Unofficial Minecraft Thread #78

Sure. Some sort of buffer is fine. So let's agree to keep the current vanilla server (PS: Undone, it restarted last week - though if you wanted Tekkit, that hasn't happened yet) until at least mid-June (which would be 3 months) and see where it goes. Already it's seen a greater variety of players, and more of them, than any time previously, which I'd count as a success.

PS: Jeb's change to light calculations was brilliant. It doubled the amount of blocks to calculate at once and yet I've noticed an improvement in server responsiveness (beyond what we gained by the switch to the beastly hardware).

Oooh, map restart? Someone let me know when it happens.

I do think that each map should be up for at least 3 or 4 months, which is plenty of time for a big project. I do think, though, that if they're not even lasting this long then we have a problem.
Theres no problem, we just want to take advantage of the new height limit.

I'm not concerned about people's ego projects. Until MC stops updating, we will end up changing maps to conform to new things, we've discussed this forever ago. I still do big projects just for giggles. If I make a flaw in the beta project, then when I do it over, I can perfect on it, or I can get an idea of what I want to do to improve the design. 'Because we lose our work' is just a silly reason to complain since we've been warned map changes are inevitable.

i understand that things are not permenant. but its rediculous to have 3 restarts in one month. I have tried 3 times to start and finish the werewolf mansion/village, its not even worth building any thing any more simply because i will never finish it.

There will never not be a new update.

I think they should implement monkeys into the jungle biome and create more diverse biome specific creatures.
Like Bears in forests, deer/wolves/polar bears in the snow biome, and definietly add a threat or something to the water like sharks or whales

Come and build a treehouse! We plan to eventually have bridges linking them, though we currently only have three.

God! NOOOO!!!
I like my elegantly mythical plunge pool, when render distance is set to tiny and you look 45 degrees in the air, quiet and just the way it is
Why? They don't have proper souls

At least my raid was merciful, not trapping them and turning them into Golems like others did. D:

They don't turn into golems, they construct them once the population exceeds 15. Would have solved our need for iron.
