Unofficial DLC Discussion - Thread #7

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 6:28 am

Well i just read something. It's no DLC for Skyrim.

It's a trailer for Dishonored, and Pete Hines said "we make other games you know" ... so yeah don't count every single surpise as a Skyrim announcement.

Last night brought me back to the time before much was released on Skyrim and people came up with so many whacky ideas, and over anolysed every screenshot.
Beth released the screenshots and even the demo ages before the game. I think the least they can do is give us a tiny, insignificant sceenshot or concept art and actually CONFIRM ts TES related. It doesnt even have to be much. A new mountain flower variety would be enough.

You may argue that I'm overreacting, but frankly, I'm disgusted that they would pull a stunt like this, as clever as it was. So much so that it has killed much of the interest I had in the DLC. I know BGS had nothing to do with this, but my love of Skyrim has taken a heavy blow today.

Whatever they do, I hope they add a ton of new armor and weapon models to the game. There are wayyyy too few.

I remember picking up a book in some dungeon, maybe "Children of the Sky" or one similar. It talks about the Nords wearing the fur of local wildlife and whatnot. There is absolutely nothing in game. There's the one set of bear armor that's unique to Stormcloaks, there's Hide and Fur Armor...that's it. Why isn't there a Sabre Cat set, a Troll set, Wolf fur, Mammoth Armor, etc, etc etc.? I get all of these pelts and things from the animals I kill but I can't use them in any way?

Even heavy armor feels lacking. There's just not enough stuff to wear in the game. I've been stuck in Leather Armor for way too long.

Indeed. They really need to be less afraid of a little redundancy, and more afraid of lack of contrast.

They problemly learned their lesson with the fonv dlcs. I remember when they released the screen shot of honest hearts, there was so much debates and nick picking that the community hyped up the burning man charector so much it was a disappointment when it came out.. Tbh honest I really hope it comes out in July or something past, that way they will be forced to have something huve like shimmering islands and not something thT can be fully completed and explored in a matter of four hours like honest hearts. I liked hh, but with skyrim, im expecting something alot alot bigger.

i have to slightly agree here.

when a company like bethesda releases a DLC, they send it down a long chain of events that is out of thier control (microsoft, sony, etc.) despite what Bethesda wants to do they also dont want to give false hope.

i remember on more then one occasion for FNV when DLC was announced, then pushed back. . .it was like they said they killed a kitten, rage rage rage rage rage.
there is so many neg comments on these forums about skyrim as it is ($60 entitles you to company descisions apearently) i cant even comprehend the amount of rage if a DLC was announced then delayed.

The team is not made up entirely of programmers :/

Would you want them to just stop paying the artists level designers writers and music composers until the ps3 version is fixed?

Not that the ps3 version doesn't need to be fixed but you must remember behesda are people too. If they just stopped everything until bugs were fixed many people would lose jobs and they would fall apart.

No offense, just a lot of people are saying they do not want Bethesda to do anything until they fix all the bugs.

Actually dude im pretty sure like all here that everyone in this sudio know about all the glitches and bugs in that game before it was launched on all platforms. Anyway when you buy a tv and it dont work you just get another one until it works same thing for pc,x box or ps3. The fact that poor employees of bethesda will be fired i just really dont care so much, people lose their jobs and dont diserve it, at least if some testers are fired that will be good thing.

The decison anyway to launch a game even glitched come from the bosses (you know the guys who did big school, who got big salary and do big mistakes), people who dont know anything to video games but only marketing. So this is truly bethesda's behaviour since fallout series: we give you good games we work on storyline, freedom in game , but only way to have a good experience are modders that do all the finish work. So buy a pc, or if youre in xbox or ps3 dont buy another bethesda game or do with what you have cause it will not change for dlc cause the guys who decide dont care about you all they care bout is your money as usual

With a Poll http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1323594-would-you-like-to-see-a-jumping-height-perk-added-to-vampireswerewolfs-perks-or-enchanted-gear/ on the first thread that is now closed showed the community was largely in favor of this coming back in one form or another. I decided posted this thread to continue the support to show the Skyrim Developer's that we indeed want this back.

Jumping Height, I really hope in future content (Boots of Springheel Jack) the developer's will let us increase jumping height or have it as Perks for the Vampire and Werewolf. Now Im not talking about jumping over castles and some of that silly nonsense from Oblivion. Just enough to jump on top of houses for stealth characters. This would really add enjoyment to the already awesome game. I mean this is a single player game and it will not bother anyone else to play the game with increased jumping. Maybe let you character jump 4X times higher. I play on the PC, But I would love for this feature to be available for Consoles which I prefer because of my huge HD Beast of a Tv, Even with the jumping increased to 4X I still cannot jump over walls on the PC version..It seems the Developers was planning on some kind of Acrobatic skill at some point because of the invisibles walls but scraqed it at some point late in the development.

Here goes a sample of how high /max it should be with a enchantment...Nothing crazy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpqfKXXOYcM

Anyways, This game rocks and please feel free to leave some great suggestions of your own..Im sure the Developers read this...

Developer's here is a Plug In for the Max Height the Jumping , Please Try

http://www.mediafire.com/?dmzicfdp9vg9xxe

If anything they could sell this on the market place for 240 MS Points. I would but it.

I'm hoping they expand more on the lore of souls and soul trapping, hopefully M'Aiq's comment was foreshadowing more than just that one quest that may count.

You'd love to know about the Dreamsleeve then.

The last part of this article in NowGamer suggests DLC could be a good while away yet ...

The image, of rugged, heroic type apparently plays ahead of a trailer for Dishonored over on GameTrailers, while Bethesda's Pete Hines reminded gamers via Twitter that the company also publishes other games, following up with "Some of you guys are completely delusional with your hopes and expectations. Just sayin'. :-)"

Most depressing thing I've read in a while.

He's probably referring to the hopes for a working patch or a playable PS3 version.

Actually its a direct reference to the wild speculation last night that ended up with us all deciding that bethesda was creating a sequal to wheres waldo. Has nothing to do with patches.

Dont let that comment get you down, he was just joking about how nuts the forum got last night.

Wa...wa....waaaaaaaaa.....

Bethesda just tainted the Dishonored trailer. If you look at the comments of the blog entry, people are commenting how disappointed they are that it wasn't DLC related. I am betting that's the story the gaming news/blog sites will cover. That's way more juicy than a trailer for a game. What a PR/Marketing blunder. Someone needs to give Bethesda marketing some social media training. Teasers work great to feed excitement that already exists. If everyone is asking about Skyrim DLC and you tease them with a generic image, EVERYONE will immediately assume it is about the DLC.

As a form of damage control, Bethesda may now quickly have to throw together a DLC announcement ahead of schedule . They certainly don't want the major focus of Dishonored trailer to be what it wasn't.

Honestly, I am amazed they sit back and watched this thing snowball yesterday. When Twitter and blogs blew up yesterday that a Skyrim DLC annoucment was inevitable, they should have clarified. I guess they thought all buzz is good buzz. That whole "Bethesda makes more games than Skyrim" re-tweet was WAY too little, WAY too late.
Especially considering they told us they would be talking about the DLC this month. This was such a silly mistake to make PR wise. You have nowhere near the amount of people interested in this new IP that you do Skyrim, and the anticipation amongst the fans is getting to a fever pitch with some people.

I do know of it, but not about the souls themselves. Besides, I really dislike the very, very in-depth lore of the Elder Scrolls.

BETHESDA:

You understand as time passes more people stop playing your game right? This is the case with every game. With less people playing the game that means less of a audience to sell DLC to. This means less $$$ for you. It would be to your benefit to announce DLC soon.

I thought the sweet spot for a DLC announcement would have been around March. With the way they're dragging it out now i'm expecting the second coming of Christ.

Tribunal came out six months after Morrowind did, it was a well-assembled Expansion for the most part, but felt out of place, considering Vvardenfell was totally open. If Bethesda needs to take 8months to make a DLC akin to Shivering Isles for Skyrim, I don't mind waiting.

As a matter of fact, I certainly hope that's the case. Bethesda, proving the Industry wrong once again. First, by proving a Single-Player only game, can go Toe to toe with the "Biggest" release of the year, succeed financially with minimal DRM and no cut-content Day-one DLC or Online passes locking parts of the game out, and maintain an unprecedented level of post-release support. Bringing back true, "Game within a game" expansions, and having them be wildly successful would be another satisfying kick-in-the-balls for people like Bobby Kotick.

the sad thing is they've taken so long at this point anything other than the greatest DLC ever created will be a disappointment. I personally will never check out dishonored ever because of this, and I will tell anyone who asks about it that the game looked like garbage. Hey bethesda, what is it called when you have to use hype from skyrim to create hype for dishonored? its called dishonored svcks and can't carry itself. bunch of n'wahs, I bet people from bethesda don't even say n'wah either.

same for me

in fact i decided to start anew
i deleted all saves from my level 57 character (that was hard for my heart)
and im starting a new one and i plan to make things different and better than my last one
should keep me busy while i wait

for my part i have forgiven bethesda
they wanted to do something good after all
but they can't pleased everyone can't they
