I've said this before: neogaf and the BGS forums are the two best gaming-related forums I've come across -- and neogaf has strict admission criteria. Strong moderation is awesome, provided there are very clear rules as to what you are and aren't allowed to do, and that the mods aren't rule-nazis and/or compensating jerks; both of which criteria apply to the BGS forums or neogaf.

The dinosaurs have completely taken over Fallout 3 discussion. It's a shame, that you can't have a discussion about the game without the same people coming and expressing their anxiety at the world.

I seldom visit the Fallout 3 section, I thought it was nearly as dead as the other sections.
I don't get the bashing of Fallout 3 though, alright parts don't add up but they can be made to add up, people just take a fantasy story too serious.

Surely, you mean the New Vegas and Fallout General discussion. I don't think many of the dinos actually venture over to the F3 section.

I'm serious. I came from a few forums. I have been examining how people act on each forum. Gears of war 3 forum, Battlefield 3 forum, and for the testing reasons, Modern Warfare 3 forums.

While I was part of those forums, I noticed whenever I made a thread or a post, 50% of the time I would get negative responses. Negative Responses, insults, and the feeling of hatred spewed those forums. You would honestly have to watch what you say on those due to the fact that if you messed up, well, your going to get made fun of in an aggressive way


On the other hand we have Bethseda Forums. I noticed that Everybody(besides a select few : l) will show support and constructive criticism, and just a feeling of compassion.


FOR EXAMPLE: Just today I made a thread on here with a poll where I forgot a third option. The responses from the people that were part of the third option, were vary mature. They said "Since their is not a both option, I couldn't vote". You would think that would be a normal response right?


Well on the other forums, these are what the comments looked like. "This poll couldn't be more biased, awful", "Biased poll is biased" "Poll is [censored]". What enraged me was not what they were pointing out, I was furious about the fact that they cared more about the options that they completely ignored the topic itself

Well, all in all, I just noticed that this forum often shows the nicer side of people. Not saying that there aren't that select few that continuously act immature and not productive at all, but it's still the best out there.

I'm active on 3-4 other forums. One other major forum is just as civil as this, and the moderators are lenient, the rules are reasonable, and there's no banned subject.

This place is alright though, some people are really nice. Community Discussion at least.

Well, it helps that the regulars are so quick to hand any new members our chemically prepared ...er, especially delicious fishysticks.

I'm not trying to pick on you Stannie, but as someone that can read all the warnings we dispense, sociopathic tendencies are far from limited to the younger members. I've met 35 year olds that lack maturity.

Very true. We've had trollish members who were in their seventies, and those who've responded to my warnings/bans with the most have almost all been over 30.

That's basically why I turned down the chance to be a 'Dinosaur'. Felt to elitist, not a true fan of Fallout, just being the 'I prefer the OLD ways' in a smug accent. Personally I love Fallout 3, but New Vegas spoiled me in so many ways it's hard to go back to 3 from a gameplay perspective. (Mainly the lights, life, and progressive revitalizing of humanity.)

This is the reason I stayed here. Normally when I join up on a forum, I ask my question, wait for my answer, and never return. But something about this one caught my attention, and looking back it was the awesome community. I had the fortune of joining up for Oblivion after it had been out for a while, so many of the more negative members had already moved on. If I had joined when FO3, NV or Skyrim was being released, I doubt I could have seen through it all and stayed.

There are other forums I'm active on, and they're just as good as this one; but I still consider this my favourite because of the community here, and the apparent shared interests of many people.

You over-generalize the whole issue. I don't think there's a single Dino out there who thinks Fallout 3 is a spawn of satan or that Bethesda should die.
