Is there anything in F:NV that you will miss in Fallout 3?

Post » Tue Jan 11, 2011 2:40 pm

I am curious if there is anything in F:NV that you will miss from Fallout 3? I havn't read too much so I don't see any spoilers, but for those of you who know, What will you miss that was in Fallout 3 but is not in New Vegas.

The only thing I might miss is the ruined buildings. The sence you get that you are in a metroplitan city. From my limited stuff I saw, it seems everything is wide open, in that there is no tall buildings littering the land scape when you are in a city. From what I saw, there is no sence of like Escape from New York type atmosphere. I do not know if any weapons or anything like that have been omitted or not. From what I know, alot of new weapons have been added.

So basically what will you miss, that will not be in F:NV?

So I am not making a new thread, will there still be invisible walls in NV? I hated it in Oblivion, and hated it again, in Fallout 3. So will invisible walls so you can't go out of bounds or visit certian locations be in the game again?

Also will we have unpickable locks? I hated in Fallout 3, there were locks you can't pick, and it said "you must have a key" to get into it. That broke the immersion somethimes and just hate it, not just dislike it, but hated it.

Yeah DC's atmosphere was awesome and unique, but i'm happy that they moved on to a brand new and way different atmosphere for new vegas. I'm not sure about what weapons we're gonna have in new vegas, but i bet anything that fallout 3 weapons will be back muh friend. I agree about the invisible walls, but what would you have them do?? Maybe something like in morrowind that there were no invisible walls but if you tried to swim to the main land you would get a never ending sea too cross. :P Maybe we could get a never ending dessert that leads to nowhere.. It's better then getting stopped by magic barriers! Am i right?! Or am i RIGHT!? Is there anyone else!? IS THERE ANYONE ELSE!!?!!

If they don't have a wasteland survival guide in some form, I'll be a wee bit saddened :( raiding the super duper mart at level 2-3 was one of the best parts of the game, considering you waste like 4 bottlecap mines (sorry, CAN waste, choices are good :D) on raiders, which end game die in a single shot. fun to be sneaky and lay traps though.

Well, I don't believe any weapons have been removed, however LOTs have been added. NV has about twice the weapons that Fallout 3 did. Also invisible walls are almost guarenteed. There in almost every game and its hard to see it without them.

I don't mind "barriers" as long as they don't look like I could walk over the rubble, then walk up to it and walk into a wall with an active stealth boy on. :brokencomputer:

I'll definitely miss the eerie sense of ruined grandeur you got from wandering through the burnt-out wreckage of downtown DC. However, New Vegas will certainly have its own great sense of ambiance to replace this.

I'll miss the feeling of venturing into a post-apocalyptic wasteland for the first time. Considering New Vegas is going to feel similar to Fallout 3, I don't think I can have that magical experience again.

I was playing earlier and i saw a red blip on my compass so I look over... Mole rats... haven't seen those in a while usually it's giant/albino radscorps/Yao Guais/and Deathclaws and all of a sudden a Yao Guai leaps over and rips my face off and scares the hell out of me.

I do hope there are leaping/fast animals to fight again :D

->at the quote, I liked in the early game when you'd be fighting stuff off in a building or something and ran out of ammo. good thing I picked up this spoon to defend myself with :toughninja:

I think i'm going to miss the major BoS presence in the game. I know most people are bored of them, but they are my favorite people.

btw- i'm fine with the enclave gone. :P

I was never really of fan of power armor in the first place :/ I understand why some people like it, but I prefer the sneaky character like batman! :batman: well sometimes at least...

Yeah I think I'll miss the devestation somewhat. I love the ruined areas of downtown DC, but it won't bother me that much.

Also will we have unpickable locks? I hated in Fallout 3, there were locks you can't pick, and it said "you must have a key" to get into it. That broke the immersion somethimes and just hate it, not just dislike it, but hated it.

How odd. It's just how they keep you from stuffing up a quest by entering an area prematurely. They have to do it somehow.

I'm going to miss Vault 101, the Chinese Assault Rifle, and those kick ass Chinese Jumpsuits :sadvaultboy: (I still have my fingers crossed that the Devs of NV decided to re-use the texture in some way, shape or form)

Well, we were all out of the Vault in Fallout 3 (even FO1/2 players). We had to learn everything (which key to run?), everything was new.

In this game, just like our character, we will be older and wiser. No more training. Just give me a gun and lets go.

What will I miss? erm... the characters. Sydney. Moira. Bigsley. Sarah. Say what you want about the game, but they were good characters, and I'll miss them not being in Vegas with me, it will feel wierd leaving the Docs office and not "knowing" anyone. ...Ah well, onwards and upwards.

Never thought of that it will be really strange not knowing what a person's personality will be like.

Charon. But other than him I can't think of anything without playing NV. I can't wait for a brand new gamesetting full of new characters, new locations and new stuff to do.
