This Forum has the nicest and least childish community

I'm serious. I came from a few forums. I have been examining how people act on each forum. Gears of war 3 forum, Battlefield 3 forum, and for the testing reasons, Modern Warfare 3 forums.

While I was part of those forums, I noticed whenever I made a thread or a post, 50% of the time I would get negative responses. Negative Responses, insults, and the feeling of hatred spewed those forums. You would honestly have to watch what you say on those due to the fact that if you messed up, well, your going to get made fun of in an aggressive way

On the other hand we have Bethseda Forums. I noticed that Everybody(besides a select few : l) will show support and constructive criticism, and just a feeling of compassion.

FOR EXAMPLE: Just today I made a thread on here with a poll where I forgot a third option. The responses from the people that were part of the third option, were vary mature. They said "Since their is not a both option, I couldn't vote". You would think that would be a normal response right?

Well on the other forums, these are what the comments looked like. "This poll couldn't be more biased, awful", "Biased poll is biased" "Poll is [censored]". What enraged me was not what they were pointing out, I was furious about the fact that they cared more about the options that they completely ignored the topic itself

Well, all in all, I just noticed that this forum often shows the nicer side of people. Not saying that there aren't that select few that continuously act immature and not productive at all, but it's still the best out there.

Good job guys keep it up

I'll admit that this forum is easily the best forum (sponsored by the actual developer) that I've been on.

I've been on a few different forums and this has got to be the ONLY one where I haven't had to ask myself the following questions before posting:

a ) have I double checked EVERYTHING so I don't get flame grilled by trolls?
b ) will people think that my comments are dumb or not worthwhile?
c ) have I dumbed down what I'm saying enough that people will read it?

I haven't had to ask myself any of those questions yet, so I have to agree that this is pretty ace. The community is very open and many people post considered responses, not just inflammatory rubbish. Hooray!

The only thing outstanding I've seen has been imo the quality moderators.

MMOs, especially those with PvP, will do bad things to you. I am absolutely innocent and I never flew any spaceships or killed other players for fun or because I could or because I had much better gear ... or did I?

Well, the forums here are okay I guess.

Moderators definitely make their presence known and I think thats why much of the fire-flame trolling is on the down and out.

While I disagree with a great many things posters comment about here, I always try to at least consider their p.o.v and will quite frequently change my position on things when confronted with reasoned debate.

I am a little on the fence about alts here, but only time can tell how that plays out.

Go to BF3 forums please, I insist. Like another person said, other forums make you double check to make sure you won't get flamed. You know those long detailed posts that people take to construct and inform others of their opinions? That really doesn't exist on other forums(According to what I experienced). Other forums pass on what ever is long. If it's long it doesn't matter in other sense.

Not to mention on the BF3 forums, there is a liking system, where people try to post the irrelevant and immature and smart ass pictures/comments just to make you feel bad. Of course it doesn't affect me. So that obviously promotes immaturity in all of us.

I'm just saying, most people on here, are constructive and supportive.

That's in large part because of the moderation team, and because the cheerleaders and trolls have (for the most part) moved onto the next title to alternately extol/defend and defile/attack. What's left are people who like the game for what it is, and for what it could be with modding. They're in it for the longhaul.

...but don't visit a thread comparing any of the ES titles. You'll lose your Zen aura. ;)

Tell me about it...

I see threads saying 'X' isn't like Morrowind or 'X-TES' is better than Y and I immediately close my browser.

Have to agree. This is the nicest forum sponsered by a game company that I have been on. I wont name names, but I remember when I had first decided to post on another forum about encountering a recurring bug that kept corrupting my saves in their help section (and in the right thread to post problems) and yet the only type of responses I had gotten were snide comments from other posters there.

While I can't say this forum is perfect--nothing is--it doesn't feel like I have to have a flame shield up and be forced to play games of one-upmanship if I dare post.

Exactly, I don't have to be constantly thinking about... what would happen if I posted this...

Seriously please, someone go look at the BF3 UK forums. It's full of just trolls. It's awful. Anyone who tries to defend why the actually like they game, they make fun of them by putting them into the group called "DICE DEFENSE FORCE".

I can't really explain the immaturity in that forum.

Theres another forum I have been on where I will get no responses at all...cause in order to ask a question on that forum i have to already know the answer to it first.

The BF3 forums are horrible, filled with trolls, spammers, haters and generally a bunch of idiots.
Even the WoW forums are an ok place to chat compared to those pits of vile hatred.

This forum on the other hand got a good community behind it, a active group of moderators and most importantly... not such a huge troll bait.
Seriously, I believe the official forums for BF are more a giant distraction for the trolls so the devs can get proper feedback elsewhere.

MMO's (specifically PvP) and FPS games are extremely competitive by nature, and the hostility in their forums reflect that.

Glad you're enjoying the community. :)

One thing I really appreciate here is that I can disagree with someone without being instantly pulled into a flame war. In fact, I have yet to have someone be out-and-out ugly. Even if there's a bit of snark, and I've seen arguments devolve, there are relatively few trolls compared to other places I've been.

I think you may be right, recently one of the moderators stated that the opinions of those on the forums really don't matter because they are just a void of negativity. Which I can understand.

Not trying to sound like I came from 'Nam, everybody listen to me. But seriously, I just felt like telling all of you guys that this forum is great. Enjoy it.

It probably comes with the virtual gun and uniform. Sort of saying, "Do not think, recruit! Just shoot. You are not being paid for thinking." - Just a guess, but you see similar behaviour in other forums where masses of players team up to kill one another. They cannot switch from their in-game roles (powered by adrenaline) to a normal personality easily so everyone just goes along with the acting and nonsense. Do not let it bother you. It is a side-effect of the games.

There are the malcontents as every group has but on the whole I agree that a large part of the participants offer reasoned discussion on most topics.Well done all

Yes yes, BF3 was the worst, even the Producers call that forum the black void of negativity. But that doesn't say that my time on the gears 3 forum wasn't awful haha.
