Intel i3 2.10 GHZ , 4GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics Family.

I know, cheap stuff. This laptop was only like $350 when I got it last October, but I'm mostly a console gamer, I just use this for WoW and some casual games.
I have no idea what "Intel HD Graphics Family" means for a laptop, but if you can play WoW (in current form/all expansions) then I'd guess you can play D3. You may, of course, have to turn most of the grahic options down pretty low/off, and performance may be sluggish. But I'd guess it'll run at least. Maybe even better than "just run." Based on the beta, at core it didn't appear to be a very demanding game. Blizzard's pretty good with that.

But don't quote me. I'm just guessing.
I do know someone who said the beta ran on his old laptop (don't know his specs tho, sorry) but said it ran pretty poor due to his integrated video.

One more day to go :D

(well, counting that I'm not going to any midnight sales, and aren't getting it digital, so I'll only be getting it noon-ish tomorrow. Wouldn't be starting up until 3am tonight anyway, and there's no way I'd stay up that late for a game.)

The installer was a 7.60gb download and installing after was fast. I went to the login screen and didnt seem to get any updates. Think im just ready for them to flip the switch.

Alright, thanks.
Was expecting my Physical copy in the post today since it shipped on thursday, but no luck. Ordered from "Game". Wondering whether that was smart given that they were/are having financial problems.

Hopefully it comes tommorow and theres no big patches so i actually get to play instead of waiting all night on downloads.

Took an hour for it to move 2 percent. I will NOT be playing this at midnight. :(

I hear ya.

I used to do that, but these days pulling nights like that leaves me useless the next day.

I'm pretty well set on getting it, despite some reservations, and am filling in the time by going back and playing one of my Amazons inDiablo 2. Definitely looking forward to the improved stash; while the intent behind D2's inventory mechanics is good (they want you to have to choose between items, which makes sense), the implementation svcks (personal stash and inventory are too small compared to the amount of worthwhile stuff that drops, especially if (like me) you're a crafter).

The improved stash is a bit like Titan Quest, that I observered anyway. You start out with a tiny stash, but then after spending lots of gold on upgrading it, end up with quite a huge stash. Plus it's shared between characters, which is nice, altho this means the stash will feel a bit smaller in a way, if you want to hold onto stuff for multiple chrs. During the beta I never bought any stash upgrades tho....I used most items that could be sold for cash and spent what cash I did have on trying out the crafting, instead.

If all the people I personally knew who felt underwhelmed by the beta (but are still buying the game anyway) play through all difficulties and decide the game is a lot better than the beta showed, I may reconsider buying it. But if I did, I still won't be playing publically. Just by myself.

Oh...for those who might be interested - the RealID was bugged in the beta (it showed names even if you had RealID account-disabled). You aren't supposed to see real names in D3 at all, unless you allow it (like how it works in SC2) and have it enabled. But since it can be bugged/glitched, it still makes me grumpy/nervous. :P

I plan to sink ridiculous amounts of money into crafting myself, as I always do in any game that lets me, since default gear often doesn't cut it past the beginning. Of course, I have no idea how the gear in D3 is set up, but I suspect it will still be the case.

Again, just the beta levels (which isn't much, clvl wise)...fairly random, but easy to win with even white items. In the weapon category I tended to find lots of stuff that was close to or occasionally better than what I saw in the crafting - I found little in the way of armor. But the crafting was interesting enough to want to see what was available, so I kept tossing the cash towards it. I suspect it would be even more true at higher levels when the items might get more interesting vs. the low level stuff. :)

You had to post that didn't you. I figured that they'd do one of those things mentioned in the article (I'd have been really surprised if they hadn't, considering how ubiquitous it became in D2)...but the other stuff. I wouldn't mind seeing it. I'm sure it'll be LOL worthy. :)

If you click on the link to the original Diablo fans forum where this stuff was confirmed, you can see the meshes for Diablo and a whole bunch of other bosses. Some of them look really interesting.

I had the opportunity to play http://www.pathofexile.com/ this weekend as they had an open beta weekend similar to Diablo 3's public stress test a few weeks ago...and I have to say, the graphics and the depth of Path of Exile had me feeling like if a development team the size of Blizzard was to pursue the direction that Path of Exile is currently taking with its indie team of developers, it'd be a much better game that'd would probably make everyone happy.

Aw man I missed that? Shame. It looks like an interesting game. It's going to be free to play right? I wonder how well that's going to work.

Spoiler
What does Path of Exile cost to play?

Path of Exile is 100% free to play, for everyone, forever. Our website will allow the purchase of many in-game perks and aesthetic upgrades, but all of these are completely optional, and players can have a complete, fulfilling gaming experience without spending a penny.

I still don't understand how it's free to play - what's the catch

There is no catch at all, once you download the client you are free to play for as long as you like, with no charge. The purchasable perks do not convey any gameplay benefit, but help you create a unique look for your character and its fighting style.

Its basically using the same Free to Play MMO business model that everyone else uses..

Most of those games aren't Diablo style games though. Often they're competitive multiplayer games. League of Legends, Tribes Ascend, Team Fortress 2, etc. Looks like in Path of Exile you can play a lot on your own, and most of the contact with other players is when trading with each other in towns. I don't know how many people (except those that are doing it specifically so they can support the devs) would pay for aesthetic upgrades when there's nobody around to show off your fancy look to most of the time.

I guess we'll see, they must've thought this through properly.

Just thought I'd try here as well.

But if anyone in the US is getting a box copy tonight and wouldn't mind parting with one of their Guest Passes, just send me a PM. I'd greatly appreciate it.
I'm rather sick at the moment and would love to be able to play as I won't be working as it is.

Waiting for mine to come in the mail, but don't think it'll show up till Wednesday.

Velorien was kind of enough to help me out. Thanks again

I really should have preordered this a couple of days ago but I couldn't decide if I really wanted to get it just yet. I've been downloading it since noon and it's only at 22 percent. Damn this slow connection!

My Collector's Edition came in the mail a few hours ago. :D The Diablo skull and soulstone are so cool. Already got it installed on my computer, so I can start playing first thing tomorrow when I wake up (since it becomes available around the time I normally go to sleep.)

So, wait. You got the game, but you can't play it yet? Is that right, or am I seeing that wrong?

Is there a reason you can't just install it and play it?

The servers don't open until 12 am PST.

The servers will have issues tomorrow either way. Doubt I'll get to play much.
