Vampire attacks... Really?

Does this diminish in frequency after the questline is done?

To my knowledge they're not as frequent.

The constant vampire attacks are indeed very annoying to the point of me utterly ignoring them when they attack people as i just don't give a [censored] anymore.

Its not like NPC characters react in a realistic manor to begin with. They act terrible stupid when a dragon attacks. Old women attacking dragons with fists intead of going inside to safety. Only warriors, mages, archers should fight, not old grandma and merchants. Why even add another feature in without addressing terrible NPC behavior 1st? I wouldnt have a problem with it if only the guards and my characters took care of vamps. Instead we get the same old grandma with merchants attacking dangerous creatures in vamps resulting in broken quests and cities that are lifeless. Im happy I read posts on here describing this issue. Watching NPCs getting killed by vamps because they don't act in a realistic way, watching quests failing, and the game world being reduced to guards is not worth the aggravation I would get.

For the last time. Quest givers are marked "Essential", therefore NO quest giver will die even if every Vampire in Tamriel attacks one city.
The Misc quest givers can die, and seeing as 90% of the quests in Skyrim are Misc quest givers, that means that the vamp hit squads pretty much destroy the game. Bethesda will ignore all of us who want it changed though, so it doesnt matter how much we say or how. Their never going to change or remove the vamp attacks on cities and setllements, so I've made up my mind to uninstall DG because on 3 different playthroughs the vamps have wiped out every small setllement (ie Riverwood, Shors Stone, Karthwasten etc.) in Skyrim, along with most people in the larger cities.

If you dont like the towns and cities in your game to be destroyed by 3 vampires, dont download this. Saving doesnt help, as its a spawn so its going to happen anyway. Fast travel or walk in, it doesnt matter, and sometimes you dont even have to be there. You'll be walkin or running along and a courier runs up and hands you 5-10 inheritances.

Correction.

It's a random spawn, so there's an equal chance on a reload that it won't happen.

Well it happens everytime for me and everyone else who says its a problem. So I wouldnt call that "random" when everyone else has it happen EVERY time.

But it's in the random queue for the game. There's no scripted/timed vamp attacks on any city. They're all random.

For those who have cities/towns wiped out, just walk throughout them while listening to the "I Am Legend" soundtrack. Try to imagine you are the last Man and keep saying things like, "i can fix this", or "I'm listening".

Also kill your follower/companion if he gets bit by a vampire.

There is also a possibility that you are not the Last Man, and in fact other non-vampire people are still alive, so you may encounter some woman who thinks that God has a plan for you or something....that you have to do something to save the world, and return the world to normal.

I fast travel to Dragon Bridge, only to find myself battling both an Ancient Dragon and a pack of Vampires. Several village people died, and a boy witnessed his mother beheaded by a vampire.

Epic battle, terrible consequences. The vampire attacks may be inconvenient, but if you think about it, the perfect time for an ambush would be while the Dragonborn is dealing with a bigger threat.

I'm just glad my Restoration skill isn't going to waste because it svcks having to chase after Vamps wielding magic. It is after all, a valid school of magic.

Say its random all you want, it happens everytime, and when something happens everytime to the point you draw your weapon and get whirlwind sprint ready, I wouldnt call that random. Its a game breaker and it needs to change, but it wont be. So expect to hear alot more of this from others who dont like their game destroyed by 3 vamps.

And funny you mention that. There's more people who like it than one's who don't. The people who post here are the minority, so... yeah.

Stats to support this? Just because someone doesn't voice their opinion doesn't mean they like what's happening. The "Silent Majority" may just as likely agree with him as it does with you. It's impossible to tell since they aren't speaking up.

I won't know until I play Dawnguard, but this does sound annoying to me.

Do the attacks only take place when you enter town or do they happen even if your not there?

It's not really as bad as everyone is making it out to be, IMO.

Sooo, 30 days wait for the exclusive...

Another 30 days wait for Bethesda to patch this (beep)...

Then 30 days wait for the modders to finish their upcoming half-(beep-eep) job...

Seems about right to me. See you in October.

That's how I feel about dragons, frankly. So I expect that this won't be that big a deal to me when I eventually come across it.

Then again, maybe it'll be 100 times worse than what I'm expecting.

I don't think it will be. It's on right at the same frequency as Dragon attacks for me.

It's okay, in my beta game, they killed every killable NPC in riften and markarth.
I don't see how that's okay at all. In fact if this were to happen to me, it would ruin the game for me.

I have a friend that had a similar story to mine in Whiterun, he didn't post here...

The Dragons are different though, while granted a dragon can kill guards it's not as fast as two master vampires can.

Also, through testing I've done with my friend we seem to have the "randomness' plotted out. The vampires will only appear at night, and seem to appear shortly after you enter the city (for the major cities at least) at the main gate. If you enter the city, wait around for a minute or two and no vampires have appeared it should be safe for you to continue on without worrying about anything. Although it may be possible that they can enter the city while you are zoning out of the tavern, I haven't come across it yet.

We haven't done any testing with the minor cities, so I am unaware of how those get attacked by vampires. I assume it is something similar, although I have no idea where they would spawn.

As i have said before i just ignore them like i ignore dragons because it gets to a point where you don't really care anymore.

Ah...apathy...

Posts in here said its worse than dragon attacks. I never read posts on here saying 2 or 3 cities were wiped out by a dragon like I read about vamps do to cities in this thread. I had 1 random dragon attack on a unwalled town that resulted in 0 NPC deaths.

They decrease, it seems. Until you temporarily blow up the sun for the day. In which case, there's a good chance that random towns will become a vampire buffet.
Spoiler
Sorry if this is off topic but I have to ask: blotting out the sun is only temperary?? I was hoping for something to actuallt change after the mainquest is completed. Skyrim doesn't change at all?

....And I'm reminded why I love PC version. This kind of [censored] drives me nuts, so I guess I'll be waiting until a mod comes out which gets rid of these attacks once it comes out on PC. Hopefully it'll be a quick fix. *sigh*

I bet ATI is in on this. They're gonna make a killing on players moving to PC.
