Unofficial DLC Discussion Possible Spoilers Thread #4

I'd like to go somewhere WARM. I live in Canada, and I have had enough of winter.

*Off-Topic* At least Canada doing better than most places! I am actually thinking about moving up there!

Make Jagnar Tharn return as some sort of undead mage/lich XD

1. A couple of Aylied ruins up near the pale pass over for a sense of continuation
2. Falmer ruins and falmer night raiding parties on farms
3. Hairy Goblins in continuous tribal war with falmer
4. Thalmor scouts tailing you.
5. Thalmor heavy troop patrols=6 with two wizards and two archers
6. Legion and stormcloak patrol camps in random areas
7. Fleeing families and refugees
8. Medusa spells
9. Conjure big commodo dragons
10. Wear and tear of armour and also visible broken armour during fights.
11. Fairy sprites with sharp teeth

that's about it for now.

Really hoping for something to happen with the Vigilants of Stendarr. The infrastructure is pretty much there... all that is needed is some more NPCs, some more baddies, and some quests linking them together. Would be easy to do, I'd think.

It would be great to have a "Vigilant" option for dealing with Daedric princes, too... Like you're sent to a particular location to track down rumors of Daedra worship, and uncover the particular questline for that Daedra, but then have some options to screw over that prince. Or hell, just send me after necromancers!

My wife mentioned that the inclusion of the Vigilants in the current version of the game may have been deliberate; if Beth intended to make a Vigilants-centered storyline for a future DLC, it makes sense to have them in *some* form in the game now, so it wouldn't be such a shock when they arrive out of nowhere.

I'd also like an expansion of the werewolf (and hopefully werebear!) presence in Skyrim. This could be connected to the Vigilants, too... but it would also be great for someone who wants an alternative route to lycanthropy.

It would be nice to face the Thalmor in an expansion, too, but ... I dunno. The Thalmor are just so damn depressing. Can we just pretend they never happened?

It seems like Bethesda games tend to feature a mix of new location DLCs/expansions (Bloodmoon, Shivering Isles, that swamp place in Fallout3) and enhanced or additional factions/questlines (Knights of the Nine, Broken Steel). So in addition to expanding the Vigilants, Werewolves (and, ok, I guess vampires), some new landmass or realm to explore would be cool.

I have no idea where we would go, though... is Atmora still there? I think we won't be going back to Cyrodiil, but maybe the mainland of Morrowind? I dunno. People have suggested a Daedric realm too, but I think we're sort of beyond that thanks to the outcome of the Oblivion crisis.

Awesome idea!

10. Wear and tear of armour and also visible broken armour during fights.

While I don't want that for myself, I think they should put in more "hardcoe" options (ability for armor and weapons to break, having to eat food to live, etc.). But also in turn I think they should put in more lenient options, like making followers invincible (even to your attacks), and having weapons never lose charge.

Also, I think if there was a new land, it would have to be an island. I think making a whole continent isn't going to happen (unless they Assassin's Creed it and put 500 people to work).

Post MQ expansion - something to do for high level characters. Something involved that allows for new exploration as opposed to going over covered ground. This would, of course, mean a new locale. There have been great mentions of Orsinium, Atmora, Akavir, or bringing the fight to the Thalmor back in Alinor. I support any and all of that. I'd love to see some more love for Orcs, especially since they've been given some crazy cool looks in this game. Something similar to Tribunal/Sothsteim for Morrowind and Shivering Isles for Oblivion. New space to explore, ingredients to pick up, and whole new sets of arms, armor and baddies. This would simultaneously address these issues that many other comments have asked for.

I would like to echo the vote for more good-centric quests. I had to ditch my Bosmer assassin after she became so evil I couldn't identify with her any more. It is SO easy to do, pick just about any Daedric quest and you pretty much become a jerk. With maybe an exception or two, depending on your play-style. I don't know if I'm alone here, but I want to like my character. And though I can play a badass killer now and again, I tend to lean towards someone who is at least well meaning. I'd like to feel heroic now and then. I want to save someone's life, not just deliver the bad news that I was unable to stop their murder. I want to wage war on some of the "bad" Daedra. Instead of joining the TG have an option to stop corruption in Riften. Real Lawful Good stuff.

Small potatoes: Small factions for vampires. Maybe add a tension between the Cyrodiilic Vampires and the Volkihar. I mean, they are interlopers, after all. Vampires of Cyrodiil encroaching on their territory. Just a thought.

I'm still holding out hope, as my husband mentioned, of there being some great content for the Vigilents of Stendaar. They have set them up well (Hall of the Vigilant AND the Beacon of Stendaar - comeon!), all they need to do is hit it out of the park with some epic questlines.

EDIT: Also, I'd like to play werewolves in first person. But that's not really a DLC thing, just personal preference.

return of the dwemer would be nice
Spoiler
Especially because during the main quest it was revealed that the dwemer were screwing around with the elder scrolls, and the one lexicon quest with the holograph/ghosts they note how it looks like the dwemer left all their stuff waiting for them to return.

or... rise of the falmer

or... both!

but i would definatly like to see stuff that enhances basic gameplay like was shown in the gamejam video, as either a low cost or free dlc.
I hate all elves....especially falmer, and those thalmor....grrrrr. lol.

I like the idea of rebuilding Helgen as well. But only if it gives us some choice to it (sort of like Raven Rock for the E.E.T.C. from the Bloodmoon expansion, but more).

Of course, Todd said (closer to) expansion sized, so I'm hoping the gates to Cyrodil and Morrowind are used, even if it's only a portion of the areas. I would just love to revisit them 200 years later.

Not to bash people's ideas or anything. But we all know what Bethesda is going to do for expansions( because Todd said it numerous times

1. Its going to be large expansions, bigger than fallout stuff.
that said, only extra mini armor dlcs, or one faction quest expansion will not happen on its own

2. It may not neccesarily add new lands or content, but they want to improve gameplay.
Todd mentioned this somewhere is that they dont want to flood you with more exploration quests, but actually improve the game. This is the core of the next expansion. Whatever it is, we will see some new gameplay features.

3.They wont cater or add content for only 1 or 2 playstyles
someone mentioned a dark brotherhood expansion which is a great concept, but this wont happen unless they expand every faction or add new ones. Not to be a downer, but unless it is a large callobration of smaller things, small things wont happen.

What I want..

Simply to see Morrowind and the island of Vvardenfell after the eruption, after the argonians take over, and after the nord mercanaries take over. To see the last part of Morrowind standing, Telvannis, see those greedy mages, learnt heir secrets, overthrow them. Etc etc

thats my 2 cents kids

Let's take the game to Atmora. Some ideas

Geographically: Ice forests, tall evergreens, always snowing. Huge glaciers, crevices, canyons. Always night. Vast parts of this world are under the sea. There are still pockets of air. Maybe you can see through the ice looking up and witness powerful whale creatures swimming above. If not ice, crystal domes that let you see the water around you. Crystal tunnels this way and that. Crystal architecture? Crystal weapons, armor. Extinct volcanoes underwater and above. Sunken cities? Ships?

Lots of ghosts, spirits, wraiths, sea drakes. Tree guardians, maybe spriggan-like but different (trees are sacred to the ancient men). Eldergleam groves. Selkie? Whales.

Natural nurseries under the ice filled with many strange plants warmed by the fires of the earth. Whole oceans under the ice. Maybe use some of Joules Vern's idea about natural static electricity lighting under the surface. Ancient cave paintings depicting an ancient forgotten mystic religion. Old gods. Lots of animism. Shamanism. How to make the ancient man's architecture different from the old nordic (draugr) ruins? Ice cities? Igloo's times ten. Crystal cities from the dawn. Lots of underwater themes. Ancient home of the Nedic peoples is much more alien than expected. At least not quite like skyrim. Whole different flavor. Jylkerfyk ice or crystal city. Also built rocks? Maybe resembling Windhelm. Parts underwater? Massive, massive, massive caverns underwater--dont forget crystal sea domes. Any surviving people? Yes. They are very different now, but I don't mean like the falmer.

this is flow of thought. I'll be back...

If people are talking of returning to Cyrodiil, which would be awesome, I say we go to a whole new province and visit Valenwood (I play as a Bosmer). I wouldnt like one like the Shivering Isles, however, as, whilst beautiful it creeped the hell out of me! I never finished the main quest line for it. Im not particually bothered where it is as long as its awesome.

This plus Spellcrafting is pretty much what I want from DLC.

After watching Hugo today and playing Skyrim i thought i'd like to see an engineering profession, probably in the same way that cooking works now.

[edit] My post wasn't a great insight to my idea, i think i'll let my brain wander and come up with some ideas, i was thinking about using the dwemer items but with them being an advanced race it doesn't seem like that'd be a good idea. The dwemer ruins could start a quest though so you could learn to make the little spider things. Food for thought anyway.

I'd like to see more expensive items in shops. I have (and have in previous TES games) so much money and nothing to spend it on.

I'm thinking an appearance of the Fighter's Guild in Skyrim. Maybe they open up a new chapterhouse in Riverwood or something. That, or maybe Morrowind... Ok let's touch on Morrowind realisticly here for a mement. Maybe Bethesda could make a new Morrowind. I mean, they have the landmass, Shivering isles was 1/3 the size of Cyrodill, so with that in mind Morrowind was about half of Cyrodill, maybe a little more than that. I'm sure they could pack it full of things to do. I'd like to see it back. I'd also love Cyrodill. I tried to go back and play Oblivion, but the gameplay was too....fake? I love the setting though, and with Skyrim's textures.... I'd poop myself.

I'd also like to be able to join the Imperial Cult... I mean, join a temple or various temples and do more quests. I really thought you'd be able to quests for all Nine at first and was bummed when I realized they only had a small handful of Temple quests.
