Unofficial Skyrim DLC Discussion - Thread #10

I just hope that if it is about the snow elves, its not about killing them, I would rather help them revive their race.

Its not even confirmed its going to take place on solstheim  It could be anything

but as far as we know, it has something to do with the "snow elf prince" who was buried on solstheim. which is as good a place as any for a new landmass :P

It could be a different person though. It's entirely possible, that the Falmer leader is always refered to as 'Snow Prince'. Or maybe it's just a bunch of dialogue about the original snow prince.

Spoiler

Tsun is at the end of the main quest.
Herma-Mora and Mauloch are just names for Hermaeus Mora and Malacath, both of whom have quests.
Ysmir is, according to the Greybeards, the player character.

Ysmir was one of two people: Tiber Septim, later known as Talos. Or Wulfharth, ancient ruler of Skyrim, later known as "Ysmir, Dragon of the North."

Perhaps due to all the snow elf stuff, I think the DLC might take place on Morrowind. Solstheim is a distant possibility, but there is a LOT of Morrowind we haven't explored in any game yet (we just explored Vvardenfell, the walled-off capital city and a smaller island). Realistically, Bethesda wouldn't release a Solstheim DLC/expansion again. That'd probably cause too much of a public outcry.

Personally I would've preferred an epic all-out struggle against the Thalmor, but I guess that'd be too much for DLC. Maybe in the next Elder Scrolls game? There's enough foreshadowing about a imminent great war between elves and mankind. If future DLC or Elder Scrolls games don't address the thalmor, all that buildup would be a waste.

[\paranoid mode: on]

Do you think that the Devs could have introduced empty strings in the last update with the DLC prefix just to mislead us, so that the first DLC remains a complete surprise when it is announced?

Nah, Bethesda would never be so sneaky as to do something like that. Especially when crossbows are one of the most requested things, along with spears.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing too :)

Naaaah, Bethesda isn't THAT sneaky. Has anyone tweeted Pete Hines about all this crossbows and snow elves stuff? Maybe his response would indicate what they're actually planning :P

It's only one DLC. I'm sure that a Thalmor DLC will come later. The Thalmor are too much of threat for the Dragonborn to ignore considering the game goes out of it's way to antagonize them and make them your enemy.

EDIT: I would totally make a Vampire hunter who wields a crossbow if they are in.

Ask him if the crossbows will have their own perk tree. Maybe he'll slip up and say "sorry, can't confirm if crossbows will have a perk tree" :P.

Indeed, once we get DLC/Expansion news I hope this place will be similar to Skyrim General during the Summer. (I think I've mentioned that before :P)

True, but I was thinking yesterday that DLC might be Solstheim. It's a lot smaller than Skyrim and other places so it would take less time to make for DLC, and considering were only about 6 months from release... I think it's rather possible. People asking for Morrowind and other places, I don't think realize how long it would actually take to make these places. A lot of Dunmer ended up there & possibly preserving there culture, and Nords have always wanted it... and with BS being very strong on the Nord culture in this game... it wouldn't surprise me to have DLC there. A lot of people loved Morrowind for it's unique setting... perhaps Solstheim is a small way to give them that back.

Though I don't really care for new land, as the excitement will wear off rather quickly... more time developing and expanding Skyrim would give me more enjoyment.
