Vampires can't use the face-changer?

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 11:37 pm

Depend how old you are.

What?

O.o then what's the point of having it removed from vampires in the first place? Honestly that makes me slightly less mad, but
1. I'm not sure how I feel about being able to constantly cure yourself and re-contract vampirism like it's nothing.

And

2. How is this a downside for vampires if you can still work around it and get it?

Regardless thanks for telling me that. How exactly do I cure myself and get it back? I'd like to fix this as soon as possible.

I'm pretty sure you can only change back once. Serana has the option to turn you back into a vampire. Not sure if it works until after you beat the questline though.

So we're back where we started then. With a poor design decision that limits one side with no real reason. I'm all for drawbacks if they're balanced and make sense, but this is neither. It was a poor design choice that easily could have been replaced with some other drawback.

Maybe there's a chance they will change it, I doubt it though.

Not a design decision. Vampires are considered a race of their own by the game as far as I can tell. Probably engine bugs with trying to change their appearance.

Edit: Weren't there issues with changing your face via console as a werewolf? When you transformed, you went back to the old face. Even if I'm wrong about the game considering Vampires a race, Vampire Lords work like werewolves, so most likely, if you changed it then went to Lord form you'd revert back.

That's what I was thinking. If that's the reason then that's perfectly fine you can't change anything.

The lady verbally says she won't change an undead face.

That's probably the in-game justification for the engine problems then. They needed some reason or players would wonder why they couldn't change their face.

I don't think you should be able to have a sixy vampire. You're undead.
Serana is a sixy vampire.

That's an excuse. So it's a bug then? That's almost worse that they didn't take the time to work out that kink and instead just said "Sorry, vampires can't experience this feature in our vampire themed dlc. Better luck next time."

It's definitely not a bug.

So if it's not a bug then yeah it's just a poor, random design choice. You're right Crusader, I hope they change it, but they probably wont. I really wanted to try out a new hairstyle too. I just can't figure out the reasoning behind that....

Okay, now everything that I've read about being a vampire really makes me not want to do it....I'm an argonian, so losing the glowing eyes and fangs pisses me off, not being able to use crossbows is just stupid....the powers seem cool but I probably won't use them that much anyways.....The only reason I think i'd ever wan't to be a vampire is just so that i can transform and go to town on everyone in one of the cities just because I'm bored, but i honestly don't see myself using it in combat....
I think they got rid of the fangs because too many people complained about how awful the fangs looked on the beast races. I personally think it's dumb that they got rid of them after so many complained in the past about how they didn't get to have fangs like the other races. Now nobody gets to have fangs, and it'll likely stay that way despite the fact people have been complaining from the beginning how most female characters don't get to have fangs as a vampire. It is also ridiculous how vampires can't use the face-changing option or crossbows as well. It seems crossbows are to Dawnguard as werewolves are to vanilla Skyrim, where they are strictly restricted to a very specific story they wanted to tell and that for some reason they don't want anyone outside the Dawnguard faction to have and use one.

What would be the reason to play on the Dawnguard side if vampires got the crossbow too? That's the main reason people want to play as a vampire hunter.

Makes sense to me. The chick doesn't want to carve up some undead person.

Edit: I misread part of your post. I agree that Dawnguard should have gotten the crossbows. It gives them a perk over the vampires. Face changer should've been for all though.
Well since this is an rpg many people like to rp such as myself. Maybe for the story? Their character is good or hates vampires? Maybe they dont want a weakness to fire? Maybe they want all the crossbow upgradesnand exploding ammo? Most people I know just picked what they liked better They could have added any more creative and less arbitrary perks and drawbacks if that's not enough. Just not a random game mechanic / feature that has no real lore reason behind it.

The crossbow is a weapon that the Dawnguard uses specifically to kill vampires. From a roleplay point of view, I would think vampires would want nothing to do with them.

Read my edit haha. I misread your post. I agree with that point but for different reasons. Vampires CAN use crossbows, but only the dawnguard have the schematics to upgrade them. Anyway, I still think that the facechanger should have been available to all. No reason not to.

I don't really care either way. I haven't changed my face once and I've been playing for weeks now.
