Unofficial Minecraft Thread #78

In that case I think reducing the render distance might solve the problem. I think. I donno.
I'd say so. I'd love to use Far, but a 12 year old OS can only do so much. But I play on short distance, and I can play with minimal troubles.

I've heard that one before.

I've been watching a Complete The Monument match between Pahimar(current EE dev, xen0 is taking a break), LexManos(Maintainer ant hoster of Forge), and 2 YouTube LPers. Pahimar just said that uranium will have an EMC value of around 6 diamonds, since that's how much EU will power a mass fabricator with scrap to produce 54 UU matter.

To me your post read kinda like one of MK's obscure texts. :P

Aww, man. I was kinda hoping they wouldn't apply an EMC value to uranium.

He's also going to add other mod items that are frequently used, such as redstone engines from buildcraft, to the EMC value lists.

A Thaumcraft 2 addon for EE to help balance the two is being considered.

Well after clicking back to the CD section, everything is pony related. April Fools joke, that somehow makes me feel sick...

MLP bought Mojang in a hostile takeover, then decided to keep it hush hush and keep it as 'Minecraft'.

Ug, Minecraft updated today and now it's crashing frequently. I reduced my view distance a notch and that helped, but its only brought the problem from "crashes after a few seconds" to "crashes after a few minutes."

Was this the update to 1.2.5?
I wouldn't touch any of the updates really until the became official updates like 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc...Just to avoid all the bugs creeping around in the test batches, then again that's why they're released like that, to get rid of those bugs :D

1.2.4 was released a week ago, and included a crashing bug with the world gen, with jungles in particular. 1.2.5 should fix it, and it's slated for the 4th.

I've had 1.2.4 for a while, but I distinctly saw it updating when I opened it up this morning. (My son was playing last night and it was fine.)

I'm happy taking a break for a few days, hopefully whatever is causing this will be fixed in 1.2.5.

If it just had "Done Updating" for a second, it does that almost all the time for me. It only updates for real if it downloads all the lwjgl libraries and minecraft.jar. Another remote possibility is that the jar was bugged.

Reduce everything. I'm running render distance normal, and everything else as low as it goes. It fixed the issue for me.

Good thinking, I'll delete the jar and re-download it.

Be aware that that'll force the latest version on you, whatever that may be. Although to my knowledge the latest betas are opt-in (manually update) rather than opt-out (decline update when starting MC)?

At least it tries to run. Still no help on the Windows 8 issue. 'Bad video drivers, no open GL'. Definitely not the case. The drivers are up to date as of 3/15/12 (installed via Windows update) and every game in my Steam collection runs perfectly. :/

Just use a downgrade bro. Windows 8 is a beta project at this point, why would you expect it to run compatible with EVERYTHING just yet? Either use some sort of downgrade software, or just wait until Win8 is a proper product.
