The Modlist:

These players are the moderators for the server and have almost as much power as an Admin. Please respect them

Skoomaholic
SkyShadowing
Mirglof

Council: Decision making representatives of the player-base. These members are put forward by the players to represent them, but the final decision on appointment falls on the Admins and existing council members. Except in extreme conditions, the decision of this group will determine any changes to the server

The council is defunct for now as it is inactive. I will make decisions based on what the community desires and by what we really need. If the players still want a council then an election poll should be made over at the new forum.

1.9-10 Update notice: We will be getting a new map for 1.9-10. So we can start fresh with all of the new systems that will be in place.

What is Minecraft?

Minecraft is a creative sandbox game centered around exploration and survival; exploring and gathering resources allows you to protect yourself against a variety of beasties that hunt you down during the night. The creative sandbox elements of the game fuel your want to survive and gather, which in turn allow you to build many wonderful creations. Basic fluid physics also provide interesting means of creating basic machines. The multiplayer is very similar to the single-player, just with more people. Right now neither enemies nor damage function, however an update fixing this will be arriving shortly.

Please visit the server forum for discussion on the 1.8 map and Aldgate style gameplay. Server rules have been posted on the server forum.
Instructions on how to donate to help keep the server running are there to. You can donate at any time but donating is not required in any way to play, just makes it easier on Bonemonster.

Colored Titles Explained:

Red = Admin

Purple = Moderator (will also have Mod_ attached to their title if they have a chosen color already)

Light Blue = Rp City Guard

See the thread about donating on the server forum. Server needs some donating. The Bill is coming up!

FFFFFFFFFFFFF, name fail. Reported thread to have it changed.

Anyways.

I find it somewhat unfair that if a 'bandit' has his house destroyed, he can't really do anything about it, whereas if someone so much as messes with a block in one of the cities, they get suspended.

What seperates 'bandits' from other players, other than their choice to build freely without restriction? Suppose Terpy decide to build a giant, eye-[censored] structure and then some idiot thinks it would be funny to break it, because hey, they can't get in trouble!

While I understand that part of the reason we have this rule is to bring the player base together, I think it has more of a negative effect on the server as a whole, as it allows for griefing to exist without fear of punishment.

There is a difference between role-playing and being a complete ass. Just because someone is a 'bandit', they should be subjected to possibly infinite amounts of frustration?

Alright, here's the deal. I can get into the Velox admin CP now, and can restart the server, but it's not having any effect. The server console just displays blank when it's running. I'll see what I can do, but I'll need to get to bed in ~45 mins.

bone said he was thinking it over at the moment.

EDIT: @undone we need an extra man, or maybe offer to contribute more so we can get that dedicated server. and no offense bone, i won't be putting any of my money into veelox. we should have fired them after several crashes on day one.

To be perfectly honest, I'd be happy if PVP was only allowed outside of player made structures, with no block griefing allowed at all. But with the RP rules having been decided beforehand, I am quite determined to play by those rules and actually frigging roleplay. I don't think it helps for consistency if the rules are constantly being changed mid-RP.

It's not that the rules are being changed, it's that we never layed out any specific rules anywhere. Or at least not anywhere that we can easily keep up with them.

You're probably right. I don't think our playerbase is actually united in what they want to do. We end up with a compromised set of rp rules that are constantly amended with server rules because people inevitably strain against the rules (or absence thereof) they don't like.

In my opinion some of the best maps were the ones where there really wasn't much of an RP to begin with. The "Rules" were more like "Optional Guidelines" in that, if you did want to RP, you had some =thing to do, but if you didn't want to RP nothing bothered you. Most times people just began to RP by themselves after awhile. RPs are fun in the server, and they work, but not when they're enforced.

These are the screenshots I took of the megarift that emerged in my server today. Many homes and lives were lost. But the templars and a mix of other factions were able to push the megarift back to the nether and save the land.

Awesome shots, mate, but could you maybe next time give a direct link for your pictures. Having all of those adverts in the background flashing away kinda ruins it.

That, and saving them as .JPEGs instead of .PNGs. PNGs aren't as good at storing picture data as JPEGs, so they take longer to load.

- Bandits can be griefed (up for consideration by Bone).

- Retaliation griefing by bandits is not allowed (up for consideration by Bone).

Utter [censored]. This turns 'Bandits' into glorified punching bags for the bullies on the server. People playing as bandits still like to build and we dont want to see our stuff destroyed.

Say said bandits grouped together and built a town of their own - how open to griefing is that, as I see anything belonging to a bandit should follow the same rules as a city - no griefing if they are offline.
What if a bandit/merc robs a house in a city but the owner is offline and also has no sign above their door to indicate who owns it - Should that stuff be returned even if one city person is on?

Signs should be used on any building owned by someone to save on the nonsense of cancelling a heist because said people don't put their name to the houses and things "need" to be returned.
- If one person is of a town is online, everything is open for theft.
- Signs should be placed above doors to indicate the owner.
*If named owner is offline block destroying is illegal
- These rules apply for griefing of bandits also.

There need to be some sort of protections and limitations on both sides. Typical tief rules should apply to both sides, but actual "griefing" of bandits should not be allowed unless the bandit says so.

Some bandits are 'bandits' simply because we didnt want to live in a city under the authority of a leader. This doesnt mean that any city should be able to gang-bang us, destroy what we've worked hard to create, then run back to their own city and hide behind their protections. The name 'bandit' is completely misleading, and frankly, people from one particular city are acting more like bandits than anyone living on their own.

For bandits, normal block griefing protections should still apply. Theft from chests and the like should be allowable as per normal RP rules, but actual destruction of someone's work should be disallowed unless the 'bandit' has indicated they dont care.

I agree with what you're saying but no one in their right mind would say "Sure destroy my stuff, if you want." unless they made a 3x3x3 dirt house on top of a tree.

Maybe "Bandit" should be split into those who are* bandit and those who see themselves as "Indie"**
*They follow with raiding/destruction/murder as they see fit and are open to the same punishment went caught.
** Indie - People who wish to live outside the walls of a City but cause no hassle to deserve any, and should be left alone unless engaging in trade/jobs etc - but once they are caught doing crime by one city they are marked by said city as a bandit.

So Factions would be: Frostfall, Bridge...., Bandits and Indies.

Off Topic: @Robbio - Mind I said Skyrim svcks, I take it back, it's epic now that I'm used to it. :D

It's too complicated, there are too many factions and too transient a population. Having two cities instead of one was already too much of a stretch.

The fact is, if we disallow any PvP element, there really is no point in allowing people to leave the city anyway, since anybody outside it has no actual effect on the city.

Well it's supposed to be a Rping map - no one is actually RPing, rather just looking for a set guideline and rules to play and it's already getting rather boring.
Alright some nice places have arose with a good few buildings - most lie vacant for the whole time after their creation....
Its not complicated, nor is two cities, the people are only stretched because of timezones/jobs/school and just a lack of numbers but if thats the case then those "cities" aren't cities with only 4-6 members living there, they'd be villages if anything.
I can't actually see anything complicated about 4 factions if communication inside the factions is properly working - which it's not, thats mostly the issue, communication inside the factions.

I knew that you'd come around. You're not meant to see that :P

You could call me "Indie", but I refer to myself as an "Outlander". What ever you call yourself is fine but ultimately you are classed as Indie

It would be possible if people didn't rush for the protection of the server rules everytime someone else does roleplay creatively.

We just don't have the numbers for it.

[censored]'s sake can't believe we're contesting the same rules again for the benefit of a selected few. If you want to build alone, got to single player. Its been decided already lets keep it that way.
