Unofficial DLC Discussion - Thread #7

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 2:05 pm

Given how different Skyrim is than previous ES games, I'm not sure what to think.

I'd be surprised if we didn't have some info by 6months out. (May). Considering that coincides with Morrowind's 10th anniversary, it's a good PR opportunity to make an announcement.

If that slips by, if we don't have a word by 8months out(July), I've either grossly overestimated Bethesda's capacity, or grossly underestimated the scope of what they want to deliver with the new content.

Anything up to, and over 10months(September) is going to be living in the shadow of Bioshock: Infinite.

Anything over a year is just too long to go without any information.

Just some Comparisons to previous Bethesda games. As I said before, Skyrim is a lot different.

Approximations:

Morrowind: Tribunal(6months), Bloodmoon(13Months)

Oblivion: Knights of the Nine(8months) Shivering Isles(12months)

Fallout3: OpAnchorage(3months) ThePitt(6months) BorkedSteel(7months) PointLookout(9months) MoShipZeta(10months)

Bolded-Expansions that add landmass

Tribunal added landmass to morrowind.

Tribunal added landmass to morrowind.

technically all expansions did.

But no, Mournhold isn't what I'd consider "Landmass", it's essentially one extremely large dungeon. Similar to The Pitt or Dead Money.

I know right? It's not enough that they seemed to focus much more heavily on a solid release for the 360, but they were also making deals behind the scenes.

I wonder how much Beth got paid by M$ for every bug left in the Ps3 version.

That's not it, but Microsoft has a record to pay companies to release Xbox DLC earlier (happens in the Call of Duty series too, the Xbox is a month ahead of the PS3). I don't think MS is paying Beth to leave in bugs, but instead I think they pay them to pay extra attention to the Xbox version.

I hate this as much as you do, I'm a PS-player as well.

They need to make the creation kit more intuitive. The workflow could be much improved, thus getting expansion dlc out quicker.

Personally I hate having problems with my games. But that doesnt change the fact that I love this game and will wait patiently for them to try and fix every problem I get, since every playthrough seems to present a different problem. That being said, here is what I think would be cool DLC:

hardcoe mode, like in FNV, an actual purpose to all that food and drink, and to have hardcoe mode disable fast travel would be just as cool.

Mounts for followers. I know there's a mod for the PC, but we cant use it if we say...have a PS3. Thats one of those things that someone should've spoke up about during development i think.

Hunting/bounties. I think collecting werewolf/troll/misc. other evil thing heads for money would be very entertaining.

On the werewolf note, whats up with silver weapons? There in there, but we cant upgrade them? theres certainly tons of silver ingots out there, and I know that you're not gonna use an entire 1 lb. ingots to make a .3 lb ring. So throw some more Silver stuff in there please! I remember on Morrowind there was Silver Imperial Armor.

More dragon stuff! By the time I finished my first playthrough I swear I had enough dragon parts to make every one of the people who could possibly follow you their own set of dragon armor. Why no weapons? I want a bow that looks like you ripped the horns off a dragon.

Summons. I just miss being able to summon skeletons. and daedroths. raising a dead body is fine and all, but I want an army of skeleton!

As I said these are just a few things I would like to see. Just with every other Elder Scrolls, Thanks Bethesda, And as a PS3 user, what I would like to say to other PS3 users is this: I have all 3 systems and I'm pretty sure that theres just something wrong with PS3's.

As bad as the old horse armor was honestly I think if they gave us the option to make it and it gave the horses better defence I would buy it....just imagine shadowmree in a set of daedric horse armor...Sick right?

Why do people complain about Microsoft being douches? They are just being business smart and doing things that please there fans. It would just be dumb for Microsoft not to pay for exclusiveness. It makes them money, while making fans/consumers happy. It would make no sense for them to pass it up. You guys should be mad at Bethesda for letting it happen in the first place.

I will never understand some of the design decision Bethesda made.Dragonbone weapons would have been awesome. Two handed sword made out of a dragons jaw.All other armor sets have a set of weapons to go with...but dragonbone not?!
There are many things about the game i will never understand...it's just stupid.

Technically, New Vegas is a standalone expansion to Fallout 3. I wonder if Bethesda, at some point in the future, will do something similar with Skyrim.

They have about one year and a half before the next generation of consoles come eclipsing the current game. I bet Bethesda wants to be ready with Fallout 4 in the same way they did with Oblivion 6 years ago.

Well dude selling with some glitches especially a game like skyrim is honestly possible that is not the point of my thread. What mak me angry is the number of people complaaining about quest bug i can just list you few of them annoying for gameplay like: -guardian circle bug with colette not selling it when you finished the quest -vilkas bug when you conduct him to ysgramor tumb is stuck and you cant take another follower -you can enter on dwarven ruins that is part on the main academy quest with a glitch the door is open but you cant exit cause it needs a key (restart all your game then) thee key only spawn when you start academy quest -ennemies npc stuck on rocks everywhere -freeze and crash -....(see by yourself just search on google or play more this game) The point of my thread is clearly against bethesda because they just do NOT correct these glitches as they should. I admit that this game is just nice but with minimal respect for customers they should have in mind that people like modders are making a patch for their game, that means they are doing their job. I respect your opinion this game is great but bethesda must understand that they cant take us for idiots by including new killcams instead of correcting all their mistakes first.

the only bug i ever had well that i even noticed was at some point in the companions quest i think it was in ysgramor's tumb. i don't know what happened but half way through the tumb some thing happened that when ever i was dule weilding and i did both power attcks at the same time my character would start going all slow motion while every thing else was normal speed and i would just get attacked by every one i was fighting and some times killed over it. i was so pissed because i used both power attacks pretty much every time i pulled the trigger to swing so i had to stop using my left hand wepon cause when i used the left it made me start going slow motion.

but this was back when it first came out so i don't know if it still does this any more since i havent done the companion quest since. has any one else ever had this happen to them cause my next play through i'm gonna be a warrior and gonna do the companion again?
but if this is still happening i will only go to the point of turning into a werewolf and then finish the quest line.

So it seems where they had to add new land took the longest... personally I hoping for new features, quest, weapons, & so forth... I really don't want any new land. Skyrim is fine for me.

This may not fall in the lines of a full featured DLC expansion. But I would like them to add in the hardcoe mode that alot of fans hoped for before release. On my game save I have TONS of potions and food that are pretty much useless. It would be nice to make hunting, fishing and cooking food much more useful by having a hunger and H20 meter ala Fallout New Vegas. I loved that about that game! This could also be a way to make diseases have more of an impact on gameplay.

Horse Armor? http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=13348
hardcoe Mode? http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=4429

It's already been done as free mods.
Bethesda's going to have to do better than that.

I think we need more alternatives resulting of the dialogue's choices the player make. Because all in all, we always end up to the same results... It feels too streamlined and so for the quests ending.
Same thing for the dungeons and caves/tombs , its a succession of rooms and path and there is only a one way to complete the level. I know there's a few area that feature multiples path possibilities but we need more of that.

That kind of optimistic faith in free market economics just sort of reminded me of something Hannity would say. No insult intended.
Personally, I think M$ is a bully who stifles innovation and competition. Their customers suffer for it along with the rest of the gaming market. Just an opinion.

How about wondering how much Sony didn't pay them and why they aren't going to bat for the customers responsible for that huge pile of cash that they are sitting on? Wait. That's too logical. Much easier to complain about the competitor who actually did what it takes in business to win.

No kidding. They'd rather bring down their mortal enemy Microsoft than look at the fact that the company they're loyally handing all of their cash to hordes it instead of doing the same thing for them. Sad, sad, sad. We live in the age of entitlement by force.

By the way: I think Hannity is a tard. So, please don't say that I'm some party Republican because I can see what the real problem is in this particular issue rather clearly. If these Sony guys would spend more time railing against their favorite company who has chosen to ignore them completely, maybe Sony would get off their bum and do something about it. Whining that your favorite company is neglecting you as it shows in their lack of interest to woo game developers, their inability to secure their networks, etc. on a Bethesda forum to a bunch of people who, frankly, don't really care about the fact that you think you've gotten screwed doesn't really help your situation any.
