I hope the next dlc will be the size of shivering isles or even bigger.

I agree it's not the best DLC try have released, but it's still pretty good. I just can't fathom saying that you shouldn't even play it EVEN IF you liked Skyrim.

Heck, as a console player, the upgraded dragons would almost be worth the DLC in itself as I now semi fear dragon encounters again on my lvl 81. Not quite as hard as I would have liked, but still I have a slight chill when I hear the dragon flying around.

Granted you could argue that this should be in vanilla Skyrim as it was much needed.

really I think it is on par with knights of the nine if not slightly better,(it has been a long time since I have played morrowind so my memory of Tribunal and bloodmoon are hazy but in my defebse I played morrowind after I played Oblivion so the lesser graphics and some other things took away from the experince. but we might see more stuff for dawngaurd come out in patchs, I dont expect huge things but maybe something like sun damage, silver weapon smithing, and so but I rather enjoyed Dawngaurd now I have only played the Dawngaurd side and the biggest complaints are that they are both almost the same and you cant perma block the sun(I feel like perma block the sun should be possible as a patch). but I enjoyed it non the less.

IGN are well known for dialing in their reviews without actually completing the game. "We didn't hear any new music" ??? There's new music playing throughout the time you are in one of the new areas of the game!

As far as I'm concerned, IGN is a terrible critic source. They've been bought out before, and they praise popular games while condeming others based off of first impressions.
That aside, it looks like an extention to the werewolf/vampire abilities which is good enough for me. I haven't played it myself yet, but as long as it adds to my experience I'm getting it. There's little to no reason to not buy it unless it's an absurd price.

really with it adding crossbows, vampire/werewolf perks trees, the vampire transformation, and dragonbone weapons alone are well worth it and are the highlights to this dlc if you ask me. but the Main quest is not bad even if it was mostly the same for both sides, new companions Serena, Armored Troll,Gargoyles( I cant help but get a kick back to the old cartoon watching them breakout of their statures. some cool new armor sets and a few other goodies. I the only 2 dlc oblivion had that were better were Knights of the nine and Shivering isles(and I think dawngaurd is comparable if not better than kotn) so this has done exactly what a dlc should add lots of cool new things. sure there are some bugs and thinks that are not the best(tons of vampire raids and no perma block the sun) but really i think at the very least this DLC is an 8/10

Exactly what I expected from Kotaku, and exactly what I expected from IGN. Both cater to different kinds of fans.

I hope the next DLC is dinky and quick so the third can be a SI.

Let's be honest, IGN caters to console companies and major publishers, not gamers. You can pay for scores with IGN, they're basically the worst "journalists" in the industry, right next to OPM and OXM. Say Halo 4 ends up being obviously and easily the worst game in the franchise. What kind of score do you think OXM would give it? Say Last of Us ends up being repetitive and boring despite looking amazing pre-release (hi Far Cry 2 ...), think OPM would mention that? It's like some kind of holy trinity of fake journalism.

Only Honest Hearts came under some fire because it was kinda dull. You felt like you got your money's worth, but it was barely worth it and lacked a "wow" factor like the others.
Lonesome Road, yes, I'm aware of the scathing reviews, but it makes perfect sense for the DLC as it's not really something a reviewer (who regularly reviews very different titles) can pick up and understand what an impact the DLC has for people who followed New Vegas to the end. The FANS (people who followed New Vegas from beginning to end) love it, everyone else thought it was meh; makes all the sense in the world as someone who buys Lonesome Road without understanding the meaning of anything Ulysses says or any of the meaning behind events in the main game AND the story that stretched across the DLCs? They won't know what they're missing or what's going on and thus won't like the DLC, thus the low ratings on reviews, albeit you would have no clue reviews were low if you visited the New Vegas forums.

And even so, people refer to Zeta as an abomination. Zeta and Anchorage get far more criticism than HH.
So again, newness has nothing to do with it. Dawnguard is being insulted because it svcks, not because it's new.

I'm not saying that the New Vegas DLCs weren't loved but I saw a good number of hate thread for Dead Money and at least one for each of the other three. I haven't even played Dawnguard yet, I have to wait for the vague ps3 release date.

I stopped listening to them when they gave Red Dead Redemption a 9.75 for rare glitches. It seemed like they were trying to avoid giving it a 10

I can't think of any game that deserves a 10. Nothing is ever perfect.

I believe that the whole rating system is seriously skewed. None of it really holds any relevance any more. Really Really poor games get an 8, while supposedly brilliant games get a 9.5. Riddle me that one.

I know RDR wasn't prefect but they could have come up with something better than a few odd glitches. I personally hate their review of Duke Nukem Forever, it was't anywhere close to the hype it had but it deserved better than a 4

And good games get mediocre reviews!!! That game "Viking battle for Asgard " entertained me for 30 hours, and they give it a 6.9!!!!

I dunno about that, a four is probably a realistic score. It's just that many equally rubbish games get scores that are drastically inflated.

You completely missed the point. Threads will get closed if people like yourself make utterly pointless inflammatory posts.

And yes, post limit.

That's a silly reason for not liking IGN. Beyond all the bribery and openly getting buddy-buddy with big gaming companies like EA (Chobot in ME 3) and the console makers I mean. It seems like that stuff is far more important. 9.7 is a terrific score.
