Vampire attacks... Really?

Negative. But I believe that Aela can revert you once if you are ever cured or refused the beast form during the Companions questline.

Oh well, aleast we get werewolves which are hostile

Immediately. No joke.

Oh really, even if you side with the Vamps you lose all the characters to Vamp attacks? Kinda weird to have to kill Vamps as a Vamp supporter, right?

Ah well, I expect this to be modded out soon after PC release, if not, I might have to make my first ever mod. Stupid fking Vampires.

You will kill vampires regardless of who you side with.

Wait, what? That makes little sense.

"We will make this world a haven for all our Vampiric brethren, by blocking out the SUN!!!"

Ahh, but yeah, go kill ever other vamp you see.

Glad I am for the dawnguard then, never going to get to see the vamp side of things as I really dislike vampires. All of them, from every show/movie/book.

The vampires don't care whose special club you're in they'll attack when you try to get close to what's theirs.

So any new characters fresh out of Helgen are basically doomed to a vampire apocalypse as long as the dlc is downloaded. Nice.

You see, the Volkihar are the top 1% of vampires. The rest are the 99%. Sometimes, vampires get a little too roudy, so Volkihar deals with them. And once, they even tried to protest outside of the castle. However, this isn't America, it's Skyrim. They were quickly killed in the least humane way possible.

This is a total guess, but if I was making the game it's how I would do it, and it seems sensible.

Dawnguard quests are level 10 minimum (according to sources such as IGN etc), so I assume that nothing shows up til level 10. If I am wrong, I can just imagine walking into Riverwood just in time to watch the last non-essential NPC drop dead.

I'm assuming at some point this conversation took place:

Todd: Hey, Pete, I want to talk to you about Dawnguard.

Pete: Yeah, vampires. It's gonna be awesome.

Todd: Well, you know how we had dragons attack cities, and they could kill the NPCs because we didn't program them to realize they were at a huge disadvantage if they were up against an Ancient Dragon with only an Iron Dagger and no armor?

Pete: Yeah. Players hated that.

Todd: I know. So I was thinking... What if we have multiple vampires appear in cities and wreck havoc on the townspeople?

Pete: What sort of vampires?

Todd: Master vampires. The highest level vampires possible.

Pete: And when would this start happening?

Todd: Immediately.

Pete: But wouldn't that be more annoying than the dragons, since you'd have multiple threats that are harder to see running around and killing the townspeople, rather than one large enemy that you can easily focus on.

Todd: Yeah. What's your point?

Pete: ... I don't remember.

Except it isn't just an annoyance. I live in fear that I'm going to walk back into Solitude with everybody dead. I mean, the vamps SOMEHOW managed to permanently kill 1/4 of the town guard...

It's okay, in my beta game, they killed every killable NPC in riften and markarth.

It was, but not in cities, at least not in my experience. There's the difference.

I think so, be because many of us in beta were complaining. When you get a courier come up and give you 10 inheritance letters it's kind of ridiculous.

The towns feel so empty (riften and markarth)

Seems annoying since it potentially will kill quest giving NPCs, but just from hearing about it it sounds pretty cool. I like random encounter battles.
