Ya it was not enjoyable. But have you been to the BF3 forums? Are you the only one that can relate to what I'm talking about ahaha

I'm a member over at the BF3 forums. Let's just say I made several posts against Dice, EA and BF3 and then I stopped posting. I hate that place.

This place is pretty good. The mods do a great job of controlling things; I know I've been looking at the ban hammer for a while because you know, I'm such a ray of sunshine and all.

You over-generalize the whole issue. I don't think there's a single Dino out there who thinks Fallout 3 is a spawn of satan or that Bethesda should die.
(well, apart from No Mutants Allowed, RPGCodex or KyleM, that is )

If one of us is being an elitist dooshbag, then the rest can't do much about it. :ermm:

IMHO, the whole "passionate" fan is no different than in the TES section or anywhere else. Try creating a thread about guns over there and see the firestorm going down on your head. :(
Yeah, but it gets tedious. Every time there's a thread about Enclave, Modernism, or Vs threads, I see the same knuckleheads shouting the same 'points' or 'facts'. At this point I can easily predict the out come of most threads involving those keywords. I can't say I wander into TES, I haven't played a TES game since Oblivion, I try to keep out of things I don't know.

Don't haunt too many really active gaming forums. Some are nothing more than Q&A boards for not-so-popular games, so they don't get too out of hand. LotRO has pretty mature forums (as is reflected by the game), but WoW can be an absolute free-for-all filled with trolling and insults punctuated by spurts of banning. Not a pleasant place. I do think Bethesda's boards are one of the best.

I agree. I was told about this forum with I contacted Bethesda with a request for Skyrim.

I am so glad I came here as it is so nice ^^

I think this forum is nice enough. People seem to tolerate my ramblings and accept my help when they need it. And that's good enough for me. :)

* I remember people by their avatars and signatures, not usernames.
This, it's very confusing when they change their avatar.

Yes, as i do that too, it gets confusing. It's just easier to remember images than usernames. And even then i only remember a handful of active posters in the section i currently frequent  (that includes always CD and currently Skyrim boards).

US or UK forums?

I was on both but got permabanned from EAUK (during BFBC2 days... maybe you remember me :P I was one of the most active and vocal posters with 12k posts)

What really pissed me off was that I got the initial ban defending THEIR DEVS against personal attacks by other members.... and then that ban was made permanent when I made a 2nd acct posting trying to get all the people complaining about my ban to calm down.

I was a bit peeved to say the least.... ended up really trashing the mod that permabanned me and now they won't even talk to me anymore lmao. No chance of ever being let back in there unless that mod leaves EA.

Que sera, sera

I love it here. I do not know what it is, but most other gaming communities just have a violent feel to them, and everyone gets angry and it never ends too well there. They are also extremely violent towards the "noobs" and have warped the meaning into something completely different. The occassional flame war between the new people in the skyrim forums that do not read the rules comes about, but the mods do a great job and take care of them accordingly. This forum and one other one only have been very good at keeping civilized and orderly.

Yah, I've enjoyed the Beth community since I joined to talk Brink pre-launch.

I had nothing but flame contests while on EAUK and EAUS boards.

Skyrim forum sure has its fair share of immature users. Not sure why,but there aren't as many in Oblivion and Morrowind forums.

To be honest, when I first joined here, I was quite disappointed. I started a thread in CD that ended up with everybody in the thread attacking me. But it's been smooth sailing since.

I like to think that myself and Andy maintain a level of maturity and decorum not seen on other forums.

What was the thread about?

I was trying to have a discussion about what video games could be considered to have "literary" (not just "artistic"/"creative") merit, and gave examples of books that are considered literary-with-a-capital-L. You know, books that professors of literature would typically pick. The point of the thread wasn't what I considered "good" games, but what people in the know would generally consider "literary" games. Long story short, I had to ask for the thread to be closed. I'll get to attempting a discussion about it again in the... quite distant future. :P

When I first started getting into making games, I realized how much goes into them. You have writing, art, music, and sometimes even video. It's like all of our forms of media combined into one, with an additional layer of interactivity. Sounds like that could be an interesting thread. :D
