Unofficial Minecraft Thread #68

[censored]'s sake can't believe we're contesting the same rules again for the benefit of a selected few. If you want to build alone, got to single player. Its been decided already lets keep it that way.

I can understand you not wanting your griefing targets to have any rights.

We need some sort of common goal for everybody. Notch is too terrible to provide us with a decent one in vanilla. Something like Simazzarome's hellish rift apocalypse. Maybe something a bit more achievable, I have no idea how they implemeted a nether apocalypse but its not within our capabilities at the moment. Regardless we need some sort of common aim. The cities wouldn't be having petty conflicts, we'd be forming alliance to drive back a greater force. We'd be like the Elves and Men uniting against Mordor. My only thought is that there is nothing remotely threatening about Minecraft for us to unite against.

For the record I have no interest in building "New New Mordor".

*sigh* Alright, some dumb ass took 9 diamonds out of a chest that was quite clearly belonging to me, as the sign on the landplot that said ,"Payed for by Lord Vidicus" would suggest.

I just want my diamond back. I don't care who did it, just give it back please, so that we don't have to get a moderator to figure out who you are. I know for a fact that I was not online when it happened, as I checked the box last night before logging off, and they were still present.

I don't trust people on this server to play by the rules when it comes to stealing. I hope you get your diamonds back but they are things you'll want to hide in the future.

I believe Skooma was trying to get a group together, consisting of people from both cities, to help him defeat the enderdragon.

That why I was referring to a 'decent' challenge and something that actually threatens the cities. That Enderdragon is going to be hanging around The End until we find a portal and go kill him, in the meantime we can just go on merrily about our business.

I know, but at least it's something. The only thing really threatening the cities is each other.

It's fair, and you can't get banned for it or anything, but obviously the city's not going to be happy about it and will try to stop you.

Well I found the nice tunnels that someone dug through my walls and roof to re-activate my Nether Portal. (Oh I wonder who).

If anything was stolen when I was offline there will be hell to pay.

Can't it be reactivated from the Nether side?

Kind of doesn't help the the RP when you try to prevent an expelled citizen from joining the other town. (Goes along the lines of forced banditry)

Sorry for destroying your crops and not replanting them, FF. I didn't know it was considered griefing and I thought it was stealing, and since people were in FF, I thought it was legal. Woops. I'll repay any damage.

I just put Lockette back on.

Each City can have 2 Double Chest for their Vault.

Each player can have 1 personal chest for themselves.

If admins/mods find any more than this, the extra Lockette signs will be destroyed.

Doors cannot be Locketted.

Once a Lockpick mod is found, that works, anything can be Locketted.

Totally aside from any discussion of rules, here is how I always understood and intended admin/moderator action regarding bandits:

Bandits will have NO active protection against petty theft and minor griefing. This is reserved for the three cities authorised by Bone. Which should have only been one city. However, if there is repeated or major griefing against a bandit, or if a bandit is being trolled or otherwise harrassed by any other player, then an admin or moderator SHOULD take action. We're not going to offer bandits our full time and protection, since they have chosen to live and generally operate away from the rest of the community, but they do have the right to play on and enjoy the server.

What about bandits have to be online to be griefed or stolen from, so they have s chance to defend their property. Obviously they would have to label their property

Give bandits protection and they abuse it already. Someone built a complex right next to Frostfall, the gulag to be precise. Do you really expect me not to remove it completely?

Next to Frostfall, or within the boundaries of Frostfall? Because there's a pretty unsubtle difference.
