Unofficial DLC Discussion Possible Spoilers Thread #4

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 7:45 pm

I thought the desire would go away once I had the game, but I still really, really want a hardcoe/survival mode. Doubt it will happen though as it doesn't really fit into the "expansive" criteria they've set themselves. :(

Would be nice though.

What I really wanted is now included in patch 1.5  But I'm game for what ever they throw at me, just hope it's as big as the Shivering Isles was. (or bigger)
edit: and judging from whats in patch 1.5, I think the game jam video is a good reference as to what to expect in DLC.

add a new province!!!!
a small province like high rock would be good, of course this dlc would require much time, but seeing that bethesda made broken steel for fallout 3 after so long this is possible too

the dlc i'd like to see is more unique looking weapons i don't know about the rest of you but i find that most of the weapons like swords look too similar it would be cool to have them look different to each other and that they all should have sheaths even those on your back can't say i've ever seen anyone manage to put a sword on their back without one lol i'd also like to see some new armours and clothing and to be able to put different parts of armour on like we could in morrowind i'd love to put on some steel armour with a cool cape i'd also love to be able to travel back to morrowind see the changes there everyone keeps going on about what cyrodiil would be like now it's been 200 years since oblivion but whats the time frame since morrowind 400 500 years are they still traveling the land by walkers is the mud crab still a merchant is the land still mainly water or how about going to to the land of the ancient elves let me know your thoughts people.
also they need to add creator kit for those of us on the xbox 360 as it can handle it.

Oddly enough, I would very much like to be able to have more than one follower at a time. At this point in my character's life I feel it may be time to move on from "solitary adventurer" to "minor local warlord". If I could put together a band made up of J'zargo, that Khajiit caravan guard whose name temporarilly eludes me, a handful of Argonians, and (in my dreams) Mjoll the lioness, I would be ecstatic and, hopefully, widely feared.
Additionally, should, as has been suggested, DLC involve rolling into the Aldmeri Dominions I'd very much like the help of some pals in dealing with those filthy elves.

Then again, perhaps I've just been playing too much ME3.

I'd love to see a large new landmass, the size of Shivering Isles would be nice, but I think they said it would be smaller, more to the size of Point Lookout (which is fine with me). I'd like to see more with the Thalmor, but I'm assuming that will be material for the next game. Another Daedric Prince would be cool, being able to explore his plane of Oblivion would be interesting. Perhaps something to do with the Forsworn or another faction we have let to see or hear of.

dlc = new content, not fixing what you think is broken in current content..many people are happy with the quality of the faction questlines..like me..it's short, yeah, but that's only if you freaking fast travel constantly and don't walk places..and yes, it adds. just like in every tes game they aren't meant to be necessarily grinded through, do other quest too, explore ruins on the way, it took me over a week to finish the companions quset..quite happy with it.

I don't know - putting your destination on the other side of the map so that the character has to walk across the country doesn't necessarily add depth to a quest unless there are goals to be met along the way. Using fast travel shouldn't effect the length of the actual quest. They could have easily made the guilds longer by having a kind of leader board in the guild hall and you had to advance your status by grinding out a few dozen radiant quest - seek and kills etc. Not terribly original, but it would have made a bit more sense.

As for the dlc, I was wondering if they do send us back to Morrowind or Cyrodill, would people be upset if it didn't look the way it did in the previous games? What would the IC look like 200 years later? I hope they send us somewhere vastly different from Skyrim - and that they add Skryim's answer to albino scorpions - high level enemies to fight in the regular game.
Oh, and a gold sink.

First Major DLC - Hircine's Hunting Grounds.

There is a lot of mention of this realm in Skyrim. It is a vast land consisting of misty jungles, sweltering deserts and mysterious forests. This DLC would be very gameplay focused, adding new powers, weapons, armor, skills, etc. It could also be intertwined with the Companions questline.

Second Major DLC - Civil War and Main Quest expansion.

They have to do this, atleast with the Civil War. For the Civil War, it should add a new, long and detailed questline about fighting the Second Great War. Regardless of the side you choose, there is a canon ending. For example: Empire crumbles, Dragonborn creates a new one, Ulfric dies and is revered as a Hero, Alinor is almost completely destroyed, the Thalmor lose, etc. As for the Main Quest, there is a number of directions it could go in. Perhaps Alduin returns, or Paarthurnax and the Dragonborn begin to teach the way of the voice, or maybe a journey to Akavir to save the remaining Dragons there, etc. This would also be an opportunity for them to add more Dragons, more shouts, and a perk tree for the Thu'um. This DLC would be very story driven, as what would happen would affect what will be written in the history books.

Last Major DLC - A land to explore.

This DLC could take us to a number of places - Cyrodiil, Orsinium, Atmora, High Rock, Morrowind, etc. It would be very quest focused, adding several new guilds to join. This DLC would basically expand what Skyrim already is.

hopefully not Hircine's Hunting Grounds. This would most likely be based on were wolves and the companions quest line which in all wasn't that great.

I would like to see some stuff from the game jam as well as new armor/weapons/spells, and some expansive questlines. I would like to see my choices have greater impact upon the world. Below is just a list of some things they should add to the game.

- Higher level dragons: I want more unique dragons and higher level dragons that can be a challenge even at level 81
- Better looking weapons
- More practical weapons: Many enemies should use steel weapons, and weapons that are normally used should look like somebody made them to fight with, not to look at. IMO the steel weapons look bad, because it looks like somebody spent time adding special designs to them. When people still used swords to kill each other, they didn't make the generic soldiers swords/daggers/etc. look detailed, because they were made to kill other people. ALSO, the jarls should each have a special named sword, not necesserily enchanted, but just with a completely unique look (not just a recolor like chillrend).
- A "paper" map: I think the "Quality World Map - With Roads" mod is amazing, and although the 3D map is cool looking i still prefer the paper look. It makes it feel more authentic to me, and it helps with immersion. Also, it shows ROADS!!
- Bucklers: just think smaller shields that look different. They dont block as much damage or hurt as much when doing a shield bash, but they also dont weigh alot.
- More variety with animals: I want to see different kinds of bears, wolves, birds, rabbits, and every other animal imaginable. Also, why are there no cats in Skyrim (or any elder scrolls game that i know of)?
- Sounds of nature: I dont want to just hear that annoying buzzing sound when im near a spriggan, I want to hear birds, frogs, etc.
- Nicer Animals: Why do animals attack you on sight? Animals should definitely defend their territory, but do they have to chase you for miles?
- Nicer Giants: What is it with giants? I remember the first time i saw a giant, it tried to kill me. This is NOTHING like the giants in the early skyrim gameplay I saw, where they would just walk beside you.
- Fletching: You should be able to make your own arrows and bows.
- Bows: There should be a bunch of wooden bows, because metal bows make no sense. Although people did actually make metal bows before, they couldn't beat wooden bows in terms of damage and range, they just beat them because, if properly greased, they were alot more durable. With durability taken out of the game, however, metal bows serve no function whatsoever.
- Different types of wood (if wooden bows replace metal ones): Not like in runescape where you would cut down every tree, just at different chopping blocks.
- DAGOTH UR'S MASK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!: Strong enchanted mask that should be even better than the dragon priest masks
- Fight Konharik

Finally we should get expansion packs instead of DLC. These should be sold online and in stores, and should contain alot of extra content. For example, on expansion pack might take us back to morrowind, where we can explor all of morrowind, join new factions including the morag tong, and access a bunch of extra side quests, as opposed to the general linearity of DLC (do this mission, get weapons/armor/spells, etc.)

EDIT: I forgot to add, everyone should be killable. If this disrupts an entire quest line, then so be it.

EDIT2: Also, animals should be less strong. A couple bears shouldn't be able to kill a dragon. Also, you should be able to kill a single bear alot easier than a dragon. Finally, have dragons more focused. I hate it when im trying to kill a dragon, but it runs away to chase some giants after a few seconds (and since dragons are weak, the giants easily kill it). I remember in the early skyrim gameplay video, I saw a dragon pick up a giant and drop it (obvisouly killing it). I also never see dragons fighting each other.

im happy with what ever they decide to do for DLC,
anything about the Elven Population would really catch my eye to buy straight off as im intrigued by them and would love to know more about what happened to them, and how they lived, i love reading the books i come across about them and there machines and weapons are just so ahead of time even if they did seem to vanish thousands of years ago,
but id probably end up buying all the DLC overtime, like i always do because its always good quality and has a great gripping storyline to it

I agree with almost everything. It's a shame that they forgot Ironwood trees and Black Ironwood trees. It would be so nice to carve a bow in this wood and to endow it with a rope mad with frostspider silk. It would make so much sense if a wolf attacked you only to protect their pups. Where are the snakes deified by Ysgramor's Nedes, where are the Rock warblers and Pine thrush of which we can find eggs. Why can't we touch a bat? Why are Giants so aggressive, and why are Dragons so weak compared to the creatures they are supposed to have ruled? Also, I would love to see herons and frogs.

i'd like just a small dlc to tide us over until the main release dlc like having a farm you can tend to and live in dig your crops chop wood make bows and arrows tan leather from your own animals go to a near by mine and mine some ore bring it back to your farm smelt it down and then hammer out some armour and weapons with all that you can then sell it so shops and adventures you'd have bows arrows fruit vegetables meat armour swords axes etc make some good old gold while we wait for the main dlc

they should take the heavy armors already in the game and cut the pauldrons and the forearm guards and slim the boots down and make a light armor variant by doing this also more weapons i would like to see a scythe or a sickle in the game along with being able to make certain types of weapons or different shape of weapon out of the already common materials or to quote a book from in game "it was a dia-katana made of daedric metal"

I'd pay for a real carriage network. It adds a large amount of immersion imo. Officially supported horse for companions also. Having companions running behind again breaks immersion for me.

Why not a DLC adding many new dialogues? For example, people describing the various species of the fauna and flora of Skyrim, as Briring did in Morrowind, or the various ingredients available. Priests discussing compared theology, or specific problems in casuistry, or delivering sermons and homilies. Scholars giving lectures or conferences in the College of Winterhold. Bards singing long stories in the jarls' houses. Artisans describing crafting techniques. This kind of stuff.

"Under" Blackreach -- The Realm inside the Veins

This is an idea I just had, and hence did not think much too.

Since there is an "inner realm" inside Azura's star... couldn't there be a HUGE "inner realm" inside the Geode veins which delve into the soil under Blackreach? Such a place would be very interesting to visit, and in case it contains souls, it could have stunting implications I barely discern. Possibly it have some link with the Crimson Nirnroots? Perhaps the souls it contains fuel... something. Some underground deity? Perhaps the very material of Geode veins is linked to some "Magic from the Earth", some kind of opposite off the "Magic from the Sky" praised by Ayleid and bound to meteoric glass? In this case, is there an inner realm in Varla Stones as well? If the geod veins connect somewhere underground, tthey could be "gates" to some very, very big realm? What would the inhabitants of such a realm look like?

I don't know how this idea can be used, but I think there is definitely stuff here to make a good DLC, containing amazing revelations about lore.

Play as Jarl - DLC:
Thankful for saving Sykrim from the Dragons, the Jarls decide to award you a Skyrim province to found the new city of "Dragonborne". Here you act as the Jarl of Dragonborne with tasks (quests) like these:
  • find a worthy thane and establish a powerful city ward
  • find settlers, merchants and priests to build up your city (houses, stores, temples)
  • protect your city and province (from raids, war and other threats)
  • protect your neighbours (optional help quests)
  • improve diplomacy and trade with other cities
  • found a dynasty (get married and have children)
  • rise, protect and train your children to become worthy successors
  • with help of your priests, try to get support of the ancient gods (of good or evil) to find the lost parts of the ancient "Dragonsword of Skyrim" to be reforged (combination of the Holy Grail and Lord of the Rings)
  • ultimate goal: become "King of Skyrim" via diplomacy (election) or war (aggression)

Also, some new weapon types like Crossbows, Flails, and Claws would be sweet as a small DLC or part of a bigger one.
