Is there anything in F:NV that you will miss in Fallout 3?

Stepping atop the scenic over-look outside the vault and imagining how it looked pre-war, the music...
Wow.
But, I saw the beginning of this game online, (I am weak and NMA is strong), and it seems stepping outside of Doc M.s house has a similar effect.

Metro Tunnels. I guess a lot of people hated them, but I loved them. Tense, dangerous, restricted and limited visibility. Once Martigens Zones Respawn was out the Metros became one of my favorite places in the game.

Apparently, the underground in NV is pretty limited. That's a major bummer.

There were a lot of cool characters in FO3, but I think the one I'll miss the most is Jericho. I almost never play an evil character, but he really made it worthwhile when I did. He cracked me up with his comments all the time. I'll also miss that "magic" feeling a lot of you are describing you felt during your very first FO3 playthrough. I felt it too, and I know that regardless of how cool NV is I won't feel it again. To me NV will be just like the DLC I got half a year after beating FO3; like I already know how to survive, all I need is to walk around until I find enough gear to do so. Then again, HC mode might help.

the first view of the wasterland after leaving the vault. I started playing fallout without even knowing what was the game about and that just suprised me alot. One guy from my class said the game was about getting gifts and car racing :D

I'll miss my ignorance the first time I set foot in fallout 3. I had no idea that if I activated a quest, it would put a little arrow where i needed to go in the mini map. I spent a week of solid play trying to get to three dog through the city, not knowing where the hell I was going. It was a blast. Once I figured out that map trick, the game got much easier (which I didn't like). By the time I started imposing hardships on myself (such as no armor, no regular save, no vats etc...) I already knew where to go. I'd much prefer a quest to give me a vague map I have to decipher (like red dead treasure maps). That was awesome.

I'm afraid I will miss that special post-apocalyptic feeling FO3 had. I really hope that feeling is still there - If NW turns out to be some stupid Western-like cowboy game, I simply will wipe it out of my HD ...

Post apocalyptic feeling was the most important element in F03 - And I liked it a lot - Cowboy "culture" in the other hand is not at all interesting for me.

It's been 204/203 years since the bombs dropped and Vegas was never hit.
It's perfectly logical why it shouldn't look like the bombs dropped a week ago.

If whole world is pretty much wiped out with nuclear bombs - it will take millenniums before civilizations can recover.
And first few centuries things indeed gets worse. Most resources are imported nowadays - so after nuclear apocalyptic "ordinary" life can't flourish because of lacking resources.

I really hope that developers has understood that post apocalyptic feeling was the key of success FO3 got. But as I already mentioned I'm afraid NV might be an disappointment for me. I was kind of abashed when I first understood that they are focusing e.g Casino gaming ...
I just can't understand why anyone would like to play "playing" in a casino - If I like to gamble I just visit some real casino....

As Albert Einstein said:
"I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."

So, if this game is some kind of "red dead redemption" with possibility of virtual gambling - I will just hate it.

Fair point, still, should all areas from now and forever look like Fallout 3?
I think it would be incredibly boring.
They shouldn't move too fast forward though.
But for Fallout to always stay in that "day after the bombs" setting, I can well do without it.
/opinion

[edit]
I'm not asking for the next city to be completely rebuilt yknow.
But I do want some towns to actually look nice.
And not look like a copy paste of Junktown.

I agree with that - I'm willing to see SOME recovery - but not so that You can't feel the past destruction. ( So that after 200 Years it is the same as Wild West was - it is not believable. )

I hope they don't give a cheap explanation like "It's cause of the Fallout Divergence" and then just brush it aside.
I am kinda confused as to why a lot of people in Vegas started the cowboy feel..
Maybe it's the new trend in the Nevada area?
