The unrealisticness of dialogue...

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 12:31 am

lolwut? they were more stupid than the NPCs in skyrim, + most of them where standing still on their place during ALL THE GAME, you maybe wanna play it again...
and no, you can't

You're trying to change the topic to activities of NPC's intead of their dialogue because the only thing you could come up with is "they were more stupid"?

In Oblivion NPC's greeted you with "hello" and "good day". Not with "Do you come to the cloud district often? Oh what am I saying, ofcourse you don't" every single time. I prefer Oblivion in this matter.

the fact that YOU prefer oblivion does not means its better tho
I find skyrim's dialogies way more funnier and interesting, also they can greet you with a simple "hello" or "fight well" like in oblivion PLUS they have all the other sentences, isn't this an improvement?

One thing that bothers me about Skyrim compared to other RPGs is its lack of humor. The characters are so [censored] boring and serious! They don't ever say anything interesting or even remotely funny. And I agree with the OP, it's ridiculous AND annoying how everyone you approach has to talk to you.

There is no CNN, no BBCnews24, no internet. How else are people in a low tech society supposed to keep up with what is happening in the world?

I've come to the conclusion that I'm in a world where everyone except me is an unaware robot that talks whenever it detects motion, granted that is basically what it is but I almost never feel like I'm talking to a real person. I've learned to accept that but I feel very lonely when playing Skyrim because of it.

seriously, is there any other open world game that makes you feel like you are talking to a human being when talking to an NPC?
even cleverbot is stupid yet...what did you expect?

Is there any other open world game that makes you feel like you are talking to a robot even before you utter a single word? Because I'm sick of hearing what is wrong with Skyrim today EVERY single time I go to the general store to sell my loot.

pretty much evry single one, yeah
mostly because they are computer generated fictional characters and not real people, you know?

oh, and I'm still waiting the name of the game that doesn't do that (yeah, I know, it doesn't exists yet)

Are you blind or what? When you get close to Oblivion or Morrowind NPCs and they say stuff like "Hello", "Greetings" or "We're watching you scum" it just works. It's a little repetitive but then again, I do say "Hello" to everyone I meet in the elevator either. It's repetitive but doesn't feel artificial because it feels realistic

Now then, if each and every single I met someone on the elevator and I said "You know, I had a lot of fun when I was still a student, ha those where the good times!" verbatim with never a single variation and with never a single consideration that the recipient did already hear me say it 50 times, yeah it would feel Skyrim bad, fake, artificial. THIS is the Skyrim problem.

Then you didn't play the same game than all of us because mine don't say that. They say stuff like "You know what's wrong with Skyrim these days? ..." or "Do you go to the cloud district ..."

I could say the same to you, mine says "hello", "need something" and other normal stuff too, maybe yours is bugged...

It's just that we didn't meet the same NPCs. The named ones in town are guilty of "moronic pvssyr that nobody cares about" but I guess the very generic ones don't say much when you get close to them.

It's not because you didn't meet the annoying ones that they don't exist and that people aren't allowed to complain about them you know.

The only time it legitimately bothers me is in mines, with the miners who you have no interest in talking to but won't shut up and keep repeating how they "just want to mine" and "I'm only here to work" when you haven't even addressed them, and you, are actually just trying to mine.

It would be nice if they made it to where an NPC wouldn't keep repeating the same thing if you were near them.
Sometimes I just wanna sit at a bar, but can't because the bartender keeps going:

"Oh, I'm sorry, didn't see you there-Can I help you?"

"Oh, I'm sorry, didn't see you there-Can I help you?"

"Oh, I'm sorry, didn't see you there-Can I help you?"

"Oh, I'm sorry, didn't see you there-Can I help you?"

Wouldn't mind seeing that fixed.

They did.
Meanwhile, in Skyrim your race means nothing whatsoever.
Khajiits arent allowed in cities, except for the player character and no reason at all is given.
In other games you got at least a disposition increase among members of your own race. Even that is gone, as there is no disposition anymore.

I consider the disposition gone a good thing actually, but yeah cities lack races
