up something from a very charred corpse. It was a journal. The charred owner was an escapee of the Dragon attack on Helgen. It spoke of survivors still in the Keep. ValKyn recharges his Fiery Honed Greatsword of the Ancients and sets out for what should be easy pickins', to obtain another soul for the star.

An earlier event led them through Helgen. He remembers the Dragon flying away and dispatching several Bandits before chasing down that stupid dog. (BTW he is FINALLY cut from the chain. I am glad that quest is over.) The outside was clear, but they had more than just a few wounded survivors to greet them.

The Keep was over run with Bandits. They obviously looted the place after the attack and the Bandit Chief was guarding a chest deep within the Keep. The general population was nothing more than sparring dummies, BUT that damn BC was a monster! She could hit like Uthgred on a late night, hopped up on Moon Sugar and Mammoth cheese.

I figure she had about 10 Health Pots on her and she every damn one of 'em. Ole Val had to use a few as well. This was also the first time I have seen MyKyn take a knee. It was an eye opener no doubt.

Filling our pockets, we headed out the cave, in the back of the Keep. The came across two solders...Guess witch two? They were both badly wounded and neither could stand. ValKyn mutters under his breath...

VALKYN : two souls...no gems.... *He starts to walk away*

MYKYN : We are just going to leave them?

VALKYN : Slay them if you wish. We have no gems. They are of no threat on the ground.

MYKYN : I mean help them. They are not our enemy.

VALKYN : That's the mortal talking in you. Why do you care? They are on their last breath. Their petty mortal lives are of no concern. Besides, can you heal either of them? No you can't. We have but one Health Potion. There are two of them and we have a long road ahead of us.

MYKYN : Then choose.

VALKYN : Choose? Between them?

MYKYN : Between us...

VALKYN: What!?

MYKYN : Help one of them or leave three bodies behind.

VALKYN : You dare challenge me!?

MYKYN : No, my Lord. But if you deny the life of both of these warriors...I cannot continue...with myself.

After a brief ponder ValKyn reaches in his bag and draw forth a small red vial. He grabs the Imperial solder by the back of the head and all but chokes him with the healing solution....vial and all. There was no thought process as to who received this gift of life. The Imperial was just the closer of the two.

A few days later they returned to Riverwood and was greeted by Advar. He thanked them with gifts an offered to show ValKyn a few tricks of the trade. Needing to hone his skills with this mortal gear, until he can find the materials of home, he accepted the offer.

Days turned into weeks. Being physically mortalized Valkyn has certain feelings to overcome him now and again. While indulging in beverage with locals, he sometimes forgets he his Daedra...for a moment. He soon became far more advanced in the humans construction of such armor and weapons, than Advar could ever hope to achieve. Dremora are, by nature, master craftsman and enchanters. He could now repair and improve any type of magic weapon or armor.

This day he was working on improving the Flaming Ancient Blade, when a loud rumble shook the ground. It was Dragon...

This Dragon was Fo 'Loot' Moar. A powerful Frost Dragon. It was around midnight and everyone else was either in bed or at the Inn. MyKyn basically just stands in the middle of the street and takes orders from ValKyn, while he summons Hot Malibu Barbie to cast fireballs at this massive thing, while supporting with fireballs of his own.

Two years later....the damn thing is finally down.

It is weak enough where Valkin can last long enough finish him off....hopefully. This was really dumb. :bonk: . ValKyn somehow looses his helm in the fight. Just as he charges in for the coupe de gra.

During the final few moments, he noticed he had no support from MyKyn. Then from the aftermath he sees her kneeling by the Mill. He rushes to her and says..."MyKyn!....On your feet!"

MYKYN : Thank you my Lord.

VALKYN : For What!?

MYKYN : For calling me Kyn.

EDIT : This "Live another Life" mod is absolutely fantastic. I could not see ValKyn even starting the MQ, but this works very well to introduce the Dragons to the game. Using the Mighty Dragons and the Instant Dragons mod, the really epic Dragons spawn from the start. (although he is actually level 19) This way its like the MQ is going on around them and they are affected by it.

I guess I could have just introduced the Dragons into the game without the Helgen thing, but this...just kind of happened.

Duralekh gro-Bulsakh has reached level 13 at 18 hours of play. Here are some moments from his latest adventures.

In Markarth he met an orc smith who is also from a stronghold. She gave him that unshakable sister feeling. It seems that he will just never be into orc women. He earned some coin while he was there, mostly for running up and down stairs. As he left town, he walked straight into the meat cart while gawking at Hroki. This guy needs a perk tree for lady skillz.

On the way from Markarth to Whiterun, the Bulsakh and the Bulldog (Uthgerd) had to fight every Stormcloak, Imperial, and Thalmor group they encountered. No one seems to like Uthgerd's looted Imperial Officer’s Helm. She was on her knees after about one second of conflict with the Thalmor. Big D decided that he would leave her in Whiterun this time. The old girl needs some rest.

A little solo jaunt on the tundra yielded a vial of pink goo and some interesting information about his ex, Ysolda. Now he has something that she wants. Ha! Of course he gave it up as soon as she asked for it. Even with the Amulet of Zenithar (that he pulled from someone’s severed neck), the Bulsakh is not much of a negotiator.

Still, her gold let him finished his Dragon Kit. Now he has fire resist boots and frost resist boots. That should do it. After BFB we released the dragons, but Duralekh is not the Dragonborn. That means no Shouts. We just pretend that the soul absorb light show is part of what happens to magically resurrected dragons when they die, and never unlock any words that he finds.

Now he needs to go finish some business in Riften, but this orc is no loner. So he jogged back to Rorikstead and hired young Erik the Slayer. They got to fight together right away. A dragon attacked while they were still within sight of town.

The battle went well with no losses on the ground, at least locally. Big D even had time to pull on his anti-frost boots while the dragon sailed around icing everything from Morthal to Old Hroldan, or so it seemed. That one had a real attention issue.

Back on the road they stopped in Whiterun to pick up some better gear for Erik. Duralekh is keeping Smithing to a minimum, which means that shops can be as exciting as treasure chests. Duralekh was overjoyed to find the Khajiit caravan outside the gates. Tremendous luck, they had another pair of fire resist boots for sale. Duralekh used up most of his gold buying them for Erik. Here’s how we interpreted Erik’s failure to equip either the new boots or the ones that the Bulsakh had been wearing.

Duralekh: Here you go, kid. Next dragon might not be a frosty. With these boots you won’t scream as much when you’re on fire.

Erik the Slayer: Thanks, D, but I already have a pair of iron boots.

D: Oh hells, I forgot about that. Right, you can wear my leather ones. They have the same enchantment.

E the S: Ha! Why would I wear unimproved leather boots? You’re funny. I’ll just keep clomping around in these iron boots that my da bought for me, even though I’m more skilled in light armor.

D: Ffffffff—

So now Big D has a reason to do some women’s work at the forge. Maybe when he learns to improve enchanted items, young Erik will wear his new boots, and then D won’t have to smell him burning.

I never did play with that spellsword, I started an Assasain an got carried away...

New character:

Name: Havel (Guess the reference)
Race: Breton
Gender: Male

Class: Cleric
Skills: Restoration, One-Handed (mace and sword), light armour, maybe smithing, maybe enchanting, maybe block.
Planned gear: Dawnbreaker (?), Spellbreaker (?).

I already started this guy a while ago. He hasn't come anywhere near death yet because Restro turns him into a tank.

He is currently lvl 5-7 (can't remember). He has hide armour and a novice hood (looks great). Steel mace and an orcish bow, apprentice spells, couple thousand gold.

He never intimidates, if he can avoid it, and goes for persuasion, he never breaks the law, he tries to help others.

Backstory:

Havel was an apostle of the nine, serving in the great temple of the Imperial City, under the Thalmor regime. He and many other priests all had secret shrines to Talos underneath the temple.

One day, the Thalmor, tipped off by one of the priests, seized the temple and executed the perpetrating priests, only Havel, slaying two with his bare hands, managed to escape.

Havel was on the in for weeks and seeking refuge, crossed the border into Skyrim. Unfortunately, he was caught by the Imperials and sent to death.

When the dragon attacked, he fled with Ralof. He has reported to the Jarl of Whiterun, worked up a small fortune from exploring and honest work and done some misc. quests. He discovered the Lord stone and is currently heading to get the Dragonstone.

Unfortunately, he had to fight off a Thalmor death squad, they have caught up to him. He has heard rumours of an undead slaying being up in the hills of solitude and is heading to investigate.
